Hi buddy very good video, I had some very serious chatter with mine I could only use it in ms, I noticed the cable was wound slightly tight so I completely removed cable from the control box and refitted works perfectly now, many thanks

Tony! Really like the idea of that Apex, I haven't had the chance to hunt with it yet, but I've seriously considered it as my backup detector to the equinox, possibly even for my kids. Hopefully I can get my hands on one to try eventually!

Thanks for the video Tony very helpful! I would also add if all the options you had didn’t work you could change the overall frequency for example if you were in MF you could switch to 10 kHz. Just a suggestion!

Hi Tony mate, I have the Apex here in the UK, and it never shuts up, even when motionless, not impressed at all, I have used the Nox which is multi-frequency and had no issues, I even went as low as 15 frequency and still had chatter, done all the other things you suggested with no change, personally I think the Apex has a problem that needs to be addressed.. I have an Apex and i use it in Spain's Mediterranean beaches, in Costa Brava, when we have some ones with a lot of ferrous mineralization. My Apex have chatter, sometimes too much chatter , except if I use it in 10 or 5 KHz. The best option for me is do the ground balance in 5 or 10 KHz mode (never in MF or MS), and then I put the MultiSalt mode and it goes well. If this problem appears again, I repeat the process every time I need it. Finally Apex should stabilize. (Sorry for my poor English)

I went out the other day on a different field, and the Apex was as quiet as a mouse.. but I agree with you, mineraliization is big problem with the Apex.. I tried reducing the sensitivity to its lowest point then done a ground balance, but I will definitely try your way and do it in 5-10 KHz and see if it improves on fields with high mineralization.. thank you for taking the time to comment.. Hey Clark! Thanks for watching and asking a question. This is a common question but slightly difficult to answer. First, I understand the frustration of digging foil. Its sounds SO good yet is t what we want to dig. Where things get complicated is that 54 that you dig up is foil, falls in the range of gold as well as extremely close to the numbers of a nickel (clad, war, buffalo or others). So in my opinion, you would not want to discriminate out that area because you would be missing more valuable targets. Make sense? Now, if you really want to disc out that range, I have a video that tells you exactly how to do it. Noooo not the unforgiving chatter of a detector..I hope the detector is worth the money ..I still can not be impressed with it..For some reason.. Will still watch videos on the Apex cause it is an interesting Detector and I love learning about detectors.. great video and these things you showed will work for all detectors ..on checking for unwanted chatter ..

Thanks, good vid. The one that I added to mine was making sure the coil cable was "snugly" wrapped around the shaft. That was suggested by a AT Pro user and it served to quite mine right down. I also make sure my iPhone does not get near the machine. It will drive it crazy on some days. I am getting what I consider exceptional depth (a penny at a foot with a piece of iron file a bit below it at 14 inches). Most would like that but it has me digging a lot of junk as I get used to what the iron masking is doing.

Either iron masking (vid coming up about that) or pure iron. Dig it and see. Learn what the machine is telling you.

Agree I use to like garret but after owning the at max from day one and then I bought the apex what a let down I Ben metal detecting for over 8 years so I decided to sell both of these metal detectors and I bought the minelab nox 800 and what a game changer !!!WAY!!! more stable at the beach and fields I went back to all the public parks that I hit hard with the Garrett and I found tons of silver coins in the same area that I went threw with the AT max and apex ..I thought Garrett was the king of metal detector’s I was completely wrong maybe 20 years ago but 2022 the deus 2 and the Makro legend and the minelab equinox 800 are the kings in metal detectors on the market as of now and if you have a small budget then buy the Makro simplex it’s cheaper and has nicer features ..I still own 2 other Garrett machines but I’ll be selling them I took a big hit buying the at max and selling it after the dam machine wouldn’t shut the freak up and yes I have the Garrett at pro so I have hundreds of hours on these machines and yes I did found good finds with these machines but in 2022 multi frequencies are the game changer and the apex is way way behind and if am full of crap watch a few videos on iffy’s channel on how the apex couldn’t detect a gold ring near a nail but the minelab sees the ring .. I won’t be buying any Garrett metal detectors for a very long time .. but one good thing for right now is Garrett pin pointers I love the garret at pin-pointer it’s very very good I’ll give them credit for that but come on Garrett you guys need to use the minelab nox 800 and the deus 2 and the Makro legend .. 2022 WAKE UP GARRET ..even the simplex is completely water proof and it’s way cheaper in price .. and for Garrett lovers am only speaking the truth trust me I was a Garrett fan myself.. I don’t have money to piss on metal detectors that are outdated in 2022 .. I hope that one day garret proves me wrong I don’t care who’s better as long as am enjoying my day metal detecting not getting mad at the dam machine…TOM YOU ARE RIGHT-ON POINT --JUNK!!!

I would never buy an Apex, I hate the tones of the machine, dosent have the Adjustability that it needs. If it's supposed to be a good beginner machine, I suggest they should drop the price. Because advanced detectorist will not use a crap machine like that!
