I would’ve never imagined myself being so happy and energetic. If you think being drunk is a good feeling, try not being drunk, it's a way better feeling.
Today I am celebrating three years sober. It's been a long, hard journey. For years I knew I needed to change my lifestyle, and three years ago I finally made the decision to give up alcohol. It wasn’t easy and it isn't easy but I can confidently say that I will never go back to drinking.
Thank You for Reading. I want to pass on some inspiration and encouragement to those in need of a similar change.

My story: I was a binge drinker for 50 years. How did I stop drinking so easily? I skipped the counseling and anonymous platitudes. I went to my doctor. He gave me a choice of two remedies. The monthly injection of Vivitrol or the daily 50mg tablet of naltrexone. I took the tablets for 30 days to detox and almost immediately lost the cravings for alcohol. Losing the cravings was as easy as taking Motrin for muscle aches. Mark me safe from alcohol.

Man, getting through a weekend without giving into the darn urges feels impossible at times. It's amazing how much they can ramp up and take control of your mind. 🤦‍♂️ Congrats on your sobriety! 😊

For me it was a daily decision and some good support from my family. Having a strong reason to quit was key for me. Believe me it’s not easy, but the reward is better than anything a bottle can provide. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for sharing. I want to live a sober life because I’ve learned that drinking makes me feel emotionally and physically worse than if I were not to drink. Keep up the good work!

I feel that it was a form of burying my problems under the foundation on which I stand. Do you have a plan to quit, or are you already in the journey?

Congratz! Alcohol is addictive because it helps you not care about your problems. It is easier to numb sometimes than deal with the issues that are actually what are causing you to feel like drinking

I just am past a year sober and a lot of what you said rings so true to me, especially about losing friends since you're no longer their drinking buddy. I'm glad I did it, wish I did it sooner, but wouldn't go back to the daily drinking for anything.

@@ogdencontractingltd My anxiety and depression for sure. I still have some of it, but there are times at work where I have to talk in front of people and I'm consciously aware it wouldn't have been possible if I was still drinking. Also, and I know it's been said a lot, but waking up with no hangover and ALWAYS being okay to drive no matter the time of day!

I think I'm happier, more content, more intentional with my time. I've replaced the drinking time & picked up my guitar again for the first time in years. Everything just seems clearer. I don't think you understand how good it is until you commit to sobriety but it is a day to day decision of saying no to something that Is so available and easy.
