Bitwig and/or Studio One users probably don't need this. Bitwig - FX Layer/Multiband devices, Studio One Pro - Splitter device + your surely already existing extensive FX plugin collection offers much more sound design options. :)
@DashGlitch6 ай бұрын
Do you own any third party plugins? because if you have bitwig you don't technically need any, but the big thing is the workflow here. It's not as easy/intuitive to do these settings. Also Does bitwig or studio one have an actual dedicated granular effect? nope actually not.

Realistically, Bitwig users probably don't need anything. I'm not even in Bitwig and I understand how bonkers the Grid is. It all depends on how much effort you want to put into setting it up
@silspok6 ай бұрын
@@nitroanilinmusic Actually for something similar to Beam, you don't need to use FX Grid, because you have stock device FX Layer, which splits the signal to as many layers as you want. This is normal split. You can also use Multiband device(frequency split) in combination with FX Layer to go even further without touching FX Grid. I agree with Dash that it is not as straightforward as Beam, because it does not give you that "tree" overview, but you can do much much more than with Beam. In Studio One you have Splitter device, which you can use on insert or send and it actually gives you that tree FX chain overview, from which you can directly control gains of the individual branches, decide between normal, channel or frequency split and also expose many controls of plugins used in chain directly to the interface without the need to open the individual plugin gui. And of course you can use any plugin from your library.

@@DashGlitch Yes, I own third party plugins. You wrote that "with Bitwig you don't technically need any 3rd party plugins". Technically maybe, practically you need 3rd party plugins, because with stock plugins or whatever you try to do in the grid, you could not come close to the sound and nuances of some 3rd party plugins and I think that you know it. Bitwig nitehr Studio One studio have granular effects, but is Lunacy granular fx really so good in comparsion to Fragments, MGranularMB, Portal?

Yea that’s what I’m saying. But also grid or even bitwig native devices don’t have a granular engine like suggested in OP

it's remarkable how they managed to reduce the concept of granular synthesis to just those few well-designed macro controls. i'm personally more of a fan of those nerdier kinds of granular effects, but i gotta admit i can see how this plugin can be used now

Sure, if you already have some kind of granular and convolution third party effects you could totally set it up like this.

Sounds great. Can you draw feedback loops between effects in the diagram, or is it a straight left to right sound flow with feedback only possible inside the individual effects?

For now there's no feedback, but in my chats with the dev I do seem to remember him mentioning they're working on a feedback node, although I could have dreamt that so don't quote me :)
