It’s amazing to be introduced to chess at such a young age, become an international master, and yet still be able to say, “I have never seen this line before.” Chess is truly spectacular

I never get these exact positions in real life, but I have seen a lot of board positions that remind me of some of your games, and it most often becomes a matter of board position and patterns. I find your KZbin and Twitch to be very instructional.

At 5:45 why cant White knight to e8. Queen Hass him in check. Black king moves to g8 then white queen slides to g7 for mate isn't that the best move?

Good job on creating a quality chess videos and a wholesome chess community, at the time of my commenting there are 201 likes and 0 dislikes. I don't think I've ever seen a youtube video before with 0 dislikes. But you can't deny that minature is one of the best of all time. Does this mean that 6. Nge7 is losing by force?

@Cahnehg
@Cahnehg 4 жыл бұрын
The Hikaru Magnus game he talks about was in the Chess 24 Legends of Chess iirc, it’s online and unrated so I doubt a database would have it. A twitch stream might have archived it but finding the whole game with commentary might be hard. chess24 might have it as well

Why not Nh6 on move 9? Wouldn't that be discover check then slide the queen to g7 mate because the knight defends the queen now
@johnmeo1532
@johnmeo1532 4 жыл бұрын
Knight can take queen to eliminate the piece making the discovered check. The other line he showed with the black king going to g7 only works because the discovered check is actually double check, meaning the king can ONLY move to get out of check.

Mr. Eric Rosen, when doing mental calculations of plausible/possible lines, do you mentally visualize the chess pieces in 2-Dimensional form, as is the case for numerous virtual chess games, or in 3-Dimensional form, as is the case for in-person gameplay?
