I typically swing my 3 wood at about 103-106 mph. I have transitioned to using a 4 wood, followed by a 7 wood, and then to my 23-degree 4 iron. This setup gives me pretty good gapping.

Yup…that’s what I found too! 7 wood in…3 wood out…driving iron hovering on the periphery! Great vid - thanks!

That's it Dave, gotta get that gapping sorted 🙌🙌 no worries at all glad you enjoyed it 👌

have the stealth 5 wood and 7 wood in the bag. I'm missing out on about 10-15 yards if i were to bag the 3W, but my strikes off the fairway are so much more pure and consistent with the 5 wood. Play what helps your game!
@epgolfstudios2 жыл бұрын
Exactly that David 🙌 if you are far more consistent with the 5w then long term benefits of gaming that will more than outweigh the additional yardage from the 3 wood 👌👌

That is why you need to have adjustable fairway woods. Mine are set at 3-13.5* stealth plus (3) 5-18.5* speedzone (5) 7-22.5* speedzone (7) 9-27* lady head speedzone (9) And they are all a good distance gap.

Great video! I'm also in the same boat. I don't see much difference in 3 wood (15 deg) and 5 wood (18 deg. 3 wood on average is 262 carry for me and 5 wood is 254 carry. Very similar ball speed. Is 4 wood the solution to replace both? Sounds like I need to do some testing...advice?

Since at LEAST 1982 "standard" fairway wood lofts were: 3 wd 15*, 4 wd 18*, 5 wd 21*. So the "5 wd" you tested is actually a rebadged 4 wd and the "7 wd" has Traditional 5 wd loft. That explains the close results on the first 2 clubs. You were astute in surmising that the "7 wd" behaves like it has been altered internally to create a higher launch, so, although having a "5 wd" loft, it behaves more like a 6 or 7 wd should.

Would be interesting to see a comparison between TM stealth 7w and the TM stealth plus turned up to 21 deg.
@epgolfstudios2 жыл бұрын
Sure I can do that at some point 👍
@erickbauer8888Күн бұрын
You need to have someone with 90 mph swing speed do that test. That would make it much more relevant to the viewers.

Just purchased a stealth, really enjoy it. I like the deep face and 190cc clubhead. I do think there's a market though for a 210-220 cc 3 wood, especially if they have the V Steel sole. And i guess your review is a great advert for a 16.5 degree 4 wood!
@bustersgotavmax2 жыл бұрын
It just gets confusing trying to put the top end of my bag together with what options are available now. Would want a gapping session to know where I'm going.
@epgolfstudios2 жыл бұрын
100% right Glenn, there's literally hundreds of options 😂 not easy at all for most amateurs to get it right just from guessing.
@richardbrelsford57382 жыл бұрын
Great example of how a 4 wood could be a great fit for most average speed players. Enables you to get an extra wedge in the bag 👍
@epgolfstudios2 жыл бұрын
Yeah 4 wood can be a great option mate for sure. With the lofts these days you do end up with about 9 wedges sometimes 🤣🤣

I am using 16 degree off the tee for narrow tree lined fairways. The 5 and 7 wood were too close , so I have sold the 5 wood
@chucksmerdon62562 жыл бұрын
I've got the Rocket 13 degree plus 3 wood and the 19 degree plus 5 wood. 3 wood is a 275 club, 5 wood is a 250 club. Both have the LA Golf AXS 70X shaft. For me these were perfect. I'm surprised to see your numbers so close.
@chucksmerdon62562 жыл бұрын
There was a 3 degree difference between your 3 and 5 woods. There is a 6 degree difference between my 3 and 5 wood. That's the difference. Definitely agree with you that it's best to get fitted and gap tested.
@epgolfstudios2 жыл бұрын
Exactly Chuck, your 6 degree gap works out well which is great 👌 I do think 3 degrees is a little bit on the close side! Good numbers with your 3 and 5 wood though 💪

Hi guys, please forgive the beginners question. Do you play this club with the ball positioned inside the heal of your lead foot. I can't quite work it out from the camera angle.
@epgolfstudios9 ай бұрын
Everyone will be different, and where you should play it will differ from person to person depending on your path, angle of attack, and miss. But yes I play then just inside left heel personally

i have the 3HL wood and was thinking of a 5 wood but after seeing this i may just go to the stealth 2 in the 7 wood ....your thoughts ? cheers from Canada
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
Yes if you already had the 3HL definitely don't go 5w. 7w would certainly provide better gapping
@timmyjumbo4262 Жыл бұрын
So the same distance pretty mutch but it's more forgiving and more loft when you go down
@epgolfstudios Жыл бұрын
Hey Timmy, I assume you mean between the 3 wood and 5 wood? Yeah there's just never enough difference between the 2 to actually warrant them both having a spot in the bag. For some it may work ok, depending on your swing speed and how you deliver the club, but for most I don't think a 3 wood and a 5 wood is beneficial. And by more forgiving I'm assuming you mean the 5 wood because of more loft? If so then no, no really. You may get slightly less curve on the bad shots because you will have more backspin to stabilise the ball flight but on the whole not really any more forgiving.

is this common for most 3 5 and 7 woods of the same brand ??? and simialr lofts im considering getting some sim 2 max woods but they ony have 3 and 5
@epgolfstudios2 ай бұрын
Yes similar for all brands, I think for a lot of amateurs having a 3 wood and 5 wood in the bag is just too close. It will work for some but for most it will be too close

I find this vid interesting as I went and used track man and my numbers between 5 wood and 7 wood are so close, and my 7 wood is more accurate makes the 5 wood obsolete. I feel a 3 wood better for my game

are the Stealth 2 better than the old Stealth in fairway woods , hybrids ? trying to pick some up not sure which are best..can't got hit any so i need to order online unfortunetly due to where I live....cheers from Canada
@epgolfstudios2 жыл бұрын
I haven't had time to do any testing with them yet mate unfortunately but I can pretty much almost guarantee they won't be that much different. If you are ok having the old model and save yourself a bit of money then just do that, if you want then newest and got the Dosh to spend then go for the new one 👍 both will be great but between them I'm sure there won't be much
@tomashmore4128 Жыл бұрын
very interesting, ive always played my 5 wood with a 7 wood length shaft seems to work well finding that nice gap

I find these club reviews in front of that large curtain quite odd. You only see the ball fly simulated by a computer. Maybe such a comparison out on the driving range would give a much better impression. 😊
