1- healthier/ no dry scalp 2- hair grew longer/ thicker and became shinier. 3- hair shed became less. 4- deep condition hair once a week. She used Jamaican black castor oil ( only on scalp).

I sometimes feel like hair products can damage hair. Like when I was younger my hair was so full and thick now ever since I’ve been using products my hair is so thin and fragile. Even when I don’t use products maybe it’s the damage the products caused. Imma start not using products to see what happens. Keep y’all posted😘

How is it going with not using products on your hair? Did you try this yet?
@isaisa967

@@angelkaterose sometimes I would completely forget about not using products so I would have to since my hair is 3c. Usually I would only use gel and hair spray for whenever I have competitions. But something I have been doing that’s been helping with my breakage is sleeping with my hair in braids and not in a messy bun. I’ve noticed a drastic change just from doing this, my hair looks a lot longer. Also gently detangling. Hope this helps💕

Stunning as always! I have curly, dry, frizzy hair and I tried so many different products but the only things that have worked for me are coconut oil, argan oil, castor oil and olive oil. I deep condition my hair with coconut oil, castor oil and olive oil and after I wash my hair with sulfate free and silicone free shampoo, I put coconut oil and argan oil on it. Coconut oil and argan oil moisturize the hair, reduce frizz and make it shiny. Castor oil makes the hair grow whereas olive oil softens the hair and makes it shiny. Natural oils are amazing for curly hair! Much love from Morocco :*

I had the same thing happen to me recently with the product build up tangling my hair and a very flaky scalp, I was told to try an apple vinegar (with the mother, I used Braggs) rinse. I used 1 part vinegar to 1 part water. For my hair, I used half a cup of each but you can adjust it to your length and thickness. I would use the rinse on dry hair in the shower and massage my scalp to the ends and rinse it following up with my regular shampoo and conditioner. It made the tangles and flakes disappear instantly, softened my curls, and it also added a lot of shine in my hair. I would recommend doing this every 2-4 weeks ( 2x a month worked for me) because if you do it too much it can dry your hair or make it frizzy.

That's waaaaaaaaay too much ACV, not necessary at all, it's too acid and can damage hair. I've used vinegar in my hair on/off since '03 but back then people used only like 1-2 tsp. in 1 cup of water, 1 tbsp. at most (which is 3 tsp.). More is definitely not better when it comes to acids or alkalis (like baking soda), one or 2x might not show any ill effects on some people's hair but over time it will. Lorrayne Massey, the creator of the Curly Girl method, recommended in her first book a potion she called "Lemon-aid" for clarifying using the juice of one lemon mixed with a couple of tbsp. of conditioner. Since my hair is fine and I used to keep it shorter I usually used 1/2 a lemon or lime with excellent results.

I've never understood the push for product especially in wavy/curly hair when one considers how much alcohol and other bad things are in them. Nothing positive! I use minimal, lightweight products, a leave in, maybe an oil, and aight hairspray for a bit of texture and hold. I'm 55 and have always been this way. I can't stand product in my hair.

I used to try using product in my hair and it worked nicely during the warmer months, but in winter there was no sun that would dry out my hair so the moisture would just retain or something..? Idk but now I just don’t use any product because I realized I don’t really want or need to really use it. I just like to have my hair soft and voluminous and I don’t mind a tad bit of frizz. My ends are much curlier than my straighter roots and that’s just what works for my wavy curly long hair

Thanks for these tips! I have a question. How do you successfully get castor oil out of the scalp? I've been no poo lately, so I'm not using conventional shampoos. I'd suspect cleaning castor oil might require some heavy sulfates, but I'm not sure. I tried castor oil a few years ago when I was using SLS-free shampoos, but it was so sticky and greasy, I never tried it again! However, I'm intrigued to give it another go...

But now I'm suddenly dealing with breakage and constantly searching for the "magical" product to stop it. The light bulb just went off for me. My hair is SO thin and fine, that I think the products are causing the breakage from weighing it down. I think I'm going to give this a try! However, I need to wean lol. In your video, you say that these products are silicone-free when they are not. I think people should use the products that work for their hair. Although I normally avoid silicones because they make my hair dull and limp, I occasionally use some products that have silicones and I even sometimes wash my hair with shampoo that contains sulfates. I didn't mean my comment to be any sort of criticism of you or the way you care for you hair. I think you are fabulous!

I have 2c hair and it's low porosity. No matter what I do I get this white buildup on my roots.. Should I just use a clarifying shampoo to start getting rid of the buildup and switch to a regular shampoo? I will keep deep conditioning...
@HereIAm247
@HereIAm247 6 жыл бұрын
I can recommend clarifying one last time, and the switching to a sulphate and silicone free routine. Wash every few days like this, and maybe use a regular sulphate shampoo once a month (without silicones of course) I have the same hairtype as you (2c/3a), and low porosity. I found that you need a light, but moisturising conditioner (I am a big fan of deva curls original; it keeps hair moisturised, without weighing it down). Same with oil, I think sweet almond oil should be good for low porosity. :)

I know you posted this months ago but if you can't just muster up the courage all together, try it little by little. Like I'd at first wear my hair curly in a bun and then continue with my straightening for a few days until I mustered up courage again and I'd gradually let down more hair and now I barely straighten my hair anymore. Ofc this is what I did, do what you think will make you most comfortable

I am currently trying this but my hair gets super greasy in th roots without schampoo. It is sooo hard to detangle with only water...Help?

It’s totally okay to use shampoo & conditioner when you shower! For me I just used no styling products. Like creams, mousse, etc.

Going no-leave-in worked for me once. After the next wash, my hair became frizzy and matty without product o_O.

I have the problem that no matter what product or technique I use (or don't use) my hair always ends up looking poofy and frizzy and has uneven texture despite the fact that I have healthy natural hair... any thoughts on that? 🥺

Embrace it? My hair has uneven texture naturally, and I'm just learning to embrace it. I've learned not everyone has an even curl pattern.

Love your hair. I had the same struggle! I decided to embrace my hair, not to blow dry, only using a bit of coconut oil in the ends while it's damp. My hair is long now and I pay more attention to nice small haarclips, my blue eyeliner and long earrings. I feel beautiful again. Good luck.

I can’t understand how can no product be more beneficial than adding products when it comes to curly hair. I can understand that none straight Asian type hair can thrive without product by not curly hair .
