It goes to show that doing anything else worthwhile that's fulfilling and provides enjoyment actually requires more effort than sitting in a chair, staring into a screen. Unfortunately, in our current covid pandemic, it's just too easy to go to your pc or that controller and start gaming. But it encourages a sedentary lifestyle. From my years of gaming experience, gaming is crafty lie that makes you feel like you've accomplished something when you've in fact accomplished nothing. And this feeling never goes away as long as you're playing games. It gives you a false sense of progression. Try stepping away from gaming for at least a year, and you'll have a completely different perspective on life.

Gaming at this level has only really been around for a decade , attention is currency these days, I feel like around 2010 gaming shifted to become a money grabbing scheme , games were no longer made with the gamer in mind , now it is the share holders in mind. I was lost for about 5-6 years especially in college , I finally had to put the games down , and picked up weight lifting and a part time job , just like any addiction it is always calling me back. Watching these videos help me out a lot thank you.

Hi Cam, thank you so much for making videos and thanks for this channel. I want to share something with you guys. I tried to keep a balance in my life with video games, for almost 3 years it kinda works, but in reality i think it was just an illusion, i ended up being addicted to gaming. In my opinion, online video games are the worst choice if someone wants to have control over his/her gaming, i tried and i failed. Actually, the first time i started to spend more than 4 hours none stop playing, it was over online video games. Sadly for me, it feels like any modern game was made to absorb my life and time, feeling like i didn't played enough, even if spent my entire free time playing (hours or days). Today im 1 month free of video games, the first week was the hardest. Never give up guys, keep strong and stay focused. Peace ☮️

So grateful I found your channel. I have an 11 year old nephew who is really obsessed with gaming right now and it has me concerned as well as his parents. I sent a couple of your videos to them. I'm going to tell my sister who is his guardian about your platform. It truly is an awesome thing that you're doing. Helping others to see the potential damaging effects of over gaming. Thank you. God bless you!!!

Real life may feel unrewarding. That's cause games are tailored to predictably give rewards. But if you explore life outside of gaming, you'll find that doing something can be rewarding regardless of the outcome. A simple example is a game of street basketball. Your team may lose, doesn't mean you didn't enjoy it.

Hey Cam! I wanted to thank you for your videos and website. I turned 24 this month and felt like I had absolutely enough of video game escapism. Over this past year, gaming had lost all it's fun for me, yet all the current friends I have still want me to keep playing. A lot of the response to gaming addiction topics on youtube usually consist of gamers trying to defend their hobby, but your channel and message helped me realize that I don't want "balance", I want to be free of video games. Your channel helped me secure that. I played games for so long that they've just become a source of boredom and frustration. I see now that they hold no strong positive value in my life, and without them, so much more real life opportunities will open up. I reset and packed up my PS5 to sell, I don't think my current friends will understand at all why, but I know it's going to be one of the best decisions I'll make for my personal development and for the adventure real life has to offer. Thank you very much! For over 6 years of helping gamers realize they could be so much more.

My parents never let me play video games or had them. When I was a kid I never understood at the time. I had a neighbor friend who had a gaming system in the 90s. When we would play, I always wanted to play video games bc I didn’t have it at home. After a while, my friend wasn’t interested in playing with me. I wanted to play games and she wanted to go outside. Left me in a basement by myself. I sat there and realized it wasn’t much fun when your by yourself. Totally changed my perspective early.

I had a negative experience playing a particularly graphic videogame over the weekend. I tried playing Death Stranding: Director's Cut. After only 15 minutes, I who has a low tolerance for gory and graphic imagery, started feeling nauseous and my vision was all spotty. I had to rush outside for some fresh air to keep myself from vomiting. I'm fine now, but needless to say, I won't be playing that one again anytime soon.

If you are still in Thailand, say hi👋 to Hamza. He used to be addicted to gaming and has a heck of a story. You should do some videos with him. He is a self improvement guy and has been blowing up lately on KZbin. Just look up Hamza on KZbin and you'll find him. Send him an Instagram dm, and do a video collab with him. Love you Cam, for all the advice and help you have given to us all, especially those documentaries. Those documentaries have hit me pretty hard, and it was the pushing point for me to quit gaming. God bless and God speed😀

Hi Cam, Thank you so very much for your channel, my son is turning 18 next month and I have been using different tips over the last few years, but one of the things that I’m realizing now is that I too have an addiction to the screen. It’s gotten worse and worse over the last couple years and it’s a real fight to put down the true crime stories and other things that I am addicted to watching. I really need help but there are so many layers to my life so one thing at a time. Please keep going on with the channel I may the good Lord bless you and everyone in this group🇨🇦😊 PS you are also in Calgary correct?

Hi Cam.. I am addicted to mobile gaming. I spend whole days gaming ignoring my life. I have tried to quit several times, but there are times when I just can't control the urge to play, also its very convenient to download a mobile game as it takes only 2 minutes to download, so its really tough for me.. I tried installing time control tools but even that failed.. But now I watched this video and have a better perspective of the problem.. Let me try to quit again

For anyone reading the comments, we "gamers" are being supressed. i am here to say that i as a "gamer" dont have any of these traits mentioned in the video. So dont feel breinwashed into thinking just because u play games you have to stop. This guys videos may be helpfull to some but manipulative and bias to others. Weather intentionally or not

I haven't played any kind of video game since 28 days. It is tough, I realised that I don't have too many sources of enjoyment. Some people tell me that I should relapse because sooner or later its going to happen. The urges are excessively strong. Should I play it once in a week or a fortnight so that I don't get the urges? Also pls give me alternatives of gaming which will help. Even though I am not playing I keep thinking about it :(

Great information here. I am in my 50s, unemployed for nearly 3 years( length due to covid). I've been obsessively playing new games out, even neglecting interacting with my partner and daughter. I tend to play until games done then not touch the console for months until something new comes out. I do go overboard when I have a new game though, is that just as bad ? I only usually have housework to do and a lot of free time, I play it to relieve boredom and the escapism of exploring the landscapes and storyline. I avoid all combat games and go for adventure mainly. Am I avoiding real life you think ? PS, I also stay up way too late in the AM playing which I realise is a major health red flag.
