Three riders set out to get a feel for the fuel injected Husqvarna TE250i dirt bike. On today’s ride, Tyler brought his 2018 KTM 250 XC-F, Sam brought his 2017 KTM 300 XC, and I have the 2018 Husky TE250i. This is the bike that Husqvarna loaned me for about a month to evaluate and review.
The motor runs very crisp and clean. It is really something special in that regard. I think that most guys are really going to like this bike. Some guys will nit pic, and I will do some of that too in later videos, but for now, if I’m using just one word to describe my feelings on the bike, it would be “impressive”. For the riders out there that haven’t experienced a 2 stroke that is properly jetted, this will be a game changer for them. I will have to ride this thing back to back with a really good running carbureted 250 two stroke (lucky for me that I own one) to know for sure if the hit is any softer in the power band.
If you look at the tail pipe and see that there is no oil coming out of the end of it, you would assume that it runs pretty lean as far as the oil is concerned. Yes, it still smokes like a smoker, but the oil is most likely being used more efficiently with the oil pump thereby reducing the amount coming out of the exhaust.
More to come on this bike and it’s KTM brother.
Special thanks to my $10/month patrons on / dirtbikechannel
Robert Van Huss, Nick Ptolemy, Brian Falcon, Max Messina, Kelly Roach, Bryson Stafford, Seth Green, Terence Seymour, Sean Williams, David Mariotti, Ryan Woodley, Jon Colson, Flo Motorsports, Nate Winget, Steven Brady, Travis Winston, Steve Yurko, Keith Snow, Chad Cooper, Jim Bass, Nathan Weber, Mitchell Forrest, Mark Fleischman, Dion Jaramillo, Ken Paulino, Paul Warner

Great Video, i watch you since i got my KTM 125 exc from 2016. I really liked the different point of you in this video Im going to change to a new machine, im either thinking of a 350 exc-f or a 250 exc tpi both as a brand new machine. Im scared that the 350 wont have the low pop and feel heavy coming out of a light 125. I already tried a 450 husberg from a friend, i liked the tractor feeling when climbing hill but i didnt try it long enough to see how it really handle "technical" parts (i got an average level, im more about the good time then the speed). On the other hand, 250 tpi, well i aint scared of anything lol i guess i just would wait the next year model. (sorry for the bad english)

I bet tire will change how the clutch engages and the engine's power band in the bottom and mid throttle. The large lugs on my atv tires Make the bike to grippy on rocks just above surface. Smaller lugs like will help on dry hard pack surfaces.

@moimeme7839

Lectron carb more dirty (power, torque, but probably not a great difference) but less fuel economy. Keep in mind they are 600$ carburators🤷🏻‍♂️

Jeff Brennan yes thats right☝🏼but as a normal hobby driver you dont need that racing fuel. In a normal 2 hour race i need 10 liter of fuel + - ... that’s about 30-40$ in Race fuel... no really efficient as a hobby driver

Ben Mahoney yeh i suppose if you are doing fast open riding but in the tight enduro terrain i found i was slipping the clutch to much with 14-50 in second. Like you say personal preference but the guy in the video complained about the gearing and changing to a 13 will cure the problem he mentions.

Kyle, talks gearing and how the stock is not sometimes to his liking. I’ve never seen him mention that he has went up a tooth or down to fix the problem. If you want up a tooth it probably would fix Sam’s grip between 2nd and 3rd....I wish Kyle you would make small tweaks like that, is doing reviews as close to stock as possible.

Run my 2014 300 with 13-50 and really like it. Stock gearing on the European bikes is really long; top speed is around 150km/h i think (>90MPH) which is way to much for my use. Prefer little shorter gearing in the heavy dutch sand. First gear is so short that i rarelly use it tho.

Does that bike require a fuel pump, a bunch of monitoring sensors; and a cpu? ...not worth it; I'll keep to the simplistic beauty of a carb for 2-strokes. But that's just me.
@Hammy56
@Hammy56 6 жыл бұрын
I get a laugh out of people saying these bikes are 'complicated'...adding a fuel pump, battery, and sensors to a 2T hardly makes it complicated. And I've heard a handful pf people comparing these to the carb'd 300, and saying it has less grunt...no kidding. (face palm).

Fuel injection adjusts for altitude and ambient temperature automatically better than any carb. Also about 30% better fuel economy. This means perhaps 18-20 more miles per tank. The added range is a big deal here out West.

Filth mouth Chris, just let me know how many miles you get out of it before rebuild, ok. Unless you just get a new bike and ride under warranty every year buy most customers can't live like that. I have dealt in the power sports industry for over 50 years now and I am somewhat concerned about expensive innovations = expensive computer module repairs to the customer out of warranty, especially during the current slump in motorcycle sales across the country. This is the case with injected snowmobiles, which is the reason so many sledders will only own a machine under warranty due to prohibitive repairs out of warranty, BUT a lot of customers can't afford go do this and will just leave the sport, which isn't good for any of us.
