Thanks for the great tips! Some of what I hear from other sensei aligns with this but it's good to hear similar things in new ways to help reframe and understand the techniques on a deeper level. Will definitely be checking out more of your videos. Dōmo arigatō.

Thank you for your feedback, one way I hope that we can all grow in kendo is by sharing, and that is the purpose of this channel, for me many times hearing the same advise from different people and in different ways has always be helpful and that's what I'm trying to do here.

Man, wow! I'm going to apply this even in karate. I haven't been through your entire library, so I don't know if you already have, but a video about using the bands for kendo would be awesome!

I'm gonna have to say - I used to watch your videos way back, some 1-2 years ago, and what I didn't like the most was the pacing. It felt as if certain chapters take too long, cuts are nonexistent or made at the wrong time, that sort of thing. I stopped watching since. Now you popped up on my feed again, and I am bewildered to see the progress - it is incredible. You've made a lot of what feels like subtle changes that ultimately amount to an outstanding experience - the information flows through such that I could even perform a low intensity activity on the sidelines and still grasp it very well. Congratulations and thank you for the lesson in production growth! As for the video itself, I think your emphasis on timing is outstanding; I came here mulling over some of my recent practice, not knowing exactly what I'm looking for. Hearing you talk about the various ways you can improve your timing (and weight distribution) made me realize this is exactly what I needed and was unknowingly searching for - once again, thank you!

Thank you it really means a lot!!! and if I can ever be of help please let me know. Regarding my older videos well I am still in the learning process. learning how to edit more efficiently has been a big challenge and understanding how to combine that with images and examples has been a big challenge, but upgrade in software and computer has also made it easier. Please don't hold back on criticism anything that can help get the message across easier is always welcomed! Thank you again.

Just remember slow is smooth,smooth is fast. Practice kirikaeshi to perfection as kakari and mototdachi. When you do that,your kendo will be strong. Remember kirikaeshi teaches distance,timing,strength and coordination in your tenouchi to have good sae in your hit.
@Kendotips
@Kendotips Жыл бұрын
Can I bring you with me to tell this to a few people?? Hahaha Why does everyone want to do kirikaeshi so fast to the point that they break their form?

I've definitely been guilty of sinking down a bit with the Seme Ashi. At a certain level you simply can't get away with it anymore. Your opponents will no longer be broken by it. It becomes an obvious sign of a trap and it gives them time to take the initiative back from you.

Hi thanks for the video. I have a question about the timing of fumikomi and the swing. Often I found that I either swing up too early before initiating the fumikomi or too late after initiating the fumikomi Do you have any tips on this problem? Thanks from a 5th kyu kendoka

Thank you for the support. Do you mean that you bring your shinai up before you send your right leg forward or at the moment that your right leg hits the ground? Sorry is a bit hard to visualize like this but if you join the discord server (the link is on the video description) or one of my live streams I'm sure we can talk more. My advice is always break the motion. Maybe these videos don't answer the question directly (I need more information to give you a btter answer) but may be able to help you: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y6HLfmOwl7iNkKc or maybe this short: kzbin.infodV7O9QN9qRc Please don't be afraid of asking more I want to make sure I don't give you a wrong answer

basic bio mechanic tips. when boxers throw their jab all of their strength doesnt come from their arms it comes from their legs. their leg tensed up causing the body to come foward and the hand moves much faster because your body weight is behind it. Kendo tips actually explains it quite well. Its about getting the wheels to spin
@Kendotips
@Kendotips Жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I think if we can understand biomechanics we can improve much faster and train better!

Funny, you say, "your sensei say's this probably should not be your goal right now", but my sensei literally just told me just that. "Time to move a bit faster...bit by bit"
@Kendotips
@Kendotips Жыл бұрын
Moving faster progressively at your own pace is the right way!!! Normally the problem is how people try to hit faster without any solid foundation and they end up just throwing the arms and get bad habits. I like your sensei's approach!!

I am Japanese and have represented my prefecture in a national kendo tournament. This video is very good. It explains everything that can be called basic, such as how to speed up the techniques. However, this is not enough. If you really want to be fast, you have to be aware of this in all of your daily practice. What I would further recommend is to aim from a distance when striking the enemy's mask in basic hitting practice. If you practice hitting from a distance, you will feel as if the enemy is close by in a match, and you will be much faster at catching the enemy's mask at normal distances! 🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉❤🎉

Thank you very much for watching my video it is exciting to know your opinion especially as a competitor. Thank you for sharing the focus of practice I will make a video talking about this. Normally I try not to make my videos too long but what you said it is very important. Please if you would like to talk more and discuss kendo together I would love to hear your point of view. Which area of Japan are you in I hope to visit Japan soon and maybe we could practice together! Again thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts.
