I don't see anyone else trying these shots. Don't worry about the negative comments. You have your style and this is your videos...

This was extremely informative for me for the kind of hunting I do. It gave me confirmation of several ideas I had, and also gave me some new ideas. Thanks for doing this.

@MrSteve-O39 How can all the comments harping on his supposedly "put on" recoil reaction, be taken as educational? I honestly didn't even notice the recoil reaction. It looked like a natural follow through from a squatting position to me.

@MrSteve-O39 I'm good with constructive criticism which is what you seem to be giving, but most of those comments were hardly constructive.

Thank you for your videos using various equipment and positions for shooting. I plan on doing a western elk hunt this fall and these definitely give me things to think about. Keep the honest content coming.

If you are going to carry something heavy anyway, try an Armageddon Gear Game Changer sand bag. Get rid of the clamp and the rail. You can drape the Game Changer over the top of the tripod, over a rock, over a tree branch off a fence post, just about anything. I can hold the cross hairs at about MOA off of most rests. Next suggestion is to lower your tripod to lower your base. It's hard to get steady with you standing straight up. Don't bend at the knees, instead separate your feet to lower your upper body and bend ever so slightly at the hips so you are leaning just a tad on the tripod. If you put a piece of rail on the bottom of your rifle, you can lock it into the arca. Then there are tricks that involve wrapping your sling around a tripod leg. Keep doing what you are doing and find the things that work for you. I would say that since you are young and building precision rifles and long range shooting is your passion, take your son to a precision hunting school once. You'll learn more in 5 days than you would have learned in 5 years on your own. $ave up for it, it's expensive, but for you its a write off.

You are right though, a shooter would definitely need the rear support when shooting longer distances. Shooting any distances over 100 yds rear support is preferred. Really enjoying these videos and I hope a lot of others are getting the benefits of your work.

Instead of the v rest you could just use a rear bag on the two tripod. Give you a little ability to squeeze the bag to adjust elevation easier.

Also in the uk most people use quad sticks like viperflex which is light and good for 250yrds standing. Further than that it’s spartan like urs for me ! Keep at it mate your videos are great and you seem a decent chap

Most of us are here to learn about shooting. I wouldn’t worry so much about the expert’s negativity. Lol. I think I mentioned in another video about recoil changing accuracy clamped in the tripod vs your normal prone setup. Would be interesting to see you on the two tripods again, but without the clamp in the front. Use another one like on the rear or rig up sand bag type rest for front so the rifle can hopefully recoil the same and see does POI shift. I’m liking your videos, so keep it up.

Believe the target, the target doesn't lie. I also agree. Only what happens before the trigger break or at the trigger break affects the bullet. While others don't like how you handle recoil, it is not resulting in less accuracy, that I can see. I hunt with a tripod by myself on public land. I have used the Y rest on it but this time I am working with a clamp with one proviso. I use the clamp to hold the rifle at a ready position until I need to get on it. Then, I loosen the clamp and allow free recoil to my shoulder. If I don't I fear the rigidity of the tripod and clamp will affect recoil and could also affect barrel movement at trigger break.

I would say, leave it clamped into the tripod. Try a few groups clamped in tight and then loosening it up and see if it makes any difference.

I truly enjoy these series/comparison's. I have to say and guessing that others commented on the fact that when you shot the 30-06 it appears you over exaggerate the recoil but I 100% agree with you it didn't matter as bullet was long gone... My thought was damn that's going to leave a few marks on that beautiful stock because of the tree. I noticed in this video that because you shoot so relaxed it just appears you have a lot more movement now I have to go back and rewatch a few of the video's. If I had to make 1 small suggestion is scientist's will usually do a control group just because it helps understand. Most people that only shoot 2-300 yards or less don't realize how much long distance shots are affected by so many factors most are natural factors. Anyways my thought is ( A ) this is an awesome way to keep the trigger time up and unless a comment is helping you in some way WHO CARES about that comment. You shouldn't ( B ) maybe because you are putting this out there for the world consider a portable shooting bench just for the purpose of having a control group. ( And yes I realize there as still many different things that can affect accuracy other then humility, altitudes, temps ( in and out of sunlight ). Keep up the good work and a big THANK YOU for sharing.

I understand you’re relaxing and just letting the trigger surprise you but the video gives the impression you are getting punched in the face every time. Results speak for themselves but i have an irking feeling of “he isn’t following through” “follow your shot” “get back on target” Is what it is. Keep up the good videos!

I like your videos and your honesty. I shoot lighter calibre rifles so I can stay in the scope and see the deer reaction but I don’t really shoot beyond 500yrd. For the record I was told the rifle moves about 1/8 to 1/4” before the bullet leaves the barrel? I dunno but might be true
@biggs8729
@biggs8729 26 күн бұрын
Yes, you are correct, recoil management, or lack there of can slightly change POI. Not a problem at close range, but translates into noticeable POI shift at distance. That's why bag riders are a thing, gives the rear of the rifle a flat/level surface to slide on to minimize muzzle deflection during recoil. Shorter barrels, lighter bullets and heavier guns all go toward minimizing this effect. Muzzle brakes do nothing to mitigate recoil prior to the bullet leaving the gun, but rather help mitigate overall felt recoil to help the shooter stay in the scope and get back on target sooner.

Ya the recoil reaction was noticeable it looked a little odd to me… then I read the comments… jeepers… people need to get a life… vitriol over that?? Dumb people make conclusions based on assumptions and get bent over nothing… Whatever man… my advice… do it again and exaggerate it on purpose then give the camera the finger… haha… then maybe the bozos will leave. 😉 Your content is good man… keep being yourself.
