That was an awesome swamp tour. That alligator was ready to protect its nest. You found a great place to eat too. Looks like you guys are on a great trip something similar to what I did in April but I used Amtrak.

I lucked out when my son went to Lafayette for college on baseball & academic scholarships. Clean, fun town with the nicest people I've ever met. We made lifetime of memories & friendships. Their restaurants in the area will beat most in the New Orleans area. So many hidden gems. High Five for finding a precious gem of a town, and I'm a Texan!

Our b&b host recommended this restaurant! We always listen to locals. The food in Louisiana was amazing! We would go back just to eat lol. 🤣

Like 10 👍 Greetings from Naples, Florida. Some neat places, indeed. I can relate to the swamp as I lived in Alexandria, LA for a few years and would canoe around swamps like that. Thanks for sharing, have a great weekend. 💯

Borel's tour was a very local tour. The guy who took us out grew up on the lake. He was funny and very personal. It was an incredible experience. A swamp tour should definitely be on your list if you are visiting Lafayette! I am glad you have had such a positive experience with your swamp tour! We will have to check them out if we go back to Lafayette. 🙂

We had a lot of fun on the swamp tour. Borel's tour was really good. He knew everything about the swamp, and he was funny. We did not know that was what an alligator's nest looked like until he showed us. Thanks for watching! 🙂

Thanks for watching! We had a lot of fun here. The people are so friendly. The food is amazing. We tried our best to show things there and pronounce some of the words. They are fun to say like Etouffee. 🙂

go back without the kids, stay downtown at Juliet or Blue Moon and take in the downtown area and check out some of the music venues, take the short drive over to Avery Island and tour the gardens and the Tabasco plant, walk the UL campus and visit Cypress Lake in the middle of campus. There are to many things to do in Lafayette to only stay for a day

We would love to visit Louisiana again! We loved it! Thank you for all the suggestions! Lafayette was a lot of fun, and yes, you need more than a day and 2 nights to explore. 🙂

You did great a great job at hitting some of the highlights of my part of the world. As you said, 1 day is not even close to seeing everything in the heart of Cajun country. Tabasco factory in Avery Island, Shadows on the Teche in New Iberia, Acadiana Village, Downtown Lafayette, so, so much more. And you just had a literal taste of our food. So glad that you enjoyed our little corner of the world. Come back soon y'all!

There is no swamp and alligators in Lafayette Louisiana

We drove just 20 minutes to Lake Martin in neighboring Breaux Bridge. It is so close and something we were told to do in Lafayette. Also, according to Google, "Breaux Bridge, just a few minutes northeast of Lafayette, is counted within the larger Lafayette Metropolitan statistical area." So it is a smaller area counted into a bigger city. 🙂
