@@ThomasHeatonPhotoI don't think you do, not at all Tom. I really do appreciate any constructive talk. I think you showed in this video how much you care about the audience, from changing the camera position, the mic, a slightly different perspective, the promised return to the location you filmed 3 months ago and the thoughtful process of creating an image and all the why's and how's. This is why I have sticked to your channel from a very early stage of your KZbin journey, because you have always been authentic and honest, adventures and educational. 👍

I have to say that this is one of my favourite videos ever. 1st thing is that I absolutely liked the idea of doing a before and after kind of photo or summer/fall photo if you will - perhaps even doing one from the same spot of the 4 seasons. 2nd is that I used to shoot film in my younger days and this just brought back a lot of memories of me and my Canon SLR camera. Thanks as always - be safe....

Cant believe it was 3 months since the first visit to the rock face. Your October images were the better images no doubt. Really enjoyed how you cut the video from July to now and the explanation of why you came back in Autumn, not just for color change in the ferns but the suns position and why it worked so well. Well done. I hope you get the full res back soon

Did you feel that the filtered image had more of a green color cast than the non-filtered image? Other than that (and different cloud positions in sky), I really didn't notice too much difference--certainly didn't notice contrast difference, but that could be me. I was impressed that you filmed the piece back in July, and then returned to the same spot to shoot the same image under different conditions. You're the best!!

Question... I've noticed over the years that you never seem to use lens hoods. But shield the end of the lens with your hand. Why not just use a hood? Is it because you use filters so often you don't bother carrying hoods even when you don't have a filter on? Love the calendar BTW!!! Cheers from Eastern Canada - come shooting sometime!!

@jeffslade18923 жыл бұрын
Yeah, using a digital camera we can take hundreds of shots of the same scene, all of them rubbish. With film you have to engage the thought process. Planning a shot is rare for me too, like when I've seen a view and thought 'if the sun was there and ...' and so the cliffs across the valley were lit perfectly in the early morning. And then the developer lost the roll of film.

I was going to ask a question, maybe I know the answer. With film I would always bracket reversal/slide film. But with color negatives, I don't remember much difference and stopped doing it. I just thought negative film had a much wider latitude for exposure error it all looked pretty close. What I probably missed was the processor was compensating the print exposures and the prints looked much the same.! I loved the concept and glad you recorded the scene in July.

Great video and not boring at all watching you take the same pic 12 times - bracketing does that so it's really only 4 pics eh? Have you considered taking pics with the drone, just to get that slightly different viewpoint? That's a whole new experience I can tell you. The final image you showed, which you thought was closest to what you were trying to achieve, in places could easily pass as a painting..Being a landscape painter that plays around with photography, it's that type of image that always gets my attention.
