Scotty, there's no CVT transmission in the Honda. It's the electric motor driving directly. At highway speeds the engine clutches into a single speed overdrive gear. With an electric motor, it doesn't need variable transmissions at all... It just needs a good overdrive ratio. The beauty of Honda's new tech.

@@ky314 Honda does not follow the same drive train design as Toyota. Toyota has the planetary gear which makes it a parallel hybrid. Honda has a series-parallel hybrid drive train, which is more akin to a series except when cruising at highway speeds. You can take apart one of the new Honda E:Hevs and you wouldn't find a CVT box at all. Of course that is unless Honda did something particularly different with this Accord. I highly doubt so.
@pigg200213 ай бұрын
@@ky314 It doesn't have planetary gears. The transmission is direct drive at the electric motor with a clutch in the middle connected to the gas motor. At highway speed around 67ish mph the clutch decouples the electrical motor and the gas engine takes over. The electric motor drives the wheels 90 percent of the time.

That Honda here in Canada will cost me $43,460 plus the tax, Monthly payments are $600 at 7,68%, for 5 years, I know a lady who bought a new car 3 years ago and she just put $3000 into it and that's not to fix any of the computer problems it has, She still have 2 years to pay on her car and she started walking to work because she is scared to drive the car, Some of the problems she told me about is the crash warning telles her there is a crash ahead or there is a car in her blind spot or the doors wont unlock or lock so the car sits unlocked all night, So while it looks good and id take one There is no way im paying that much for it, Id rather buy a car from the 70s where they were not full of computers, I know old Hondas don't have the power for speed like the new cars but they had the same mpg and in town you don't go 0 to 60 in 4 seconds ever so no reason for all the new tek in cars that are just going to work or the mall,

Scotty, I tried to looked that Accord up on Honda's German website and they don't offer it over here at all. One could be impressed by the technology but to my view this is all tech overkill. Riding conservative you get impressive milage / gallon, but if one would ride this thing in German traffic, I would expect that we are getting mileage around 35 / gallon and that just matches modern clean Diesel models in Germany - so nothing to get too exited about at the end of the day, plus that CVT transmission on top ? Honda knows why this car is not offered in Germany. Just looked up the tech specs of this 11th generation Accords offered worldwide. They expect to sell 50 % of this 2.0 L Hybrid model in the US, the other half for the US market is equipped with a 1,5 l turbo charged engine, so we're back into downsized engines. Car manufactures these days all seem to employ have weird engineers lead by Executives who have lost sight. One could buy this thing in the US for 35.000,- $ under contract conditions You explained, cause it is certainly of quality and value for money plus fun to ride - at a price tag Germans would never see cause your prices in the US are way below ours.....this said doesn't mean, that we are particular wealthy over here - we only get ripped off more brutal than you guys. 😉😅

Mazda 3 hatchback AWD or Subaru Crosstrek?
@mrgarrison35163 ай бұрын
Subaru AWD are 100% AWD all the time. Mazda AWD are front wheel drive until traction loss is detected, then AWD kicks in. (Driving in sand/snow has been known to confuse a part-time AWD vehicle)

I’ve heard nothing but bad things about the current gen WRX.. I think Scottie missed on that one.

I have a 2017 Accord Sport SE with a 2.4 Earth Dreams iVTEC naturally aspirated :) So no need to worry about turbos much less blowing head gaskets unlike the 1.5t. The only flaw on the 2.4 is if you don’t change the oil every 3-5k miles, then you’ll get oil dilution which is not great :/ But I haven’t had that problem bc I keep up to date on oil changes. I got it used with 53k miles on it so I’m guessing the previous owner changed it regularly so i got lucky there lol. Oil is cheap, engines and expensive

I got the same car with a six speed manual transmission. Bought it at 50,000 miles and changed all the fluids including the transmission oil. The car is the best car I have ever owned. I get 37 miles per gallon on road trips.

These types of hybrids catch on fire at the highest rate. More than gasoline only cars and way more than electric cars.

He got ripped off paying $2700 for that extended warranty! Several Honda Care dealers that will sell that exact same warranty for about half that. YIKES!

You'd think they would at least put a tire repair kit in the trunk for the Accord.

Those paddle shifters on accord are for regen braking not gear shifts
