Hint: When we were there the locals told us to go to a gas station and purchase a sticker which was simply a capital letter "L" on a white background about 6" x 8" which you could put in you car to signify you were a learner at driving. (I forget where it needed to be placed, but ask, they will tell you.) Other drivers will go out of their way to be courteous and extra patient with you, especially when you are learning to navigate roundabouts the first few times. Think this is one of the best ideas ever that should be adopted universally!
@davemainzan20884 жыл бұрын
I don't think it's illegal but it means you dont have a license and people get pissed off with learner drivers. They might be courteous on the outside but inwardly they are seething at how wank you are at driving. Better to pretend to be amazing and slip under the radar.
@davemainzan20884 жыл бұрын
Ps the red L means you dont have a license the green L means you cant drive (although legal)

We do have stickers/ custom like that in Japan, too ! Lol.I live in U.S.,been living here for 36 years ,but I'm sure they still do that over there in Japan.So ,we 'll know we have to drive carefully around 'em ( w the stickers on their vehicles ).! Lol 👍💜🥁🐉🎤🎶💞

Thank you for this! Was thinking about going to Ireland however I think I will pass for now. My children are still younger (6,11) and I honestly don't want to drive on the left with them. I'm not that great of a driver as it is. We went to Italy and was able to get around fantastic with just public transportation and was hoping to add Ireland in. I will wait until they are older and not fighting as much and distracting me. You sound very professional and I enjoyed watching.

Is it possible to cut other costs out of your life while you save? some examples: makes meals at home rather than eat out, cut cable and use the only the internet, don't buy daily coffee, plan your meals in advance to cut down and store trips and food waste cut down on alcohol, cigarettes or other unnecessary expenses. my friends And I do not exchange presents for birthdays and Christmas, we give each other treats like a homemade card and cakes (I really don't need anything, I'd rather save my money for travel), these are just some ideas, depends on your situation.

I wish I would have seen this a year ago. We did round trip on the QM2. Stayed 2 nights in Windsor then flew to Ireland for 7 days. Flew back to London for one more night and then back to Southampton to catch the ship back to NYC. We stayed for 3 days before flying back to STL. Between the multiple flights, TA crossings, hotels etc., we spent over $40k. It will be a while before we get another vacation.

I have planned 5 trips to the UK over the past 15 years, and agree with everything you said here. IF your budget is a little bigger, then B&B’s are a lovely option since they often come with a massive hot breakfast that can set you up for a full day of touring and help save money on food. The Irish people are amazing and you are sure to have a great time there! I can’t wait to return when travel restrictions under COVID are lifted and it feels safe to me. The spreadsheet for planning, eating from grocery stores, buying tickets online - these are all great ways to save money. We always went for at least 18 days and our last trip was 6 weeks, which was too long - I recommend 2-3 weeks to make it worth the cost of airfare. Have fun!

My husband and I are planning on going to Ireland in a few months and are struggling on whether or not to rent a car. That's what our initial plans were but we got concerned about the insurance. What did you do to avoid the car rental place ripping you off.
@gustavthemagician6 жыл бұрын
You won't be ripped off, we have strict laws for that, but without a car you are very limited. Public transport in Ireland is not very effective and you will have to depend on taxis. Just rent a car and if you can't afford that, look into organized bus tours. You will be driven around the country and visit the usual tourist traps but it might be a bit cheaper.
