if you don't have the money for the stake pocket D rings when you attach a chain drop on one side of the stake pocket and come up on the other side That way if your binder comes loose you won't lose your chain. Same way with strap. The reason you wrap the rub rail is if it comes loose you won't loose it. And straps and chains do come loose no matter how tight you think you can get them. That is why you load check 1st half hour and every time you stop. Just my 2 cents Thanks for the video. good ideas.

Dot requires that the check the load in the first 50 miles of the trip and every time you are away from the vehicle which is a called a "change of duty status". Also some states will bust you for unsecure load if you have a strap or chain on the outside of the rub rail.

Hi I have been using the EZ binder on my JD 1025R for a couple of years, I transport it quite a lot. I replaced the shortening hooks with open hooks and longer chain (the chain is grade 70) so I can hook one end straight into the D ring the other end to the tie down point on the tractor. It is very neet, very quick and very safe. Overkill I know. Regards John

Looks like those ratchet binders have a working load limit of 6,600lbs so that would count a 3,300lbs per binder per corner of 50% of working load limit. So you could carry a machine weighing 13,200 max if I'm correct on that according to federal law.

I agree with you but technology costs and the old stuff works, yes you can make it a little easier or a little faster but the old binders and straps and rings have been in production for decades and they’re cheap and established and standardized, if you come out with something new the cost is going to be ridiculously higher. There are always better way to do things but somethings are cost effective and your average trucker is not going to go spend $297 when you can get something else that will do pretty much the same thing for 60 bucks just because it does it a little faster. I agree, I spend more for this stuff but most people don’t and it’s simple marketing. In time they will become more common they’ll become produced by more companies and the prices will come down and they’ll become more standardized. But for now, people are cheap, those products are out there it’s not that they don’t exist it’s just that they’re more expensive and people don’t wanna pay for them. :/

Wish the EZBinders were rating for more weight. They cost 4 times as much as regular ratchet binders, but are rated for almost half the weight. Definitely not for heavy haul use. You should stop by your local cop that inspects 18 wheelers... DOT. There are specific reasons why you needed 8 straps for that skid steer. Each one is rated for X amount of weight. Add up the ratings of all the straps... For the same reason why you can't use 4 straps rated for 500lb each to secure a 10,000 piece of equipment. Same goes for chains... they have a specific weight rating.
