I have four EufyCam 3 cameras around my house, but I’ve been experiencing issues with motion detection. Sometimes it fails to detect motion altogether, and when it does, it often records too late, capturing only the end of the event. Do you think upgrading to the EufyCam S3 would solve this problem, or is there another system you'd recommend?
@ModernDayTechАй бұрын
There the pro's do have the Radar motion sensor now so maybe. As I mention in the video I never had issue with my orginal 3's motion sensor but now with the 3Pros, there are a lot more settings and customizations when it comes to motion settings, so it might be worth getting one add-on camera and giving it try.

Hey I noticed you used a WD RED SSD, does that perform better than the WD blue SSD 500 gb?
@ModernDayTech24 күн бұрын
I'm doubtful there's any day-to-day performance difference, but RED is marketed for a NAS, so I thought it would be better long-term. However, my gut says it's really just marketing.

Do you have an Apple Watch? Is it ok with when you are somewhere and want to see the livestream of the cam on the Apple Watch? Or is it only good on an iPhone iPad? I have a S330 and I hope they will bring an update for it to work with HomeKit

Thanks for sharing. I was curious what the color night vision actually looks like in suburban areas, since most people are showing the camera in cities. And with the footage reduced to 1080p, does the low-light quality improve at all when it's disconnected from Apple Home in 2K or 4K?
@ModernDayTechАй бұрын
You're welcome. I haven't watch others as I always do my own review first and haven't had a chance. Someone mentioned that it's better when the spot light is on, (I tested and agree) but as I mentioned in the video, a spot light that comes on, is not night vision! Thus its either low-light color night vision or b&W infared night vision and the B&w is a heck of lot better, unless live near street lights or other sources you don't control, like you said, in the city. As far as the low-light in 2K and 4K, I did test that before I bound the camera to Apple Home and the resolutation is better, but you still get a lot of ghosting and is not brighter. Just a little clearer, but still not worth getting over the normal B&W night vision. I hope that helps and if you have other questions, please let me know. I'll be glad to help.

Hey Eric, as always a great video. Just one question can you buy the solar panel separate if you need additional?
@ModernDayTechАй бұрын
No, I haven't seen the 3W solar panel available as a separate purchase yet. I'll let you know if I do. FYI: the add-on camera supposedly also comes with a second/backup solar panel. I don't know why they only include one in the 2-camera kit. I wonder how many come in the 3-4 camera kits.

Hi Eric! So you are saying on WiFi there’s no 24/7 function? Was planning to buy one …
@ModernDayTechАй бұрын
Hi, the HB3 has to be wired to your network (not WiFi) and the S3 Pro has to powered via constant USBC but also understand that 24/7 feature is not available currently for the S3 Pro so don’t buy on promise cause they may not deliver.
@carlosdanielsolisestrada1760Ай бұрын
Does that mean that Homebase 3 is already compatible with Homekit? or does it only work with the s3 pro? Or could I connect the 2c for example?
@ModernDayTechАй бұрын
As mention in the video, you have to update the app, the HB3 and then the S3 Pros are the only ones currently showing up in the list of cameras you can bring into Apple Home.

For the camera mounted on the tree how do you get a stable wifi signal to that one?
@ModernDayTechАй бұрын
I have a great 3-node mesh Wi-Fi system in ideal locations, mounted high and away from anything that might interfere. The distance between the HB3 and the camera is only about 20-30 feet, although it's through one interior and one exterior wall (point-to-point). However, I'm not quite sure if the HB3 extends your Wi-Fi or communicates on its own channel, as I've heard conflicting information. You can also plug the HB3 into one of the nodes to trick it into thinking it's wired for Apple Home integration. The tree is more of an issue for sunlight, but with the Eufy 3 camera, after a year or so, I've never had to take it down to recharge it despite the tree's shading. However, the S3 Pro is now pointed in a different direction, so I'll have to see how the camera performs or add the backup solar panel.

24/7 recording option This is what Eufy is putting out as of today. In addition I spoke with an Eufy supervisor as well and was told this isn't available yet. Other Eufy users are reporting that there is the app but it is not working yet or it simply won't power the cameras as intended. Were you actually able to get the camera to record 24/7 ? Eufy Response on 24/7 recording option Does the system support 5G Wi-Fi and 24/7 recording? The camera supports only 2.4G Wi-Fi and features 24/7 Snapshot to keep an eye on activities between motion-triggered events. The 24/7 recording or Wired Mode is currently in development and will be released soon, please stay tuned for update
@Anthony_The_Saint22 күн бұрын
I've been using ZOSI security system for several years. It records 24/7 and marks on the data line where there was motion detected. The cameras are a bit cheaper than Eufy. I've thought about going to a different brand due to ZOSI's NVR that the cameras are attached to (all my cameras are PoE, but they do offer wireless ones as well), tends to shut down then restart when I access the system while away from home sometimes. When it does that, I lose a couple of minutes of footage. It's annoying.

Camera's are amazing and better than the s330 in many ways but they do have some issues. First is the night time ghosting. It's horrible with moving objects. If you pause the video on a person, you can't make out who the person is. Looks terrible but live shots are good. Will probably get better with future updates...hopefully. The second issue is the zoom. They claim 8x zoom just like the S330 but Live zoom is only 2x. Yes only 2x. I don't know why but it's probably an update issue but right now with all my firmware up to date, that's what it is. Recorded videos do zoom better but hard to tell if it's 8x since it doesn't say, but it is close. My S330 are still 8x zoom. The third issue is rare but it has a white flashing when camera is triggered by a event. Screen flashes/washes out, 2-3 times and then returns to normal. Eufy's response to this was to turn off "Auto Night Vision". What does that even mean? They couldn't answer that either. Regardless, they are good at returns and trying to help resolve issues.
@omniiomegaАй бұрын
you didn't test the spotlight colour setting instead? that probably would've improved that area up a bit
@ModernDayTechАй бұрын
Of course I did. There was no need to show or talk about the spotlight mode. It does get better than the Daylight or Standard modes in low light situations, but it's about the same as the Eufycam 3 when the spotlight turns on. I still prefer the black and white mode and don't want the spotlight to turn on every time I check the live feed at night.

@ModernDayTechАй бұрын
You're very welcome. It has its place, but it's definitely not for everybody. You need some light for low-light conditions, so using it in the suburbs with very little light isn't going to work. However, it's still nice that Eufy is back with Apple Home, and the black-and-white night vision is great. Plus, it does have the spotlight option, but as I mentioned in the video, I don't consider that night vision.
