This is why I prefer Pat's easy hitch. Now everything's mucked up for the next attachment. The real struggle is always the bottom pins, especially heavier attachments, and Pats make it easy. Top is no biggie especially with hyd toplink.

Hi Tim, thank you for your honest review. We forwarded your feedback to the manufacturer of Tractor Basics. We hope they can modify the attachments to make them more compatible and easier to use with the quick hitch system.

Your troubles with the quick hitch is why I was so turned off by them. I have older attachments from multiple manufactures including homebuilt ones and being all different dimensions it would have been a nightmare trying to connect them. Bought the Pat's Easy Change ends and a longer top link and couldn't be happier. Allows for easier on/off of the three point attachments on the Massey 1840e. Learned a lot from your videos, keep up the good work.

Don’t take this the wrong way because I love watching your channel but it amazes he how much you focus on a quick hitch. I literally use tractors every day and change implements very often and never use one and get by just fine. But to each his own I guess but I wouldn’t waist my time worrying about them things

The big advantage of a disc is how much area you can cover versus a tiller. A disc normally operates at 5-6MPH in order to properly turn the soil. This is much faster than any tiller.

As previously mentioned…the long support should be attached to the lower hole and not the top. I checked their site and their pic shows bottom hole. I may be mistaken, but check it out. Being attached to top hole has the top link connect point leaning back too far I do believe. My attachments have different hook placement requirements also on the quick hitch, but mine are older pieces. I use slip pins with knuckle buster rings so I don’t have to wrench to change upper hook height on quick hitch.

One alternative to the quick hitch is to go with Pats easy change. Our older little Kubota wasn't compatible with the quick hitch, so we jad to go with the Pats system. With a hydraulic top link, a Pats might be just a quick. Whoa did i just put out a challenge. LOL 😆

Amen on your quick hitch comments. I picked up an aftermarket on sale at Rural King, fought the hook until you mentioned Ken's extended hook. I also threw away the bolts and switched to pins and lynch pin retainers. Seems every time i change attachments i need to move the hook up or down. And every attachment was advertised as quick hitch compatible!

Best way to run that disc is with no quick hitch. Then throw just enough weight on the back of the disc to lift the front tires of the tractor then when your disking you can just lift the 3 point and jab 1 brake at the end of the row to spin around but when you lower it you have full steering again. Saves much time

Nice to see Bullseye and friend getting involved as well! Man, this was refreshing. It had to be very frustrating for you, but to see an honest review, and to hear honest and raw opinions was just great. I feel like all of the tractor videos I’ve been watching for some time now are just people gushing over equipment someone sent them for free to review, and the only negatives they ever talk about are things that don’t really matter. Hopefully Tractor Basics, and others, sees this, learns from it and makes better products.

As I watched you working on the top link all I could think was loosen the lower bolts so it’s not under pressure. And Yes I learned that the hard way. I would loosen those bolts, add a bigger spacer, and round off the edges. As a lower price point buyer this is always part of my plan. I know I’ll be refining it to my preferences even if I bought a higher end item so start with expectations and extra bolts. Blessings.

Looks to me like the back gang either needs a fifth blade, or widened out a lot like you mentioned. It appears all the dirt the front gang's outer blade throws out, would be missed by the back gang, the way it's currently set up. The back gang needs to be wider than the front to pull the dirt back in that the front gang throws out.

Hiya Tim ! I put a 5' disc just like what you have there on my stock 1025r this year. It is a truly vintage piece from King Plow, probably made in the late 60's or early 70's. I can't quite tell, because I can't find the exact logo that's on the disc vs. what I can find in image searches. Anyway, suffice to say it is beastly heavy tube steel and has 18" notched discs like yours. The FEL takes good effort to pick it up. Anyway, I have done 3 "new" gardens with it measuring from a couple thousand sq ft, all the way up to a 20,000 SF. - All of these were ground that had previously been lawn, so there was a lot of turf to deal with. My opinion is that it does GREAT breaking up soil in prep for tilling, though I'd like to add even more weight to what is there for virgin ground to get just a bit more depth on the first passes. It would do astonishingly well for food plot work where one is using a "no-till" seed. I feel the same for garden/farming that has already been worked before. It will absolutely open up last years garden area with near-zero effort. Can't wait to see your field tests ! -- Blessings to you and the family, and stay well my friend ..

I have built quite a few 3 point attachments for farm use probably somewhere around 10 managed to make them all quick hitch compatible. Converted several to match a quick hitch. Every single implement that I have not built is always just slightly off from being quick hitch compatible. I got tired of it and pulled the quick hitches off all the tractors and went back to the old fashioned way. Great when they work but until every company uses the exact same measurements I won’t be using a quick hitch anymore. The ones I have I will maybe put on tractors that aren’t used as much but I won’t be buying more

I'm sure you've probably covered it in the past Tim, but a thorough run through of all the attachment types would be pretty useful - JDQA, skid steer, cat numbering, I-Match, etc. It gets pretty confusing really fast! Even if just to understand to what standards third party manufacturers are following when making their attachments, so that consumers can look out for these compatibilities when considering attachments. The market does seem to be missing out on some opportunities here? To what extent are the OEM's driven by what they see in the aftermarket? For example, the car enthusiast market used to do things like put underglo lights and interior light modifications on their cars - now every OEM car maker has some sort of trick interior lighting. It took maybe 20 years for that cross over to happen, but the car makers eventually caught on. Aftermarket car parts also spawned a lucrative OEM spares market (think BMW M-Sport, Mercedes AMG, etc., where you can spec your car to pretty much anything you like). It'd be interesting to hear your take on how people like Ken @ Bolt On Hooks influence Deere, et al (if they do at all)?

Quick hitches are for suckers!!! 😂😂😂. I’ve never seen that they actually truly work nor make your life easier…. The truth is….. easily hooking up an implement with any 3 pt hitch is ALWASY DICTATED by how you unhook and leave said implement for reconnecting later. I was taught to always unhook on graded level ground without fail…. I don’t mean ground that looks level…. I mean actual LEVEL GROUND that you have graded and shot elevation on. The best is to have a concrete strip poured to drop and store all your implements on ( which is what I have have for 20 years of so ). You also need a level concrete pad that is large enough to hold the tractor and any implement that you have in order to dial in/adjust the implement to correct pitch and angle for the task you are about to perform. Taking this approach and mind set many years ago make your life SIMPLE and you can connect any implement that you own in mere minutes and trouble free….. the final SECRET in this process is……………. ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS run the same air pressure in your tires….. it’s amazing how much 1 pound of air can throw everything off when trying to hook up….. it’s like how so many people can’t hook up a 540 rpm PTO drive line.. is so so simple and one that I e never had a problem doing quickly trouble free. Park pointing down hill on heavy driveline attachment and they just slide on with gravity doing all the work for you! 😂😂😂.

Tim, I hate being a critic, because I love your videos. Having worked in a dealership, I've assembled a lot of 3 point implements. What my eyes are seeing is that you have the top support struts in the wrong place. I hate saying that to you. But I honestly think the struts need to go in the hole where you have the quick hitch hook. By doing that, the top link mount will be tilted forward, too, which will help with the geometry. If you were just using the regular 3 point, less quick hitch, I think maybe that you would see that a standard top link can't be attached, with the way your support struts are mounted. Again, I hate being a critic, but im honestly and genuinely trying to be helpful.

I bought a brush mower from tsc and I had to pay a premium price. The quality of it isn't that great. When certain pieces were cut they never ground the edges and made them look good. So I had to do that otherwise those areas are quite sharp and very easy to get cut. I have the same problem with their rear blades. Once as i was pulling the top pin on the 3 point link my arm through my shirt ripped the skin just below my elbow. Very bloody. This rear blade didn't come with a stand to set it down so i made one and welded it to the side of the frame and it works very well.

Hey Tim curious if you'd offer your thoughts on the recent Everything Attachments news/drama.

Everything Attachments treated me horribly. They insulted my Christianity. They called me names. Threw every insult in the books at me. They are liars and crooks. That is all I have to say about the topic.

You didn’t put disc together right is why it’s not working. Should not be in top hole the rear braces

I think the smaller disc would work better for the 75hp tractors with more 'Ummpft", specially if you add weights on the back for digging in. I'd like a set of discs, but the costs for what they are at the time. The CountyLine ones are much cheaper.

Im curious how it will pull, I have the same HP and the same size disc but it struggles to pull unless in 4 wheel drive, but I can pick it way up on my 1526

@@TractorTimewithTim I also bought that hook extension using code ttwt of course! I have a small hobby farm in LaPorte, Indiana just to the north of you as the crow flies. Have you ever put out a video on gadgets like the hook extention and other necessary things to have to connect using the quick or not so quick attach systems that unfortunately as you know don't match up without mods?

I have Pat’s Quick Hitch system, I never have a problem hooking up my 3 point, ( Three minutes maybe ) I get the quick hitch that you have but the setting up part makes it so dam daunting that for the advantage of dropping two handles from the seat ( When you finally get it attached ) just isn’t worth it. ( The squeeze ain’t worth the Juice ) so to say. I’ll stay with the Pat’s System.

another common mistake with discs is that people think they are for breaking new ground and that is not the case for all discs most are designed for stubble tillage or breaking clods after a moldboard plow

A disc is not a plow. If you want the disc to do more than scuff the surface, you need to use a plow/chisel plow/field cultivator first.
