Just wanted to add an asterisk to the comments about needing a stamp and signature, this does not necessarily mean a *wet* signature. Most counties issue certified copies with a machine printed signature of the county recorder and not a wet signature, but some counties will include a wet signature of the deputy that filled the document request. It's an annoying inconsistency.

Great information, trying to get a hold of the consultant in Los Angeles is almost impossible it’s a several year wait if your lucky enough to get a person they will not make any appointments at this time, they only take calls for 1 hour a couple of days a week, very frustrating to say the least

@@anisasiddiqkara429 Yes I went on line booked a date an earlier date came up I went and was blown away at how nice they were from the front door, got my passport filled out missing paper work it took all about 30-45 minutes now I have all my documentation all I need is a driver license

@@Behemoth66 so since I posted I have gotten everything both by going to italy and the consulate I did my passport here in Ca went online made appointment got in fast couldn't believe it so it took about an hour in total left with my passport I am all set next is the driver licence hopefully next year

How am I supposed to get some recent signature when the guy died a hundred years ago? Like, what? All this time I have only ever heard that we needed original birth certificates for parents, grand and greats....we got those....and now you're saying I cannot use them????????????

No , your sister and brother have to apply separately and if they were born AFTER the Last Italian born ancestor naturalized then they are ineligible. Your daughter if a minor will get it but if she becomes an adult before you are recognized or she is already an adult she has to apply on her own. Each applications must have their own cerified copies .

Hello, my mother became a us citizen a year after I was born in the USA so I was told I qualify for dual citizenship from my mother and not my father because he was a well known criminal. I was able to get my father’s birth certificate in Sicily however, I cannot find my mother’s birth certificate. I am estranged from my mothers side due to my fathers criminal sins ( long story) and I know my uncles were born in Palermo. I contacted Palermo and they said no record of my mother’s birth etc. My question is, is my mothers birth certificate needed and if so, is there a service that can find my mothers birth certificate?? Seems as if that’s the only thing I’m missing. I’m 36 years of age and my mother and father are deceased. The embassy said my situation is simple due to my parents came from Italy so I just need their birth certificates and my mother’s naturalization certificate which I already have.
