I find eARC is really unnecessary and causes issues . Apps can easily be heard /viewed from a 4K Firestick plugged into the receiver. My major issue with eARC is that it works with HDMI control . I’ve found HDMI control turned on can actually make your receiver turn on in the middle of the night by itself ! Disabling HDMI control fixed the issue . I’m a bit old fashioned and prefer to turn on my devices individually by myself and just change the receiver input selection . Having the tv remote control every device is never as flexible or comprehensive as having the dedicated remote for each device with specific buttons tailored for the specific device

Right, so if you have an LG 2018 model, which has Dolby Atmos but Arc only, and want to get the true uncompressed Dolby Atmos via eArc through the use of apps such as Prime, Netflix, HBO and regular TV from your provider, it does not matter because they are streaming the compressed (DD+) version of Atmos any way? If that is correct then the only reason for wanting eArc would be for when you watch BluRays, right? Another thing, I use my apps via the LG TV directly, so it is not coming from the TV box from my internet+tv provider. Would this setup then become impossible because of the LG TV sending its own signal to the HDFury just to get it's own signal back again?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by noise? Anyhow, the 2.1 feature is not going to affect your setup, and that's even if you were to go with an ultra high-speed HDMI cable! (A high-speed HDMI cable Is All You Need) The fact your TV doesn't have Dolby Atmos pass through, but does have the e-arc input means the best audio you'd normally be able to receive would be Dolby digital Plus. However the fact you're Dolby Atmos pass through soundbar is limited to the Arc input means that the Dolby Digital plus will now be down converted to Dolby Digital. I know it can be a little confusing, but tbh there's not much of a difference between Dolby Digital and Dolby digital plus anyway. Hope that helps

If your TV has Dolby Atmos pass through and your sound bar has Dolby Atmos pass through, and of course, if you have the necessary high-speed HDMI cable, then yes, you will indeed experience Dolby Atmos. However, when streaming Dolby Atmos, even with the 2.1 e-arc feature, Dolby Atmos will only be a piggy bank version of Dolby digital Plus. It's what they call a lossy version. It's ok, but it's nowhere near as good Lossless Dolby Atmos like one would experience with a Blu-ray player, for example. In the near future, hopefully, we'll be able to stream Lossless Dolby Atmos thanks to the Future proof with the extra capability of the e,arc 2.1 feature. Hence, the only ones who are currently benefiting from the 2.1 feature are the gamers. Hope that helps

Great video mate! I've got a quick question...Let's say your TV is Dolby Atmos compatible, and you use the inbuilt apps to stream movies/TV. You then output sound to your Dolby Atmos soundbar via ARC/eARC. Given that all streamed content uses Dolby Digital Plus for Atmos (not Dolby TrueHD), is the added bandwidth of the eARC being utilised at all here? (as opposed to just ARC?) My understanding is that from a Dolby sound perspective, the additional bandwidth from the eARC is only needed for Dolby TrueHD. I.e. DD+ runs just fine (at it's full intended quality) using just ARC. Is that right?
@archwaytech2 жыл бұрын
Cheers Paul. That's a great question and I never thought of it that way. eARC for streaming doesn't give you anything extra than a TV with ARC that can play Atmos through DD+ so yeah, your analysis is spot on!! You've given me a great video idea, Thanks 😄

If you want full Atmos through Dolby True HD then you'll need to plug a blu ray player into the Samsung Q990B's HDMI input. In short- The Samsung Q990B would work great for you and give you Dolby Atmos. If you want more information about the Atmos formats then watch this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnLCgIV3bNV4o80

And im playing dolby atmos content through firestick connected to the tvs hdmi port. Im guessing if the tv supports dolby atmos but doesnt hv earc still passes through atmos connected to an earc soundbar. Try it out

For surround sound (Sonos Beam 2, Sub Gen 3 and soon Era 300's surrounds), is the any point integrating an extractor for Dolby Atmos when using an Apple TV (latest gen) for stream TV shows & movies? Would that content be delivered in Dolby Atmos?

My tv doesnt have atmos, so.. i have a tv without atmos, with hdmi arc and a soundbar with atmos. What should i do to get atmos?
@iam50852 жыл бұрын
I would try to attach 4k UHD BT player, Series X/S Xbox or Apple TV or Google Tv stick to the soundbar's HDMI inputs (not to the earc port). My Series S Xbox claims (see the sound test view which displays all the capabilities) now that i have Dolby Atmos, which wouldn't show up when Google Tv was attached to the TV.

Hi everyone. I have a problem figuring out if I can get Dolby atmos out of my tv with eArc. I have the Amazon Omni series, with each, if I get a soundbar with Dolby atmos and an HDMI eArc in port. will I get Dolby atmos?
@patricklindsay72 Жыл бұрын
But isn’t the Arcana not necessary if the soundbar has 4K passthrough? Can't you just connect your Blu-ray player directlybto the soundbar, then the soundbar to the TV?
@archwaytech Жыл бұрын
Correct. If your Soundbar has an HDMI INPUT as well as HDMI ARC then you don't need an Arcana. The Arcana is only for Soundbars that don't have 2 HDMI ports such as the Sonos ARC and Bose 900

Hey Josh, I just bought an Anker Nebula Cosmos Laser 4K, it only comes with HDMI 2.0, USB, and an AUX port. I have the Sony HT-A7000, I am looking but can't find a proper way to get Dolby Atmos (since I don't have eARC). Would be possible to get it with the HDFury?
@archwaytech2 жыл бұрын
Hey Julio. Getting the HDFury Arcana would give you Atmos with this setup. This is excatly how I get Atmos with my Sonos ARC and Projector setup. Connect them the same way I outlined in the video. Cheers

@@archwaytech so it sounds like this will be my fix as well? I bought a Sonos Beam and additional speakers only to find out I can’t contact the audio to my old Epson projector. I tried 6 different adapters to no avail. After getting frustrated, I went and purchased a newer Epson projector with HDMI 2.0 ports. No eARC or ARC. Still no luck getting the Sonos Beam to work with it. I’m hoping the HDFury Arcana will help with this? I’m only planning to attach a firestick to one of the HDMI ports on the back of the projector as of right now. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Is there a way to connect a Sonos soundbar to a PC running HDfury Arcana? My idea is to connect the soundbar to a monitor, not a TV. If I want to watch content from various streaming platforms I read that web browsers do not allow me to get dolby atmos. If I get a chromecast TV, for example, and connect it to HDMI in, and the monitor and sound bar to HDMI out, can I "transform" the monitor into a smart TV to see the content in optimal sound quality?
@cristianpantano26952 жыл бұрын
Or do you have any other suggestions you can give me?
@archwaytech2 жыл бұрын
Yes you can do exactly that. I have my Sonos ARC connected through the HD Fury Arcana... My Apple TV is in the HDMI IN of the Arcana and the HDMI Out goes to my projector. You can run any display through the HDMI Out... It doesn't have to be a TV. I've also had great success with running my PC through the Arcana and getting dolby Atmos games and movies to play well. Hope that helps
@cristianpantano26952 жыл бұрын
@@archwaytech Thanks for answer me. So when I want to use the PC, I connect it via HDMI cable to the graphic card. And when I want to watch the content from some streaming platform, I remove the HDMI cable and connect the Apple TV or other device. Also, when I do this, the monitor is going to be powered by another HDMI port or Display port to the PC. It is right?
@archwaytech2 жыл бұрын
@Cristian Pantano No worries. Yes... the first part is spot on. In regards to the display, that cable won't change as it'll be connected straight to the HDMI Out of the Arcana so if you need to change between the PC and Chromecast all you need to do it change the HDMI IN cable from the PC graphics card to the chromcast or any other device you want to plug in.

Yeah the arcana is perfect I wasn’t going to fork out more cash to get a TV with earc considering my TV still works perfectly fine, so the arcana was easily the best solution the only thing thoug you have to be aware that it requires firmware updates, I learned this when Sonos introduced DTS codec to its sound bar and my Xbox series x wasn’t recognising it.

Fully Agree. I haven't had to update mine and it works perfectly but I only run an Apple TV through it. I guess it's good to keep on top of the updates if it's giving you problems. Thanks for the input ROBOCOP 😁

No.. Your samsung arc tv has to support dolby digital plus to get compressed 5.1 atmos over arc.. Only with the arcana u can get 7.1 truehd.. BUT the input hdmi of the arcana must be connected to a media device, like bluray player, ps5, xbox, not a tv.. so one hdmi output goes to your sound bar, (a soundbar with e-arc will handle true hd atmos.. ) The second hdmi (audio extracted) goes to the tv... For netflix app u have to use nvidia shield for example..
