Ok, first let me apologize for not getting to this sooner, lots of life changes have been going on.... (good ones). BUT! No excuses!
Here's a revisit of our trusty 2005 Land Rover LR3, 3 years later (roughly)
and what all has been going on with it. Currently has around 150k miles and is used as daily work truck for myself and weekend traveler when we feel adventurous.
I always love sharing info and stories so please feel free to comment below!

Great review mate. I liked the caution about using cheap replacement parts. Often people do this then blame the car. It’s good to remember the saying: ‘The poor person, pays twice.’

Air compressors get a split on the air dryer cover extremely common - 2 mins and some soapy water you can find if that's the cause. You can get another aluminium one for $70 on ebay super easy to replace. If anybody bought a new German $2000 air compressor... i feel for you. I fixed mine for $70 and 20 mins of my time 3 years ago and its still fine.

Friend of mine got the lr3 back in April 2020. Only two issues. One is air suspension, but she uses her lr3 to do a lot of offloading. And not softer stuff, she's followed me in my FJ thru the hardest trails and parks up here in Oklahoma. The 2nd went out at the same time, and that was the front passenger hub fell apart.

Well known issue for sunroof leaks is the rubber drain tube END that goes bad. There are many vids on how to repair and what to look for in the wiring. The wiring runs along both sides of the car on the inside. Simple repair that anyone can do.

I have a 2006 lr3 hse with 200,000 miles. its on 2.5 inch Johnson rods with 33x12.50 inch mud grappler tires and spacers. I also have a gap tool so I can lift the truck a little more. I sprayed bed liner on all of the plastic trim, and upgraded to the lr4 tail lights. I removed the mufflers and resonators and it is a great sounding exhaust note out of the 4.4 v8. I recently put on a voyager roof rack and ladder. I have a upgraded steering wheel, the interior is completely customized with two 15 inch kicker comp r subs and kicker tweeters all around. I also have a 2011 supercharged l322 on 2.5 inch Johnson rods and gap tool with 33x12.50 ridge grapplers and spacers. it has a voyager roof rack and ladder as well. ive taken out the resonator and I'm considering taking the mufflers out as well. this vehicle also has a upgraded carbon fibre steering wheel and shift knob. if you want to find upgradable parts for your rovers I've used @t for 5 years they have pretty high quality items. I highly recommend purchasing a landrover. i have three more rangerovers and all of them have been nothing but reliable

Yeeeeap I have the same, bought it year ago still love it. It can do long trip highway, it can do offroad with ease. Universal and comfy. The only issue is this diesel 2.7 engine - that's nono, find old good V8 or rare V6 petrol engine.

Hey Brandon, good choice on the LR3 and good for you on just going ahead and getting it and not letting the negative info floating around out there on how miserable LR3's are stop you. I have had my 2007 (Gov'na) for 7 years now and I have been very happy, other than maintenance I haven't been disappointed. One other item I will point out for you if you haven't already done so is to replace the coolant bleed off valve that sits on top of the throttle body, it's a plastic piece with a brass?, blow off valve, the plastic will break at any time and it could leave you stranded on the road with a over heated engine and no coolant, I know from experience, I just replaced mine with a steel sleeve insert, I don't see any need for a blow off.

Never had an issue with it. Does need new upper and lower A-ARMS now. About time. Minor transmission leak starting to happen now.

Ive always like'd Land Rover discovery's design, but always kept away becuase of reliability issues, after some research ive started to been really drawn towards an LR3, i like to camp, travel and go to remote beach spots with my wife and friends, would it be wise to buy an LR3?, i would not use it as a daily driver, only for weekend/roadrtip use, i wouldnt put the stress of daily use on it.

Hi, I've a LR3 '05 HSE, living in Ireland with 420,000km up and have owned it for 11 years now. Daily driver and would have no hesitation in taking her to Italy and around Europe etc. Regular maintenance and odd part replacement (understandable given age etc). Great machine.

Karim Alameddine Hey! I am a fan of the LR4, however personally I think the LR3 is the last of LRs true rugged designed Discoveries, before Disco turned into a variation of Range Rover. Concerning the Lift, depending on how high your looking to go, 1.5-3 inch just go with the level sensor extension rods! Super easy and cheap! Planning on doing this soon. But any higher and you’ll have to go with suspension upgrades. Which I feel is unnecessary. The stock setup is INCREDIBLE.

@@brandonpetrykowski The extension kit is just so that if the air fails like it did on me and I'm on a trail in not super stuck and I don't cause damage because when it drives it's very bouncy and very low and the bottom is touching and scraping...
