In the grand scheme of things growing through social media was going to be a thing with or without Soulja boy youtube was going to be the next big thing with or without Soulja boy. So artists were going to be on it with or without Soulja boy. And MySpace was originally supposed to be for musical artists and bands to post their music so obviously that would have been done with or without Soulja boy too. As someone who actually lived through it as a teenager and not a child I can tell you Soulja boy didn't have as big of an influence as everybody thinks. Yea crank that blew up for a summer and people made different versions but that's where his influence in music truly starts and ends and it was a horrible 1. All those songs were awful

He definitely should have went into marketing. He's a marketing genius. The promo line in the 00s?! Way too futuristic. To put the promo line in a song?! And we all still know the number 15 years later. Absolutely amazing. When you look at early Milo's, they look and kinda sound like modern-day Soulja Boys

personally i think soulja boy's biggest contribution to rap was the beat for crank that. he produced it himself with an early version of fl studio, and he really was the first person to use the program for hiphop/trap beats

Dude i agree w you 1000%!! I’ve always wanted to make a video like this before but didn’t know how. I remember telling everyone in my high school days Soulja boy was my favorite rapper and they laughed or looked at me like wtf but hardly no one knows all the mixtapes and songs he was releasing that go no attention yet with so much potential. I’ve been following Soulja’s music since he came out and glad to say I still am.

I've mentioned this before and I'll say it again, Soulja Boy is a marketing genius, it's not a debate. Additionally, he created the blueprint for every rapper who's established themselves through an online presence. He'll go down in history as one of the forefathers of the streaming era and an influence for nearly every new rapper that is out today. Not a lot of people can say that.
