Once again Peter you have outdone yourself with more fantastic stories. In Sydney your Saturday upload usually goes live around 11pm so I really enjoy listening to it before I go to bed. I myself am an Australian guy 45 years old and I've been happily married to a gorgeous Japanese girl for 19 years. Ive never been to thailand but would like to visit some day, not so much for the drinking or to meet women, more to explore the beaches & nature. Please keep your channel going because your content is great. BTW being that you are married to a Korean girl have you ever had the chance to visit Korea? if so did you enjoy it ? Wishing you all the best Peter, thanks again

Wow, that story with Nan really gave made me pause for reflection. Life is whimsical, you can never tell what circumstances lead you to meet the love of your life. It also demonstrates that life is also capricious, you can never tell what twist of fate will end it all. Cherish those special times every day, as this gentleman does. If you're lucky enough to have found such a wonderful woman, tell her how much you love her. I'm not ashamed to say that picture of Nan, in the end, choked me up. RIP and safe journey into the next life.

You are doing a great job by gathering and reading all those sometime heart breaking stories that can teach us a lesson of what could happen in Thailand and what we should be aware of. A big thumbs up for you Peter. 👍 My first time in Thailand was in 1980 and I experienced the best of Thailand at those times. Several long term stays followed and I feel so fortunate that I was able to experience those marvelous times. Now I am thinking of when, where and how I might want to retire in Thailand. Some things have never changed since the 80-ies but a lot is so very different right now. When I think of the changes since then I feel bad to see how much islands like Koh Samui have changed to the bad over time. Mass tourism has triggered a massive overbuilding and nowadays you have to go far to be able to see the pristine Koh Samui if some of it is left at all. There are changes for good and bad same as it is everywhere, I agree and the clock can't be turned back. As I am approaching 63 years of age retirement is in my thoughts and financial requirements for a retirement in Thailand is an aspect to consider. Those requirements have become higher and higher over the years and they have made it harder and harder to fulfil em. We don't know in which way the Thai authorities will want to increase their requirements furthermore but i heard there are plans to tighten the screw even more. Fortunately I will receive a comparatively good pension and I will be able to meet the current financial requirements for a retirement in Thailand. Nevertheless i wonder if Thailand should not rethink whether they will scare off more and more people with those increasingly strict conditions and whether that will be good for Thai people in general. I think that the answert to this question is clear. The Thai people will not benefit from it. As a foreigner wanting to bring quite a lot of money to Thailand I would like to feel MORE WELCOME by the authorities. Sometimes the impression arises that the Thai authorities want to make it as difficult as possible for future to be expats and we are not talking about cheap Charlie expats but middle class expats. If they think only monetarily hight class foreigners are welcome in Thailand they should understand that this is the wrong way to go.
@ThailandBound3 жыл бұрын
I totally agree with you Martin, Thailand has changed so much over the past 30 years. Like you quite rightly say it's almost like they don't want us there and they're putting up hurdles hoping we don't get over them. They are now targeting the Russian, Chinese and Indian markets as well as the higher spending foreigners. I think we seen Thailand at its best all them years ago it will never be the same again.
