3 Months with the Scuf Envision Pro! [A Completely Honest Review & Overlook of iCue]

Alright y'all its been three full months with the Scuf Envision Pro; and they have been 3 good months. Not a perfect product but one I'm still very happy with; ill be getting into the things I like about the Envision Pro and a few things I wish I could change about it as well.
This is one of my first review videos I've done like this so bare with me while I get better at this videos. I kept it honest to my opinion, nobody is paying me to say anything good/bad about this product so I wanted to remain as neutral as possible. Didn't want to rant for over 20 minutes about the controller so I tried to keep it short and sweet with all my key points. The buttons are the back are close together because they’re designed to be used with one finger. I’m also used to using middle and ring finger, which is why I haven’t picked one up yet. This is designed to roll just your middle finger up for the top and down for the bottom.

Yeah I know the one finger design is a slight drawback but I’ve gotten used to it now with my grip. The one finger press only works in some cases sadly; fast movements and simultaneous commands like a jump to crouch slide feels hard to preform consistently with the single finger. Maybe some upgrades in the future for the envision 2?

A few times here and there the iCue software crashed but it has been flawless since the recent update tbh. I haven’t looked much into the wolverine v2 but seems like a viable contender. Let’s go I definitely agree with you I wish the next model has a touchpad and then scuff could have the face plates with a touchpad cutout. Scuff if you combined this controller with the original scuff vantage 1 for ps4 that would be basically the perfect controller. Bring back the touch pad and audio Touch Bar!!

Also add a psychical profile switch on the back for ultimate customization! That would enable 2X Times the functionality of the G keys without having to pause your game and go into icue …unless you can program a g key to switch profiles ? Not sure if that’s possible

Dude couldn’t have said it any more accurate. The Vantage 1 went crazy and had those long paddles on the back that were still super low profile. That would be the perfect hybrid of comfort and utility. The touch pad would be a huge bonus for PC users cause then you can navigate your whole PC with one singular piece of hardware seamlessly!

Yeah man I honestly would. My only original complaint was the size of the paddles but I quickly got adjusted to the feel coming from the Series 2 to the Envision Pro. Now I really got used to the shoulder buttons and use them way more than I anticipated.

@@hutch3459 dude that was my same issue, I ended up pulling the controller apart a few times and “fixing” them (there are these tiny plastic shims under the bumpers actuators and they are so flimsy they stop making contact and end up missing inputs.) if you haven’t tried pulling it apart it’s worth a shot if anything. It got me a couple more months out of it before it started acting weird again so I caved and got the Scuf

I used to think I enjoyed the Xbox series two paddles but I got a dual sense pro controller with buttons and loved it more. Then I got my scuf envision pro and the finger layout for the buttons are so similar but it’s even more comfortable to me. U have to have the right finger and hand position. Also these paddles are the most responsive I have tried. Most paddles or buttons I have used don’t feel good or have a delay *edit I forgot one important thing for me. I have small hands but on the first two paddles on the back, if the groove was wide it would be game changing it’s a bit too sharp but I’m used to it

I feel that man; I had a slight adjustment period to learn the paddle layout for the scuf but like you said I’m so used to it now it’s not even an issue. They are super responsive with the mouse click and are the least mushy of the paddles I’ve ever used. Top paddles are a little bit nubby but with a slight redesign it would be a perfect controller for ergonomics.

Yeah for people like me coming from the Elite Series 2 it feels a little weird at first if you like resting all four fingers on the paddles. I feel like it was designed with the idea of only having one finger on the paddles at a time. If you rest just your middle finger on the P1 and P4 paddles you could use that middle finger to either apply upwards pressure to hit P2 and P3 or downwards pressure to hit P1 or P4. The input honestly feels smooth and easy to hit the buttons when you use them that way but its not ideal for certain games with movement like apex legends where holding your toggle crouch down (P3) and jumping (P4) is needed simultaneously; all four fingers on the paddle work better for games like that compared to more straight forward game inputs where you don't need multiple inputs going on with the paddles at once. Last scuff had was Vantage 1 to just non stop vibrate no function at all Warranty means nothing to them bc they said we don't support that Vantage 1 anymore even though still under warranty. Last scuff ever wanted to touch but this being the only damn Controller with SAX buttons which have become a 100% must need now. No console controller with then now I don't get it but looking into this 1 despite all complaints on the Icue w.e. program

@@J90.s Yeah it just needs to be running in the background for the g keys to function properly with other apps. If you have your profiles saved to your on board memory on the envision pro everything works fine as a videogame controller. You can still have your g keys programmed for whatever inputs and key bindings to the on board memory and use it like that; but in my case I couldn’t control apps like my insta360 link software and OBS features without having the software running in the background minimized. Glad you loving the controller though. I’ve been running it for like almost a year now and still have no regrets.

@@pizzaxavi nice! Idk I guess it all depends on the controller when buying it and where from some work with the software on some work with the software off! In my case I have all keys map even the gs key and game for about 12 hours a day and I never had a problem yet! I don’t need to have the software on ! Plus it adds delays to ur cpu more usage! I play Cod everyday I have no problem and the controller is so damn accurate. I will make a video soon. Hope it goes well with you but the controller is A 1 💯 Best out now!

YES! iCue allows for the G-Keys, Shoulders and Rear Paddles to be reprogrammed to anything you can think of. Macros work, Keystrokes work, you could even do things like launch apps and mute microphones. The only things that are NOT reprogrammable on the Envision pro is the standard face buttons. (ABXY/START/PAUSE/D-PAD/THUMBSTICK CLICKS) can not be reprogrammed. They will also continue to work so long as you saved the bindings to your controllers on board memory. Your allowed 3 savable profiles to swap between on the fly.

Honestly man I feel you big time, the vantage 1 is the only other Scuf controller I ever used and it was the intro to sax buttons but dude seriously, so hard to not have them now it feels like a must. Despite all the complaints the internet through out there the controller has treated me very well. I ain’t sponsored by Scuf or anything so I owe them no kind words. The controller is nice; when I first got it iCue was kinda buggy but now it have zero complaints; it doesn’t close out on me or anything like that. All my programming works for keybinds and the build quality for my controller has been holding up. Some people have issues with triggers not working or drift. I can’t speak to those issues luckily but just like you man I took that risk and was happy with my purchase.

@@pizzaxavi when did this come out? I'm wondering if I should wait for maybe envision 2 if ever one. Don't wana get this then something happen in a year. Then tell me can't fix because they don't support / have parts anymore. (Because they moved to next new one.) It's troubling when even under warranty most likely won't cover it after a year or new controller they make comes. Trying envision 2 pro at best buy it felt better than any controller ever. Not hard to push back buttons with pinky like was with Xbox elite controller for Xbox 1. Thank you though really need some true honest feedback especially from non Scuff fans like me thanks to their warranty issue. Never had issue with Vantage 1 never dropped it. Then 1 day plug in non stops vibrates. Can't do anything about it. Might wait till next yr when the rtx 5090 comes so can get a custom PC from Origin when they release n maybe by then be envision 2. Yeah man there definitely is a way, but that’s big cheating in CoD to use it that way. Just have to mess with the delay times in the macro settings. Don’t get banned though.

I heard other people saying they had a pop off shot too lol One thing you can do to remedy it is make sure your trigger deadzones in iCue aren’t too low. Under the triggers tab there’s a spider bar to adjust the input for the trigger. With them being in mouse click mode it’s easy for that trigger to go off so play with that sensitivity and you should be all good.

I ended up returning mine because it would constantly lose its configuration even if iCue was open. Seems like if the PC went to sleep, the controller would stop working properly. I would have to reboot to get it to work again. But it would just fail again a soon as the PC went to sleep. Did this get fixed?

I’m going to film a video later about the newest firmware update that was release yesterday! I had minimal issues with the software in the past but people have said more recent updates “bricked” the controller. I’m going to make a new video and see if the update fixes anything or just bricks my controller like others are saying. Wish me luck!

I hear that man; I never tried aim controllers but they do look super worth the price point with all the amount of customizations that could go on with it. Definitely wish they put some Hall effects in this scuf since it’s become more and more common of a feature in 3rd party controls but the main selling point was the G-Keys for me on this control. It’s like having a stream deck and a controller all in one. It peaked my interest and I’m not upset with scuf for it. I think if I’m the future they workout the software issues rework the shape of the paddles a bit and throw some Hall effects in here it would be a close to perfect control in my opinion. I want to look more into Aim Controllers now too though thanks for the heads up.

@@pizzaxavi hey anytime I own a envision pro myself I probably owned every controller on the market as im an og gamer and I'll say this I love the envision pro I already run icue sense my PC is a full Corsair build anyways so I haven't personally had any issues with with that software at all but I will say aim controllers is hands down one of the best pro controllers out on the market right and if you do ever want to get a aim controller use my homies code to get a nice chunk dropped from the price the code is " KAPZ " And that will bring the price to a way more affordable number 😁 you definitely won't be disappointed in the aim hall effect controller but the envision pro controller is definitely a very nice PC controller and with the just a few minor upgrades the envision would be my top pro controller out on the market today

Yeah the smaller paddles seem almost designed for one finger at a time; if you got one finger on both paddles back there you could like click upwards and downwards pretty comfortably but for myself I like having one finger each paddle and that kind of makes it a little cramped back there at first.

I found ICUE 5 genuinely unuseable wouldn't start whatever I did I'm familiar with ICUE 4 as I've been using the Corsair K100 and Virtuoso XT for like 3 years now but ICUE 5 has never worked for me even when I tried to update to it before the controller was even out.

Yeah tbh this is my first experience with iCue as a whole and seems like I’ve entered at the wrong time 😅 I don’t know why some updates fail to install I’m also still having that problem and it’s frustrating but at least in my case it hasn’t hindered my experience with the control. All its functions still work no problem so I hope that stays the case for me.

Nah to my knowledge the Scuf Envision is the only product that works for the iCue software.

Ps4/ps5 ones. i’ve the scuf envision pro. i bought it a couple of months ago but i can’t get used to it. so i just packed it and kept it. i try to use it sometimes but its not just for me lol. i’m looking for someone to give it to but i haven’t found any yet. if you want it or know anyone that do wants this please LMK. i can send it to them for free. this isn’t a scam comment. i’ve a lot of custom controllers. i currently use the Vader v3 pro so i don’t really need the scuf Edit: they don’t need to pay me anything or send me any money btw. they can just pay to the logistics company and have them pick it up from my place and deliver to them

Yeah it does use more of your resources, it’s essentially playing a video on loop over and over on your controller. It looks cool but not really the best use of your CPU.

I’ve had mine since Christmas and the left trigger broke, when I press it once it’ll actually be pressed multiple times. I only use mouse click triggers so that could be what caused it, but I feel like 5 months for a high end controller to be unusable is not okay. It is covered under warranty tho so I’m getting it repaired for free, it’s just an annoyance. Has anyone else ran into this issue or did I just likely have a defective model?

@@pizzaxavi the only interaction I had with support was them approving my request, the process to get my controller repaired was pretty easy. I just filled out a form with my order # and the Scuf seal of approval number (which is the controller serial number) and they emailed me, approving my repair request within an hour of submitting the form. I just shipped the controller out today so if I remember, I’ll come back to let you know how long it takes for them to repair and send back my controller

Nah; I felt weird transferring over too at first. Even though thumbstick placement is the same the control in hands feels a little more snub on the grips compare to the DS5. I think its more of a xbox style body feel with DS5 thumbstick orientation.
