I liked the line - at the end of the day, when you find what works for you, then you don't have to listen to anyone. 🔥🔥🔥 These days literally Everyone has something to advise you, some rules, some principles, do's and don'ts etc. This is really overwhelming .

1. Context Switch kills focus and productivity. Separate yourself from things that distract you. Examples include living with your family, errands, friends and useless college tasks. 2. Don't do the stuff you don't love. Varun is ruthless about saying no to things he does not want to do. 3. Be outcome-independent. Live life in a series of projects and don't care about the outcome or everyone's opinions. Productivity doesn't come without sacrifices. I'm going to have to rewatch this multiple times. GG

SMALL SUMMARY(BUT VIDEO IS MUST WATCH) 1. context switch-5-6 hour full on focus necessary , even a single distraction will now take you extra 30 min to focus again 2.donot do stuff you do not want to 3. being outcome independent- keeping way from log kya khaenge

He said- Don't do something that you don't love. The problem with this is people need to understand that passion is an outcome of action. He says- Degrees are not important. Don't fall into the trap. He's an intelligent guy who understands his work and especially human behavior. He's capitalizing on the insecurities of common students.
@being1better8013 жыл бұрын
My view You really don't need degree, beacuse if college you have to do all by yourself. In degree assignments and exam preparation wastes our time. First of all they teach outdated syllabus Secondly they give shitty assignments Third exam tests our remembering ability they don't test our understanding or creativity College is just for socializing College is to get good friends and environment

Makes full sence.. had a discussion with a fam member on this ..thanks for voicing it out.. For artists.. entrepreneurs.. creators.. the hyperfocus zone/ flow state is what we need ..to sit with problem.. to explore a medium and so on.. Context switch reallyyy does make is take a lot more breaks.. if triggered at an external pace.

Here's what I love about this video - I've been shamed by my family since a young age for obsessing over a hobby/skill. I'd obsess over it for a few weeks to months and leave it once I felt I finished my objective. My family would say on-loop "something is seriously wrong with you, how will you ever succeed in life like this", asking why I go into obsessive focus ignoring everything when I'm into something. This got so bad year after year that after a point I curbed my "obsessive hobby phases". A few still found their way out in college, but I've curbed at least half of my curiosities over the last 7 years due to a fear of being shamed, and I still feel that. It is immensely reassuring to now hear, at 22 years of age, that all that shame was bullshit. I always had a hunch that it was but I wasn't sure enough on this topic as a kid to stand my ground. I would argue I don't know how to learn a complex skill/subject I have an interest in with moderation. Even after I started making money, my family was like alright, respect, but why do you obsessively work on a project when you're into it and then crash and recover. "Keep balance, there's no point in working so much if you can't even eat and sleep on time. Is this how you will achieve success?" I know they're well-wishers, but misinformed and incorrect ones when it comes to this. This problem is solved with period separation from parents. Wish I knew this earlier, Gg :D If you're a kid who relates to this, this is the reassurance sign you wanted - There's nothing wrong with you. March forward into your interests💪🏻

Context switch not only distracts you and makes you less productive it also makes your brain tired very soon. For instance, you can watch Joe Rogan for 3 straight hours and feel less tired than scrolling through Instagram posts for just 1 hour. Thanks, Varun this is an amazing video. You are not a motivational speaker, and I don't believe in motivation, but it feels good and encouraging whenever I watch you.

It's just very true especially the context switch thing I mean that has been the major reason why I have been unproductive for the past 2 years and these 2 years I have been with my family and this unproductivity was not there while I was living in my pg room because literally nobody was there to distract me I was working

Me, who spent 6-7 hours daily on debugging issue, I can agree to your points to some extent. But I would also recommend not taking breaks after longer focused thiking is not beneficial. Whenever we feel that we are not getting desired outcome from our hours of focused mode. We should take walk, or little nap, or any other relaxed activity such as playing with tennis ball. And while doing this activity you go in diffuse mode thinking and you would see something gets trigger and you get new ideas, new solutions, new steps to solve problem in your brain, at that point you should resume working. We should not discount our power of subconscious mind. This works 90% of the time. You can check out many scientists, artist you will find these things are common in them.☺️ Whoever is reading this comment, if this comment helps you let me know
