Not only bar girls. I know some girls who have never left the village. They have to work the fields all day long for very little money while a significant other swings in a hammock all day spending that little money on beer. The guys who reached their peak the second their balls dropped and turn these girls into a replacement for the mother figure in their life where they have to cook, clean, work and do everything for them with nothing but abuse in return.

Nice stories Peter. The cheap guy reminded me of a former friend who came to visit from the US. He drives a Tesla and has money. I took him to Pattaya and when we got to the hotel he was shocked that I booked separate rooms and thought I was paying for him and the airfare too. Mind you he was working at the time, I am retired. On the way to Koh Larn the boat broke down for a few minutes and he wanted to know if he was going to get his money back (30 baht). The last straw was when we were walking about. It was hot, he said he needed water. I told him there was a 7-11 across the street and for 6 baht he could get some water. He said no, he had free water in his hotel and decided to walk 2km back to get it. Pro tip: Don't travel with cheap assholes.

Yes I also love the Ahm story. Good for her, keeping the great attitude and overcoming all. Very inspirational. Makes you wonder how many butt kickings she could have taken, somehow just chalking it up to the trials of life, and still come through. Now she has everything she ever wanted. Love it. If I talked to her in person, I'd just shake her hand and try to explain that she made the world a better place, something that few of us can say.
@JoseSanchez-mk1ed2 жыл бұрын
I really enjoyed that 1st story about Ahm. I don't judge these women for making hard life decisions. When you live life by the skin of your teeth, you have to do what is necessary to survive. Good on Liam for seeing her past within context. This story also shows that there are some real skumbags out there who are just as bad as any money-hungry bar girl. I once knew a girl from Southeast Asia who had a pretty traumatic story. Long story short, some old foreigner used her as a front for a normal relationship while he had wild orgies with ladyboys and other women. Great set of stories again, Peter!

Great stories as always. I really enjoyed the first story and I wish them all the best in life. Not all bar girls are just out to rip you off. Some of them are using the work as a stepping stone to a better life. I visit Isaan twice a year and I have seen the poverty there with my own eyes and add to that a lot of the young girls there end up becoming a replacement mother figure to overgrown teenagers who just sit around in their boxer shorts all day drinking beer. It's easy to see why they want to escape. The second story brought back some memories when you mentioned the girl was annoyed about her boyfriend but yet she was with other men. I've been on the side of that twice in Pattaya where the man would call her and I'd be told to stay quiet and I'd have to listen to her telling him how she has no money or as with this story she'd be bad mouthing him for not calling or not loving her etc. Keep in mind this would be laying on my hotel bed either before or after an aerobic session.
