Started back aggressive skating 3 weeks ago after 22 years out. Great videos!! Getting the body to do what the mind knows is the hardest part!

man thas creazy! I'm 39 and came back to skating last year after over 20 years of a break and under many of this kind of videos I see guys like me (an you) who are coming back to the old hobbys. That's also interesting from psychological point of view, can we call it middle life crisis or is it a way back to the younger days?
@causticvision Жыл бұрын
@@miszczmateusz maaaaannnnn!! Looks like it's blading revival for men in their 30's-40's. The only thing I'm worried about is my lower back. It's not skating season yet, so I'm getting prepared. Remembering my injuries from some 20 years ago, when I took 2m drops with bad posture, hence bad landing, makes my coccyx scream in a pitched voice. How about your back and knees?
@miszczmateusz Жыл бұрын
@@causticvision hehe that's my worries too! I'm also worried about my back and knees, I'm doing situps in order to prepare myself for the season. I've put 63mm wheels into my old MJ12 , the biggest wheels that fits and going more toward street skating than aggressive, on the beginning at least.
@causticvision Жыл бұрын
@@miszczmateusz Right, same with me, I'm planning to buy a pair of Aeon 80's and powerblade more through the city. There is a need to revive all the muscle memory and let the body adapt, and then maybe in couple of months it won't be stupid to take bigger rails etc. Freeskating on 50-something wheels is pain, especially in my city with coarse concrete, and that's the main reason my good ol' rollerblades were resting for years.

Buying FM4s on Friday. Last skates I bought were oxygen argons in the late 90s. I haven't strapped on a pair of skates in over ten years. Haven't attempted a grind in close to twenty. Daughters taking an interest to skating so looking forward to father daughter bonding time.

Was a big time skater 20 years ago, just now getting back into it. Even back then I never really grinded on anything. I always preferred to just skate ramps, drop in, do tricks in the air, but never grinding. Idk why, guess they kinda scare me to even try em 😂

Lol, the first piece of advice is gold. I always wondered why equally complex grinds like Soul Grind and Mizou are so different in difficulty for me. Mizou was just natural and Soul Grind was really difficult. And now I realized that my natural stance is with my right foot forward which is natural for Mizou and for Soul Grind I just need to switch. Simple, but would never guess that on my own.

Love the switch setup tip! This explains why my switch soul has always felt better than my regular soul...BTW any chance of dropping a vid on going fakie out of a quarter pipe/zero spin grinds on a quarter...had to learn to go fakie and stall on my own and it certainly was a challenge without any guidance.

These are amazing tips. I tried grinds on my Powerslide Next with Kizer Flux frames on 90mm wheels. It's true, you have to jump on top of a grind instead of chop at it from the side! Also, I noticed staggering the stance works well before I try and do a 360 spin.

Checking the arms helped me land my first royales. I noticed my shoulders were not "parallel" to the box that I was trying to grind. Because I was focused on looking at the end of the obstacle I was rotating my shoulders forward and away from the box unconsciously. I decided to look over my shoulder instead and point my elbow towards the end of the obstacle and it helped a lot!

Hey Josh! I truly want to say thanks for all your videos man. I got back into skating in March and came accross your channel at the time. Started watching some of your videos, then more and more every time as I started seeing how your tutorials accelerated the learning process. I have now watched all your videos and continue to rewatch them and take notes (like you mention) and it's incredible how much improvement I have gained just by picking up subtle details I missed the first time around on some of those videos. 2020 has definitely been a rough year for many, but keeping the blading alive has been one of the best things to come out it for the blading community. Happy Holidays to you and the family brother, and a big thank you from all your subscribers and viewers. Aloha🤙

I don't know how to feel about the whole arms thing, I grew up in park skiing culture, and at the time the trend was to pretty much keep your arms relaxed and your hands low throughout the whole grind. I've adapted that into my inline skating and even though I do use my hands to get upwards momentum when I jump, I keep em down during the actual grind. I'm not sure if I'm holding myself back or not.

Take some of that ski style and incorporate it into your skating and create your own distinct style!

@acostablades81383 жыл бұрын
Grinds can be performed in skate parks or on the streets(ledges, stair sets, hand rails, picnic tables, etc.) as well, There are even people who use them on trees and random boulders play grounds and empty swimming pools. Its all up to you and how you create with the skill set you have in the environment you skate in. Have fun and explore what is possible!
