Seeing you walking with Ranger, I was reminded of a sign in my veterinarian's office that felt like a punch in the gut and had a huge impact on me and my husband: "If you're overweight, your dog isn't getting enough walks."

Thrifting has saved me a ton of money also-had to replace 80% of my wardrobe after changing my diet for the better. An unintended consequence has been discovering my local tailor too! It’s been amazing to pay a fraction of the price for something thrifted, which leaves budget to get it tailored to fit like a glove. Highly recommended for when you achieve your goal weight!

My husband was on the same route, he did take Metofmin, was 9.5 A1c on it!! Started Intermittent fasting and easy keto - he's off all meds, down to 5.2 A1c in under six months and has dropped 40 pounds. We are in our 60's and have tried it all. This as been almost effortless - and something we will keep up for the rest of our days. Start today!!!

Erica - you are doing GREAT! I've adopted your "a walk is a walk" philosophy, and it is awesome. I also agree that doing something that is beneficial in so many ways and becomes part of your life rather than "going on a diet" is the way to go. While it is true that "a pound is a pound" when comparing fat and muscle, keep in mind that a pound of muscle takes up much less space than a pound of fat. So even if the scale isn't going down chunks at a time, your clothes are more comfortable, and you FEEL good! Congrats!

A couple years ago I went from 202 to my goal of 130 using intermittent fasting. My fasting time was between 5 pm to 11am and I walked for 1-2 hours every single night. How glorious to meet my goal!

Just a suggestion or two. When I started losing weight I bought high-waisted jeans because they just stay up better. Also if you will cut out sugar you will lose weight like crazy! I know it's hard at first but once you do it it is so freeing. That stuff is like a drug. After that I dropped carbs way way way way way down and I am at my perfect weight now nine months later. I lost all my weight in the middle as well and I don't have back fat anymore. LOL

I've never been a scale reader; always used how my clothing fit. Was always active and stayed right around the same weight until my mid-40's when weight started to creep on. From then until my early 60's, I gained slowly. In April 2019 I decided enough was enough. I've lost 40+ pounds since then but, more importantly, I am now comfortably wearing a 10/12 or a L rather than a 14/16 and XL (or even XXL). Stairs are soooooo much easier! and at 65, that is a biggie.

Same experience for me, but I'm curious what changes you made to lose the 40 pounds. I tried intermittent fasting for over a year and didn't lose much at all. I also walked 6/7 days for 10 months and no weight loss.
@pvg1236
@pvg1236 3 жыл бұрын
@@cstar6682 - the primary changes were (1) cutting out sugar, which was largely achieved by eliminating Coke and other soda, and Candy, and (2) going with a keto diet. Keto was a good way to go for me as I’ve always liked dark meat chicken WITH the skin, pork chops WITHOUT trimming the fat, beef on the medium-rare to rare size of things, etc. I increased the water I drink, went low carb/moderate protein/higher fat, and worked out (low to moderate weight/moderate to higher reps). Also walked daily.

You posted this while I was in my own intermittent fasting and walking plan. I started in late March of 2021, so nearly a year now. I’ve been fasting 18-20 hours per day five days a week. Like you, I did not change what I ate. I take a morning med that has to be taken with food, so I eat breakfast and lunch. I work afternoons and evenings, so fasting in the evening is very convenient, since I don’t have to pack a supper. I eat supper with my husband on the weekends. I started at 209 pounds (very similar to where you started), and also a 20W/XXL. I’ve lost 55 pounds and now wear a size 14-smallest I’ve been since college. At my heaviest a few years ago, I weighed 227-it’s really incredible to think I’ve lost over 70 pounds since then! I wanted to share my story to let you know someone else is doing the same thing. Keep it up, you’re doing great!

Granted I’m 3 days in... but am committed....even am delaying my precious glass of wine until I see results! Love hearing about your story! You’ve done great! I’m doing what Gin says in her book for the Fast Start for 28 days...even drinking black coffee! Ugh. But pressing past that to get to my goal. I’ll keep following you as you are open and honest and I love your personality. So happy for you and proud of you! Ready to get into my smaller clothes again! 🙋‍♀️💕🌴

IF has so many benefits, as does keto. Once I realized that my slowed metabolism can be overcome and weight CAN be controlled, that was a breakthrough. Life-changing. Until I saw it for myself, I did not believe that was possible, after decades of being stonewalled by it. Good for you Erica, nothing can stop you now that you know how to do it.

As a health coach, I am *SO* excited to hear you say that you are going by how you FEEL instead of what the scale says! Being healthy is NOT defined by a number, but IS observable! I also love that you are figuring out what works FOR YOU - both in your nutrition and in your movement! I am your biggest FAN, I think you look amazing. In every way I also have incorporated your walk a day, it has been a challenge, I am recovering from 2 herniated discs, so slow and steady wins the race, I also have learned because of you to not be so hard on myself, if I can only walk 5 min, that’s ok. If I can walk 20 min that’s even better. Erica, you are my favorite u tuber, when I see you put a video up, I can’t tell you how happy it makes me, keep up the good work, I also love how you eat what you feel like eating just watch potion control. I have done intermittent fasting in the days I feel I can, the other days I eat my breakfast, but that’s ok, like I said I’m not being extremely hard on myself xo

I like how you said how you count everything as a walk.. I need that mindset!! I had gained weight over the last year or so & could not lose weight. My husband passed away last month & it put me in a place where I lost weight, because I couldn’t eat much... So, now I’m trying to watch what I eat...so I can keep it off... But, in a healthy way... I’ve gained a couple pounds back, I’m working on being more mindset... I do intermittent fasting for the past 3-4 years...but, have fallen off the wagon several times...I use to blame my husband for buying all the sweets. I don’t have that blame...only me buying stuff, so I need to watch how, when, why & what I eat... Thanks for the pep talk.

I am so glad for you! I love hearing these fasting stories! I cheer you on! I’ve been practicing intermittent fasting for 4 yrs. It and low carb two meals a day usually has made a HUGE difference in my life. I cant imagine leaving this habit. I feel SO much better. I have lost fat/cellulite, gained appetite control, lost health problems (migraines), etc etc. Ive even seen wrinkle improvement! I have slowly practiced fasting little by little and now can do longer fasting to heal my gut which is messed up from the virus. I do believe fasting heals the appetite. It resets gut health and hormones which is huge regarding cravings. Oh also 30min walks while fasted helps me lose more fat. My fasting is better now with just black coffee but occasionally i have mct or ghee blended for a creamy coffee. But for 3yrs had 4-5 Tbs heavy cream in my coffees and still decreased my appetite and helped me train myself to fast. It gets easier. I cant find heavy cream now without the thickener gums and stuff which my digestion hates. I can use Ghee, butter, mct tho. Blended is just like cream. 😋 I never thought my appetite would be calm like it is now. Ok this ends my praise report for fasting. 💕☕️ I just want to encourage others to try it. You encouraged me to start tracking my walks so I walk more. Thank you!

A friendly suggestion if you don't really enjoy the makeup process. As a redhead, I know the power of highlighting the right things without overdoing it (which is easy to do with my coloring). Get your eyebrows microbladed into a clean arch, wear tinted SPF, a bit of color correcting concealer around your nose and eyes, some mascara, and the some blush that can go on your eyelids, as well. Skip the shadow, eyeliner, and contouring. You don't need it. Let those beautiful blue eyes pop on their own. I promise the clean eyebrows will be all you need to frame your face and then everything else falls into place. 😊 Love your channel, your warmth and honesty, your progress. 💗

I find when I eat a bagel (which is occasionally), I am hungry a couple of hours later. When I practice intermittent fasting, and eat properly the night before, I am not hungry and have no probem waiting until 12pm to eat ( stop eating at 8pm and resume at 12pm). It works, it really does. But, like anything else, those bad "habits" creep up on you again. You also have to really watch the carbs. They make you hungry. Less than 100 carbs a day and intermittent fasting and you will have success!

So inspiring! You look radiant, Erica. I think your idea of filling in your wardrobe gaps with a few trips to Goodwill is a great one. Funny story about Goodwill...when my daughter was 11 years old, it seemed like she woke up one morning, and NONE of her clothes fit anymore! Thrifting to the rescue...I was able to replenish her whole wardrobe at roughly 75% less than retail!

Thanks for sharing and for keeping it real! I don't measure myself either, but gauge how I am doing via how my clothing fits. "They" have always said we should do that so we can track progress, but I always found it depressing and stopped years ago. If I notice things are getting loose, then I will weigh to see how I'm doing. I've know people who weigh every morning. I think that's a good way to make yourself a crazy person!!

Way to go, Erica! Keep up the great work, and please keep progress vids coming? Thanks to you, I joined Noom, finished my 100th walk *today*, int fast, and our results are spookily similar. Hang in there, and thanks for sharing your journey! P.S. Try water before coffee; straight, or hot with lemon. Wakes me up pronto!

Yes definitely continue posting about IF and walks. I hope you do another before the 100th walk! I loved how I felt while IF and I am doing Noom also after your first suggestion of it. I started drinking my coffee black to reduce calories and then as a hot beverage treat when I began IF. It also got me to look into more teas to drink. Good luck on this journey!

I’m very much interested in hearing about your progress! You inspired me to try IF and I’ve been happily surprised by how easy (and, as you said, flexible) it is. 6 weeks in and I’m down 16! So pleased to find something that is working! It’s so encouraging to see results on the scale every time I check! Thank you for sharing your life and journey, you’ve helped change my health too! Cheers to you! 🥂

I have to stop be again and seriously thank you for mentioning the new bra size. I am at the same spot in the fasting as you, and I e been so unhappy with my bras so I thought I'd check my size. I followed the instructions in the Glamorize site and found I should be wearing a 36 DD. I couldn't believe it, as I'd worn 40 D for years. So I went to Kohls and tried one in, after searching high and low for that size, 😂. I was incredulous when it fit! I bought the only 2 I could find and feel so much better about myself So comfy and a great confidence boost as well!

You're an inspiration! I am gonna keep going! You've made my day! So, thank you for that. I have lost a little over30lbs. through Kickboxing & meal prep. So, I know, I'm on the right track. I was tell about fasting. I do it, just not as long as you do. So, congrats on your progress thus far.👏

Well done! You have made such important and health-promoting changes! Re: measurements - they really motivate and show progress. Maybe you can take them in centimetres instead of inches, if you normally use inches? Measuring parts of the body like the neck or upper arms can be so affirming when you are working out and eating better and those measurements are random anyways… sometimes measurements can show progress when the scale stalls which can help keep you motivated… measuring occasionally in my weight loss journey helps me. Even half an inch in a couple of months is a victory!

I so enjoy your journey! Suggestion: I remember from one of your meal planning videos that your family enjoys pastas, dumplings pretty often. You might want to switch to one pasta night a week and either one dumpling night a week or go every other. With less starchy or fatty foods for most of the week, you won’t have to limit yourself so much with portions, and may be eating better nutrients, too! I love how you are figuring out your walks during the day! Go you, girl!! 🎉
