Vital is an amazing free synth that literally looks feels and functions like serum. for me personally its even better than serum. the only advantage that serum has is that there are a lot more presets available for serum

Stuff like how many bars before the hook, how long should the hook be, how to keep the song moving and interesting without having the same repetitive sounds. honestly, what i did in this vid is most of what you need to know. I'd recommend building your 808 exactly as I did and then tweaking the decay on the envelope and also try different distortions. All distortions will give the 808 a different character
