Brilliant! I needed this, your so organised to of had the time to learn these skills, create videos and teach! I admire your dedication and knowledge and you choosing to share all this at such a surreal time, is GREATLY appreciated by us teachers who have been left to figure out how to online teach! Your students are very lucky to have a teacher like yourself. You make me want to do a UK version of what you do! Keep it up, love from a fellow teacher of 16-65 year old learners of English and math in England.

Hi there. I love your videos. they made my life as a teacher so much easier. I just discovered you can scan documents from your google drive on your smartphone. You go to goodle drive app and then press + in the bottom right corner and select scan option. Then, you can crop etc and save directly on your drive.

For the non-fiction comprehension skill questions, you could also make a Google Form for the students, where you put the image at the top and then create the multiple choice questions for the students to answer. And the software will automatically generate the data for you as to which students got which questions right. Takes a bit more time to set up but would save you lots of time later, too!

I really love the self-checking! I teach high school so maybe to make sure they are accountable, the last slide would be a word they have to email me to make sure they actually did the work. It was a challenge to make sure students were doing practices that were not graded when they are working through distance learning. I have been using Nearpod which tells me how actively a student participated.

I love this! I also suggest putting in audio with the directions and/or questions and/or answer choices for students to click and have everything read for them if they need that support. That's more tedious but maybe higher-reading students could submit that as a homework assignment first to help out and differentiate with less effort. They could just enter Vocaroo links or record and upload audio with their computers.

I’m only a high school senior, but it’s so interesting to me how different school districts are handling this. My district is exploring an A-Day B-Day model where half the kids would go Monday and Wednesday, the other half would go Tuesday and Thursday, and each group would go every other Friday, respectively. If we’re “green” (from our governor and we are right now) the plan is to all go back full time. I’ve also heard rumors of half days where half the kids would go in the morning, the other half in the afternoon, and everyone would be home for lunch, but that’s all hearsay right now. As for online learning, we’ve had 1:1 iPads in 3-12 for a long time, but we’re getting them for K-2 this year. They’re going to try to make sure every kid has internet access. We've used Schoology in 5-12 for five years now and I love it, and this year apparently the district is implementing SeeSaw(?) for K-4. For reference, this is in Pennsylvania, and I don’t want to give away our county, but it’s not in a city.

As a parent of an incoming high school junior here in Wisconsin, we'll have a general idea next week on how the incoming school year might look (there was a Board of Ed meeting last night (Monday). In an e-mail I received last week from the school administrator (superintendent) to touch base with the parents and staff members on school start date, options for the school year, and 4K-8 summer school (doesn't apply to mine). Although the school district did apply for and receive a waiver from the state to start the school year earlier, they decided to keep the original September 1 start date. Options being discussed for the upcoming 2020-21 school year are having students return to school or have full time distance learning. With regards to them coming back to school, ideas that have been swirling about the last month or so from previous e-mails would be limiting classes to 10 kids per class and have one class come on Monday and Thursday, and another coming on Tuesday and Friday, with Wednesday being distance learning. With regards to the option of full time distance learning, it was stated in a previous e-mail that it would be far more rigorous than how it was being implemented in the final quarter of the school year that just ended (where they were pretty much flying by the seat of their pants). Mine wants to do the distance learning. But with 3 AP classes this coming school year (AP Calculus AB, AP English Language and Composition, and AP European History), any inclination he might have that he's going to spend a lot of time playing frisbee golf or regular golf (while the course is still open, probably early-mid October) with his friends, or a lot of time at the bowling alley (once they revert to their non-summer hours) practicing his game (he's on a Jr/Sr League), he's in for a very rude awakening from Dad, because I will be constantly monitoring Skyward (I'm also trying to arrange my work schedule where I can be home more in the middle of the week, but it would also involve having to work every weekend (which I pretty much do anyways). I also (tried) to stress to him this is the year colleges look at when he starts applying next year.

I just added a large text box over the rest of the slide and even outside the margins quite a bit and linked it to itself (the same slide) and when I copied and pasted it to all the other slides...it automatically changed the link to that particular slide number. Awesome! Now if they click on the slide, nothing happens. They have to click on an answer for it to take them to the "correct" or "incorrect" slide and then they have to click on the button to move forward or go back to try again. Yay!!
@kimberlylawhon82024 жыл бұрын
I didn't want them to just click somewhere in PRESENT mode and have it progress to the next slide and mess the purpose up! Also, it you copy the link to your slideshow and remove everything back to the forward slash and type in instead /preview?rm=minimal ....it will show the the PRESENT mode but all the links still work. It is just larger and without all the extraneous master slides and rift raft to distract.

Thank you for this info. You can also try Kahoot, Quizizz, and Quizlet. They are free, and you can restrict them to a certain time students can complete them by as well. Also, these all have different ways of tracking student progress. They have stacks to choose from, or you can do your own questions. But this can come in handy with short group work assignments and even homework activities.

I have watched the videos you have already created, and they have helped me a lot. I will re-watch this video over-and-over so I can see where you are clicking. I know you have a lot of information to cover, but if you can go a little slower when you are changing the settings, adding text boxes, boarders, how to copy and past or re-sizing it would really help the non-tech people, like me, learn how to work these programs. Maybe you can make short 3 minute video on how to do a skill. You are a blessing to many teachers who have to learn how to work these programs. Thank you for all your hard work.
