Actually, the _Pontiac Solstice_ killed Pontiac. It was a joint platform (Saturn Sky, Opel Speedster, I think Vauxhall might’ve had a model too, don’t remember), and the _amount of money shelled out for R&D_ *was ridiculous*

@@Wizard__J And GM touted the Solstice as a "Miata killer"; it failed, of course. I did like the Saturn Sky design though. BTW, I still own the Miata I bought in 1989

Obama killed pontiac bcuz it competed with chevy when GM got bailed out with tax payers dollars. Chrysler got bailed out for 7 billion then Fiat bought new chysler for 5.7 billion leaving tax payers owning old Chrysler for 1.3 billion of paper assets. These bailouts were very cheap interest rates. Meanwhile joe blow cant even be late on a car payment without trashing their credit.
