The stuck lift scene, where a grieving Rodney opens up to Del about losing his baby, is one of the most emotional scenes in the series.

This is something ofah did so well, they could go from comedy to tragedy then back to comedy again in an instant, like a Shakespearean play. Two stick in my mind, Cassandra's miscarriage and when Rodney isn't happy with Del after Grandads funeral and Del gives that always playing the tough guy even though he didn't want to speech, brilliant writing and acting, can't beat a bit of Only Fools.

@@marcthomas83 That moment is brilliant because it shows how quickly Del had to grow up in order to care for his brother. He had to have more bounce than Zebadee and he couldn't allow himself to show weakness. He had to be Del Boy.

Every single time I hear “Holding Back the Years” by Simply Red (over the last 30 years) I picture Del Boy standing alone as Rodney has flown the nest. Wonderful scene then the genius that was John Sullivan followed it with …. “You don’t live here no more!”

They missed the best bit from 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire': when Rod heads for his bedroom, he stops at his door, turns to Del and says "you know", and Del Says "I know"... they were saying that they love each other...but they can't say it outright.

One of the best things about OFAH for me was how they could take something so sad or serious and still find humour in it. Like the funeral scene with Grandads/The Vicars hat 🤣
@flannerymonaghan-morris48255 ай бұрын
This show is actually more of a dramedy than just out and out sitcom, and these scenes show it.

You have got to be joking. The scene where Rodney talks about losing his son and says "I have not felt pain like that in all my life". That, was the single most powerful moment in the history of this series and, unlike many of the other clips you showed for....whatever reason, ( they weren't serious for the most part ) this part was genuine pain and showed the heart of everyone involved with this production and why it was unique.

Another emotional scene of mine is where, Delboy is telling Rodney why he has to act the way he does people. I think the line is ‘it’s not because I want to, it’s because I had too, and I’ve played it for so long now I don’t now how to act any diffident’ something along those lines. OFAH is phenomenal acting and can watch it anytime if the year. But Christmas time seems to be the most comforting. Being a London boy when I was at uni I was home sick, I used to put on OFAH and would feel better.

Rodney couldn’t enter Australia for the same reason I’m not allowed to enter North America, cannabis offences.
