So, in 1997 I was living my life in the UK. I had a little counsel flat (remember those). I had a sales job in shop. I was 29. I was doing "okay" Then I met an American girl. She was a single parent with 2 kids, living in Florida. Life suddenly had a fork in the road. I decided to risk it all. I move to the US and got married. Everyone though I was nuts, but I did it anyway. 27 years later we are still married, with a nice home and grand kids. I have to say, it was the best thing I ever did.

Great advice. I play life with a safety net, 42 never married, no kids, avoid relationships voiding the love emotion completely. For some strange reason I take comfort in missing out on life's paths, I have no clue why I think like this. As I get older the more I question myself.... The next time I'm faced with a situation taking me out of the comfort zone I might try something extraordinary! Thank you!

Do you avoid love becaise you've had bad experiences with it in the past?
@lesgradwell7262Күн бұрын
@danielr4774 Yes but no more than the average person yet the average can deal with that kind of emotional pain. (Most anyway). The fact that I'm happy and would rather avoid the experience closing many of life's doors makes me think deeply, especially now I'm older.

I'm in a relatable path and I take some similar comfort to yours, but somehow I'm also seeking something extraordinary. Not relationshipwise though... More of the self-development kind, to provide something meaningful to the world. All the best in your journey brother, but please prepare yourself if you're willing to take that leap. I've fallen badly and it literally left me with scars...

Weird to see this pop up.. on Monday I was offered a transfer to a different department at work. I’ve been coasting in the same position for the last 5 years or so, refused to try anything out of comfort and complacency. I can’t earn abut more doing what I’m doing, but moving to this other team there’s an immediate pay bump, very small buy something, with potential for more over the coming year or two. If I manage to do this well enough, I could put myself in a good position of value over the next few years. They said my old role wouldn’t be available if it didn’t work, because it’s a small company and they’d need to fill it soon. But they’d try to put me somewhere if it failed.. decided to go for it. I feel extremely worried about not being good enough to do the job, but ultimately thrown myself in. Just hope it pays off.

I've just come across your channel and subscribed - I love your simple, clear style, your practical common sense, and you've got such interesting life experience and wisdom to offer. It's like having a walk with a friend and listening to them relate something and all the while you're soaking up the philosophy behind the story they're telling. Thank you for your thoughts and advice 🙏.

I’m not happy with my CV, never have. It’s always other people. Not lazy, very talented but just no breaks. Always a case of my hobbies being more interesting and living for weekends.

Hey, Vlad. I watched a few of your videos, heard your life story. I'm chiming in on two points: first - you could visit my country, I have a few friends that left the uk, and some that are moving from there back here, You might find what you are looking for, and might have a a 10-15 years breather period until what's worrying you there applies here. Second - you entertain the idea of being a youtuber, I have some advice to give here, if it's ok with you, I've been doing this for well over a decade... sooo here it is - change the name of the channel. You can see how in today's context it might say something I do not think you want to say. My name is also associated with an absolute p.o.s. so I didn't use it here, but I do use it on my KZbin in English. Z is a symbol of war, and would be fine, if not after a clearly Russian name. There are a lot of reasons for people to bother you, trolls, and such, I wouldn't give them more to work with, or would't want even on a subconscious level want to make somebody not watch you, or subscribe.

You have hustle, which is quite rare. But you also have white male privilege, as well as growing up in the UK with an immigrant mentality. All of these things massively increase the chances of you going from tier 1 to tier 4. But you are right that technically anyone can do it. Just that, statistically, the factors above positively correlate with career success.

Да, жизнь - лучший драматург. Кто бы мог подумать, что русский чувак окажется большим патриотом Британии, чем многие из самих британцев. То, что сумел затащить жену из условного распаренного Шанхая на север Англии, - ну, значит действительно любит!)

I hope this message finds you well. As a KZbin thumbnail designer, I focus on creating visually appealing thumbnails that resonate with your brand. If you're interested, I can design a sample thumbnail for you to assess. Should it meet your standards, we can explore future work together. I’m excited to hear your thoughts!
