The oil resist has taken your already fabulous work to a new level. The textures shown in your close ups are stunning. Love the way the 8 disappears into the orange red mist! I was also interested in how you did youyr lines with that quirky wave in some of them. Best R

When I went to Blick, I went to the store in Carle Place, the first paint I put in my basket was Blickcrylic Raw Sienna. It's the color that I associate with your lessons. Now I'm kind of obsessing over more Blicks to go to near where my children live and it's all your fault.I guess there are worse things to be called, but Fulton, you are an enabler!

I have never heard of using vaseline and baby oil with acrylics. As long as there is no problem with acid in those products I can see where it creates great effects. I wonder how mineral oil would affect the paint? I am always concerned of acid content in paper like newspaper or magazine pages for mixed media, for example. And additive products to paint. These prints are beautiful. I too love Strathmore paper and just bought a big pad like yours.

@@artwhisperer88 I will show you, but I’m moving slowly. BTW, I made my first trip to Blick Art Supply in Milwaukee today. It was really fun. Your youtube playlist about the shop & supplies, on the home page of your channel, has been very helpful, & I decided to get the paper, paint, & a sharpie or two there. I made compromises - educated ones, thanks to you - due to price, & to the fact that I’m a novice. One lady - she was an artist herself, & very nice - tried to talk me out of watercolor paper, but I explained that I would be using student acrylics, which have more fluid & extenders, and I needed absorption, so she decided the watercolor paper would be ok. 😆

Love your videos and commentary. I'm always amazed at the finished results. I've noticed that when you pull the prints the gell plate sticks to the table top and doesn't pull up with the paper. Do you use any sort of adhesive to hold the plate down or is it just stickiness of the plate and the surface of the tabletop that makes the plate stick? Thanks for sharing!

Thank you very much for your great videos. Just a quick question: aren’t you worried with baby oil that the print isn’t archival or does the oil may do something to the color later on?
@artwhisperer88
@artwhisperer88 8 ай бұрын
No not at all. I don't understand this obsession with the term "archival" I consulted a conservation company and they clearly stated on their website that the term "archival" is non-quantifiable and very arbitrary. How do you measure it with data/statistics? Do you have visual proof of degradation? Does this mean if it is not to arbitrary archival standards you should not make art? 🤔
@stefaniekappel

@@artwhisperer88 in some instances it is important. For example if you work with resin, you might run into yellowing issues after a year, if you do not use the “right” resin. I come from photography and here again, you can run quickly into yellowing issues. Also, if using house paint in painting, they can flake easily. It is not an issue for experimental work but material does become an issue when working with galleries or selling work.

@@artwhisperer88 So, part of the reason the Baby Oil & Vaseline resist gives a "lacey" texture to the acrylic paint is due to the not-so-smooth texture of cold press watercolor paper?
