At 50 years old Matt, I’ve learned it’s just all to much to keep up with to be perfect and been doing this on and off since the age of 9. I just tell everyone to have fun with it because honestly around a campfire you’re the star and no one knows the difference anyway! Lol

I've recently discovered your channel and have been singing your praises! I've always struggled with timing and getting lost in strumming patterns with all the up up down up down Down windmill up down up backflip nonsense, but your explanations have helped me to finally understand. Even just down strumming in time to the songs is a fantastic feeling! I picked up your stuck indoors offer and will be working through that in the coming days. This was so so helpful...I was a dancer (ballet, tap, etc) so a beat comes naturally...so I thought strumming would 🤦🏻‍♀️ Nope...but I had no idea you weren’t supposed to strum all the chords and it was so frustrating that my notes never sound clean. I can’t wait to start practicing with your channel and hopefully finally feeling like I am making some progress. And love that hat! I want one for when I ride!

Love trying your beginners stuff. I am trying to learn Gypsy woman by Don Williams. I've got the cords but stuck on strumming pattern. I've tried a pattern I made up, sounds OK until I play with the original. Please can you help. I'm 62yrs and just learning again from scratch. I sing on the circuit in Wales and England UK. I'm trying to learn some easy songs for the time we can get back on stage again. Please can you help.

Make youre own out of the isolation tape put two layers and cut into the pick shape. I did it and it sound quite nice:)

Thanks for the great advice as always and to be sure everyone else saw the Guitar might be a problem too I have to remind others to get to your guitar stores and just strum around on a guitar that costs more then the ones your playing because after I got to the store and gave it a go I realized that it wasnt my playing it was a cheap guitar and when I purchased my new one it was totally different like day and night.. thanks again Matt.. #CANCERSUCKS

Josh Hughes I agree 💯! I’ve been playing a D'Angelico Premier Series Gramercy Koa Grand Auditorium, in store, for the past few weeks. I finally pulled the trigger and bought it online. @@thwack35 Oh my goodness that is beautiful. More importantly does it feel good and easy to play ?? I recently picked up a new Breedlove Electric acoustic concertio series made of mahogany and pearl accent design I love how it plays and is so comfortable.. made me realize that the tool you use is very important to your outcome. The old saying of "you get what you pay for " is totally true.. thanks for the share on your purchase I'm sure I'll be getting another quality and comfortable toy here soon and this will help me with my purchase..

Josh Hughes it’s SO comfortable. It’s even easier to play barre chords! The neck is slim, and the action I very close without any fret buzz. I strummed it once and was like “OH! I get it now”. It’s a gorgeous piece of business.

....In basketball, we practiced the free- throws on a rim too small, so that at game time, it would look as big as a hula- hoop.....In other words practice in a way HARDER than the real deal....There ought to be a way to STRUM in a harder than necessary way so that when you play the songs LIVE it's far easier....

Strumming to many of the strings for the cords you are playing. You just slap
