Lil Jon’s music literally changed the direction of hip hop. One could even argue that it birthed all the lit rappers we are into these days. College was super lit because of lil Jon and the turn up music he pioneered. It was fun to live through it.

The Chappelle skit's effect on Lil Jon cannot be overstated. I was a freshman in high school when that happened and Lil Jon went from a fairly niche artist in our mostly white suburban school to a known meme that everyone was quoting. This in turn led to a lot of kids who would have never learned about his music listening to his early stuff.

Man, this took me back to junior high and that not-too-awkward prom in a sea of usher inspired button ups and blazers with jeans and fitteds lol. I forgot how influential Lil Jon was and I can def see how it got annoying but I think he still enjoyed it. As limiting as it can be, it's kind of an artist's job to embody a simple feeling that the world can understand and collectively express for a moment. It's our job as performers to use music to unite listeners through a shared emotion that they may not be able to articulate. He did that.
