When I was homeless, I spent my first summer living in the Bob Marshall's, in the Rockies. Guarantee you there's people living in the mountains. They don't want to be bothered. A lot of them are veterans. Firest rangers are generally aware of them and don't bother them, because who wants to try to creep up on armed veterans living in the woods?

Born and raised in Idaho 52+ years. My Father and grandparents live/d outside of the area you were talking about in the first story and we had a farm up there in the rural area. A friend from high school in 1975 used to work nights at a mini market. He was usually a jovial guy, but I could tell from his disposition in class which times he had been held up while on the job. Don’t know why he kept working there; I guess he had to. He told me that having that barrel pointed towards him was beyond frightening. With a gun it’s a totally different kind of scary than with fists and knives.
@Kneon_Knight3 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, there are a lot of people who are less scared of a gun than a knife or fists. The reason for this is A) Hollywood tends to portray getting shot as if it's an inconvenience rather than a life threatening injury, especially if it's the main character getting shot, and B) almost everyone has been punched or cut, so they know what that feels like, but not many ordinary people have been shot so they have no frame of reference.

The Mogollon Rim is my favorite place on Earth, but there are forces there and in the areas surrounding it such as Tonto, the Verde Valley, Oak Creek Canyon…. that we don’t understand. It really is a wilderness punctuated by small settled areas, but it is vast, remote and when you’re up on the Rim at night, under dozens if not hundreds of miles of ponderosa pine in any direction, you really do feel small, and then you look up through a clearing in the trees at the innumerable stars that haven’t been washed out by light, but when you look back down across the small meadow you notice a darkness that is darker than the shadows around it, and it is moving.. if you do go up there, don’t venture off trail and absolutely do not camp outside of a marked camp ground.

The first story made me mad. Leave that man alone. As someone from western montana, please leave the forest cleaner than you found it, and if you run across a random cabin in the wilderness, leave them alone. I'm so tired of people thinking theyre entitled to scope out homes in the woods. A.) People deserve to be left alone if they want and B) SO MANY terrorists and serial killers have chosen to hide out in the wilderness! Youre only potentially putting yourself in danger!

I heard the same story a while back exactly word for word on another podcast except for the fact in that story when the family saw him at the edge of the woods they noticed he was barefoot. I remembered it because of how the man was acting so weird. I wondered then if he wasnt using meth?? In that story they said same thing he wasnt known for using drugs. However if for some reason he wanted more hours of staying awake maybe he did. Years ago some truck drivers used what they called "white crosses" or "speed" pills to stay alert which was amphetamines (meth). The behavior of a person who lacks sleep from the use of amphetamines sounded much like this truck driver who hadnt maybe ever used drugs before then?? Its just a thought. The trucker might have had some medical emergency instead of course. His outcome was sad for himself and family regardless. Thank u Joel for your hardwork just for us!!!!❤
