The winter time of the year can when you catch your biggest bass. I have always fished every opportunity that I have during the winter months. This is my favorite time of the year to fish! One of the biggest factors is how you can catch quality size bass in every trip. In today's video I share three fishing techniques that I have used to catch big winter bass. I will go over the baits, the areas, what to look for, and talk about retrieves.

I hear a lot of you-tubers talk about people struggling with a jig. 🤷‍♀️ I can’t understand that statement. I have been fishing it over 50 years and the jig was the first bait I fell in love with! It is so versatile! I am NEVER on the water with out several tied on 👍.. I guided for several years and had a few rookies in my boat. It seems they had more problems working a spook and such than a jig. Hook setting was always a difficult thing to teach. Yes I encourage treble hooks techniques to increase hook ups! However if a jig bite was on, my clients did well. Just saying 🤷‍♀️ Maybe they struggle more with when and where to fish it than the actual jig? Love the videos. Keep them coming.

Yeah man we get a lot of comments about the jig. I think if they get in the boat. See it or get to experience it then it helps for sure. It is very versatile! Appreciate the feedback 👍🏽👍🏽

I'm one of those guys that struggles. You are spot it's more when and where. Working a jig itself isn't too hard, and the hook set isn't bad either. It's def the confidence knowing when to throw it.

This was a great video. For your jig rod, do you prefer the MH or the H usually? Thanks again. Best video I’ve seen in awhile.

Can you please let us know how deep the water is at the boat and how deep the fish are when you catch one. We need this info with every technic to truly understand. Thanks man.

Thank you for the content. Could you give us an idea where you are? Be general. Region is important. Winter fishing in Florida is not the same as fishing here in NY. Also, you got to tell us the gear ratio. Throwing a lipless crank or an A rig on a 8:1 compared to 5:1 is miles apart. Thanks brother!
@TheFishingCoach
@TheFishingCoach 8 ай бұрын
Yeah I am 50/50 on mentioning gear ratios when I go over baits / technique. Lipless I like 6:4.1 to 7:3.1. Alabama rig I use typically 7:3.1 but 6:4.1 will work too. I am located in Arkansas. Fish mostly from here into Texas. Appreciate your feedback 👍🏽

@@TheFishingCoach thanks Pard. The reason I asked about gear ratios is because winter fishing means slow. Sometimes getting a cadence down with a fast reel is annoying. Thanks again brother!
@TheFishingCoach
@TheFishingCoach 8 ай бұрын
Yes I understand! For some reason with the lipless I can still have the higher gear ratio and have success. But for the blades jig I have to use a 6:2.1. Slowing down on it in the winter has gave me a lot more success 👍🏽
