Overtraining is dangerous when you are 35+ My knee and shoulder acting up is the trigger for me to miss a day. I'm gonna be doing bjj for as long as I have a gym to train at. There is no end goal for me so there is no ego. it's just a thing that I enjoy doing. I don't mind if people who started after me get better than me. I'm confident I could kick the ass of the person I was a year ago.

I’m 35 also and completely agree. Listening to your body and just being consistent is really the key for us old rogues

I had to take a week off last week. I’ve been going to 3-4 classes a week since starting august 1st, as a 46 year old new white belt. In the time I’ve been rolling I’ve separated my shoulder, broken a toe, my thumb, sprained my knee and pulled my groin. I finally got to the point where I realized there’s no amount of mat time I can put in to make up for lost time, or desire to progress. It simply is what it is. I’m going to try and slow down as difficult as that is.

lol ... I'm 45 and just started last spring. Just got back in the gym after my 3rd broken rib. I'll probably cut back to twice a week.

Going too hard at the start doing 14 classes a week and thinking you’ll maintain it long term. 3-4 days a week is the sweet spot

As a recently 24yr old I power lift 5-6x a week and train BJJ 5-6x a week currently in my 11th week out of 12 I don’t know if I’m sore or if somethings a slight injury either way I’m working out but I do got sleep privileges and I take full advantage of that
@jareddias7932Күн бұрын
That is a ridiculous amount of training. Cut your lifting down to 2 to 3 times a week. No.way that's sustainable

@@jareddias7932 for me personally it’s been working out. My gym programs always have a deload week and during that week and my rest days are rest days as I do nothing to stress my mind or body. I also take my BJJ sessions easier and I always take 1-2 weeks of doing neither before running another program unless I’m going to compete then I change my whole thing.
