I have a few samplers, Mpc 2000xl has a dense quality. I use the 16 levels a lot. Solid machine, rarely crashes, like copy all params, and easy time signatures, something missing in the new Mpc. I actually use the step edit a lot. The screens usually develop lines😢, can replace floppy with cf card or a scsi emulator. Very good sequencer. Pads very good, and jog wheel excellent. Tilted screen great. Pair with an akai rack sampler 😊

Agree, solid machine, and step edit is very useful!

Very informative video. Thank you. I have a 2KXL too, but I need to repair it. Fortunately I also have a 500 and a 3000 so I'm covered while I'm waiting to fix it. Glad you are enjoying using it. It's so comfortable to use. The new ones must be faster but I enjoy the journey with these old MPCs

Great review. Good to see more people using the MPC 2000xl in 2023. I use the MPC 2000xl as I love the sound it creates sonically.

Agree, it has a nice sound and the limitations of the machine make you work for it.

Lovely to see gear built like a tank, eager to find out what you can do with it in this modern age.

I love mine. Countless albums made on a 2kxl.

If you chop you samples in the mpc you’re bugging! It takes too long, you should chop on the fly. Manual live chop and then do fine adjustment.

I had an MPC One and I hated it... I just bought an MPC 2000XL 😂 I reckon, the OS and style is more my speed.

I really loved your video! I’m thinking about getting one even though I have some of the newer Akai equipment but for the longest time I wanted a working 2000xl. What are you running it through? I see you have it connected to your Korg and another device, I was wanting to use it for midi sequencing if possible. Can you record just like a piano loop or something into it? I’m still new at producing so km just trying to get a better grasp on it. Thanks!

Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video. You can use it for MIDI sequencing external synths and you can also record into it and sequence those sounds internally. The other device in this video is a simple audio switcher so I can easily switch between different inputs. I have 2 more videos on the MPC where I sample and sequence stuff, that might be helpful as well! I got this MPC second hand and the screen was barely working, but it is easy to replace, MPCStuff sells new screens and it's quite easy to install.

@@klankenkabaal thank you so much for the info! I had a 2000xl years ago that I bought used and was also needing a screen and floppy replacement. I bought the screen and drive and let someone borrow it to replace it for me but they lost it unfortunately so I never got to play on it. Thinking about getting one now just to mess around with it and see how well it could work for me. Will be checking out your other videos to help me with the purchase!

My favourite + the best looking But the 3000 and 4000 are also top tier

Right, especially like the look of the 3000 as well
@Deatg-ek8rf8 ай бұрын
@klankenkabaal Yea the 3000 is beautiful, all the classic ones that with less cluttered interfaces the 4000 with a flip screen all look great, so that's included the 2000XL but also the 60mk1, form factor and economics of the 2000XL are unbeaten for me though, drumming with the right hand and performing all button function with the left is ergonomically unparalleled and will never happen again as now touch screens are the center point so youll never get pads where the right hand naturally sits again unfortunately. Your pad playing hand raises higher than your button pressing hand, notice how the 2000XL screen is on the left, with pads and screen in line your pad playing actually obscures the screen, the 2000XL is ergonomically the greatest pad sampler ever created. This is why I prefer it over the 4k which is technically better. And the 3k is better in ways too but it's the ergonomics of the 2kxl for, it is very close to perfection in thar regard.
