That's why it's called fight-or-flight/freeze. Most people don't know if they're a fight, flight, or freeze kind of person until they are actually in an extreme/dire situation and that instinct kicks in. Pretty much natural for some people to run away, just as it is natural for some people to fight.

Thankfully it worked out where the man didn’t have a knife or a gun. Most of the time if someone is breaking into a house they have some sort of weapon. A knife or a crowbar to get in the house and a lot of times a gun in case the homeowner notices them and tries to shoot them or call the police. It could have went very badly for him. If you have a gun, always fight. If you don’t, get somewhere safe and call the police

Some people cry as a response to stress and fear sometimes. Everyone responds to frightening things differently. Sometimes an individual will even respond differently at different times of their life. Heck! I start laughing when something frightening happens. I can relate to the second story. My mom and I were always inexplicably linked. We both used to say that it must be a “past life thing.” If my mom was home, or not, I’d hear her always call my name. I’d run into her office and ask “yeah?” She’d look at me quizzically. I told her I heard her calling my name. She said, “Maybe it’s because I was just thinking about you.” I took that as gospel. I heard that with my dad, too. Until the day he passed. I haven’t had a link like that with anyone else.

I remember one time when I was living with my mother in our apartment when, one night, while I was in bed, I heard her call me from the bathroom. I went in there, and found her passed out on the ground. She had briefly blacked out and fallen while trying to get something from on top of a counter. Fortunately, she was alright, but the weird thing is that she swears she never called me, and I don't know how she could have called me when she was passed out.

While it maybe true, there were so many real life crimes where the criminals or say the murderers would first eat at the victim's place. If they tied up the victim or stabbed them first, they would eat at their home too, like making it their home and helping themselves. I agree that he was just poor and needed food, if I was him and if someone found out, I would probably yell I am so sorry man I was hungry please don't hurt me etc but this guy decided to fight back and gouge his eyes out, which means he was trouble. There was a serial killer in India I believe, who picked random victims by waling around the area, and if he smelled some nice cooking smell, that he liked, he would wait outside, sneak up and look through the windows, and wait for the victim to finish cooking after she or he is done, he would break in and hit the head with a steel pipe, and stab them with a pocket knife, and while they are bleeding, he would bring the food the victim cooked, and eat it in front of the dying victim and watch their face and eat while they were dying. It was deemed that he was homeless and schizophrenic, but just making a point that just because someone was eating, doesnt mean they are only there cuz they were hungry and poor.

SAME! Invading someone's home is not okay for the person who lives in the home and will be scared almost to death, but it is okay if it's life or death, like it sounds like it was for this guy. Most of the so-called crimes people commit are just things desperately poor people need to do in order to survive. It made me so angry that the homeowner thought about suing him, and was mad that he didn't have enough money to his name for that to be lucrative. It sounds like that guy had no empathy. I can't imagine how scary it was, but the guy was not at fault. I'm much more concerned about the intruder than the guy whose house he broke into, because that guy seemed so cold and uncaring.
@malinia.20
@malinia.20 13 күн бұрын
@@pntbtr You're so out of touch. No, not everyone who's food insecure can get EBT cards. And for those who can, they don't even cover a fraction of the amount that groceries cost nowadays. And many things are excluded from being purchased with food stamps. And there actually IS an excuse, even if you don't think it's alright. And that excuse was that the guy was starving.
@malinia.20
@malinia.20 13 күн бұрын
@@Tdotttttt The story about the serial killer in India is obviously a one in a million example. The conditions that homeless people have to survive make mental illnesses much worse, and many homeless people also understandably use drugs to cope with their circumstances. If someone comes at you and attacks you when you're already doing something terrifying and scared of being caught, you sometimes just react and fight back automatically. Most killers, take the Golden State killer for example, would eat AFTER harming or killing the people, as a way to psychologically torture the people or disrespect their homes and possessions. This guy was homeless and was going straight for non-perishable foods. It's clear he was just hungry.

Kevin was such a good boy. A lot of people don't realize just how smart parrots truly are. They can easily sense when something isn't right. The parakeet I used to own(before she passed unexpectedly) would fly on my bed in the morning if I hadn't woken up by 9, and she would go up to my face and try to check if I was awake. Birds are honestly some of the coolest pets you can own(just please do your research, they are exotic pets and need a lot of specialized care).

Regarding the second story, was thinking it was gonna end with his dad pulling up in the car all alone and walking up to the son and telling him that his brother just tragically died---it sounded like one of those stories where a loved one who's just died (or is about to die) is trying to reach out to his or her loved ones (which is why he kept hearing his younger brother) at least one more time before they leave this earth. The second story, although seems like a quintessential horror story this channel uploaded before; legit scared the bejesus out of me! It was eerily unsettling when he was looking around all over the dark empty house hoping is brother is somewhere in there while it's most probably his brain that was passing wrong signal after working rigorously without any pause. Or it could be skinwalker! Either way its beyond creepy and one of the best from this channel. The ending was a little unfulfilling though.

I have a 36 year old umbrella cockatoo named Sydney and she actually woke me up once at 3:00 a.m. because someone was messing around my house. It ended up being some teenage kid trying to break in. Apparently he thought that I wasn't home because my car happened to be in the shop. He took off running as soon as I came out the backdoor. I didn't bother to chase him because I was 46 years old and have arthritis and there was no way I was going to catch him. I did file a police report. Hopefully he stopped being stupid and is doing something good with his life.

It ended with the kid figuring out he WAS hearing voices and being absolutely terrified out of his mind and probably also relieved that the voice wasn't some sort of premonition about his brother. His little brother was just fine, because he made it home from swim practice with the dad.

I adopted a cockatiel in 2019. He usually goes to sleep in his cage at 8 pm until the morning. During this 5 years, there was three occasions where he woke me up in the middle of the night with his frantic wings flapping: once when a cockaroach entered his cage, and twice, a few seconds before 2 of the worst eartquakes we have in the area where I live. Now, whenever I hear him flapping frantically, I don't think twice and prepare myself for the worst!

This is absolutely terrifying. Having a bird sounds so special, but now I think I would constantly live in fear of the wing flapping sound, and probably think I heard it when I didn't.
