REAPERTHEBEAR “add more frames” is different from “learn how to space them with timing”. They could have had many frames, but maybe the rate per second was too low or they were too evenly spaced out.
@janzzi36735 жыл бұрын
add archs , even w/ you put more frames and de timing is perfect your animation is going to looks like a slide show because it doesn´t have archs. With it even animations with porly frames looks better

just like the bird flying in fast and stabilizing at the end of the motion, you would need to space out the distance the bird traveled further away between frames, on the paper, to create a fast motion, and then have the bird spaced less between frames to make it seem like its moving slower. Im afraid i dont understand when to use 1s, 2s, and 3s to make that happen. Not saying this would be a good idea for example, but couldn't you actually do the whole animation in 1s? You could the same with 2s, or 3s. I understand that 1s make the animation smooth each drawing is different for each frame, 3s are a bit choppy because the motion stays the same for 3 frames before the drawing changes. Is that where favoring and inbetweening come into play? I dont understand the application of mixing them, why you would mix them, and how it would effect your animation. Sorry, I typed alot, but i feel like I'm missing a piece of info somewhere in between my knowledge that isn't making it click. If any of you animation wizards could explain it to me, I will love you forever :D

My device lags... So instead of having the preview play on let's say 18 fps... It plays on 5 fps...
@HowardWimshurst6 жыл бұрын
that's really annoying! Will probably need to export it to see it in full frame rate. If you're using flash hit ctrl + Shift + Enter to test the scene (I think). I am having a similar problem in TVPaint, it skips a bunch of frames the first time I play the timeline
@cyantile54906 жыл бұрын
Howard Wimshurst it's a pain to wait for the thing to export... Especially if the animation is long. I don't even use flash or a pc to animate... So it probably makes it worse. Good thing I'm not alone lol.

hey everyone, I've been animating for a few months now and was hoping someone could offer tips as to speed? sometimes i draw for hours and barely finish more than 5 or 6 frames; i'm definitely aware that i'll have to practice, and i try to animate for a few hours every day to help get me there. but could anyone who struggled with something similar offer advice? i feel like my peers have such an easy time drawing as many frames as they need, and i'm not sure how to keep up. thanks so much, your video was great btw!!

Hello, Howard, I find it really useful for my other project but the problem is I find it is really hard to understand what you explain in this video. can you please provide the subtitles in the future to help me understand proper. overall you are high quality to explain and I already subscribed your channel!
@HowardWimshurst8 жыл бұрын
i would love to put subtitles on all of my videos so that they can help more people. however I have very limited time to make each episode. Most episodes these days are written, voiced, edited, exported and published all in the same day! it's because I only have one day free per week to work on them. So I could put that available time into making subtitles but I could not do it whilst sticking to my upload schedule of one per week. Currently anyone is able to subtitle this video, by going to this link kzbin.info_video?v=_IIszTuH5gc&ref=share and I will ensure that this community is able to subtitle any of my videos if they wish to
@FizzieBro8 жыл бұрын
thanks for your quick respond! I forgot to add other sense 1 day ago. "I am a profoundly deaf and I also am an animator to animation for my own project" I can not make my own subtitles from your videos. that's fine by me and at least I try to understand the video that you showed us for example but I totally understand of your on technical. can you please judge the videos of animation on my channel and leave the feedback which I will improvement them. I apologised about English that it is not my main language as I am a sign user!

Which software do you use? Because I use procreate and my animations aren’t smooth and flowing they’re more like a bus that’s about to breakdown. (Weird analogy I know)
@HowardWimshurst4 жыл бұрын
it's nothing to do with the software and everything to do with the experience of the artist using the software. I used Flash back then but nowadays I use TVPaint. Not that it matters. The best animators in history used pencil and paper on a lightbox

When he tells you that scrubbing is an important concept but doesn’t tell you what it means 😭
@jacegman5 жыл бұрын
Scrubbing is when you drag the timeline cursor back and forth between frames in order to see how they will look without actually playing back the entire animation
@pokaay31635 жыл бұрын
Jacegman I see! Thanks for clarifying for me. But then, why don’t they just play the animation? Wouldn’t that be better?
@jacegman5 жыл бұрын
@@pokaay3163 Alot of times you just want to see how the movement is from one frame to the next rather than the animation as a whole

In the off-chance anyone's looking, I hope nobody minds if I speak my mind, speaking of how to improve animation. I draw and animate with a skill that makes old Newgrounds animations look like Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn. I've been in a catch-22 whereby my art and animation's not good enough to impress anyone into providing tips for improvement. I want to improve myself, and I like thing I marginally am; however, in order to really get better, I need peer review. I realize this might seem petty, but: in the off-chance anyone sees this, if you'd be willing to review any of my little animations- even just one, and even if it's one of my older/est ones- you would have my immense gratitude. From one artist to another.
