One of the things you always here from folks..."lever guns just arent accurate enough for me". I always loved this comment because lets be realistic, 99% of us use our weapons for hunting (and for that matter we arent taking 400+ yd shots, or shouldnt be if youre talking ethics) and thats as serious as it gets. Not many of us are shooting in competitions or making our living from our weapons. Very rarely, if ever, will any of us need our weapons during a home invasion. That being said, i would love to see yall put some proof to that and create a video on how precise a lever gun can be at say 100-150 yards. Beautiful rifle! Thank yall for putting lever guns back in the spotlight!

My Marlin shooting LeveRevolution is extremely accurate at 100/150 yards. I haven’t tried any other ammo because of the accuracy. I don’t shoot any deer father than that and the Hornady ammo has proved it will do the job as long as the shooter does.

Super cool gun!!! I’ve always said to my dad wouldn’t it be cool to make a hybrid “tactical” or “high performance” brush gun. So now that I see how to go about it I think I’m going to go ahead with it. The only thing stopping me before was putting the money into buying the base gun to start with. I have a model94 but it’s a family gun that was my great grandfathers and it was the only new rifle he bought for himself in 1955. All his other guns were milsurps, or second or maybe even third or fourth owner guns. He wasn’t a very wealthy man as far as money goes so he always put the family first before ever buying himself a “grown ups toy”. He was a self employed farmer so he grew a lot of the family’s food because it was an orchard and produce farm and as far as meat it was either hunted, caught, or raised and slaughter by him. So yeah I know that’s all a side note but I just wanted to share it because nowadays people dont appreciate Old time stories like that. Bottom line being it was a very special tool to him that he passed down to me when I was old enough to start hunting and shooting. He had a lot of Sons grandsons and nephews he could have gave it to, but he chose me. The gun was 100% original. No different than the day he walked out of the store with it. It has harvested about 53 deer on his farm and still looks almost new accept that marks his huge hands left on the wood from how he held it. So I could go on seemingly forever with these little anecdotes but yes needless to say it’s An extremely special rifle to me and I wasn’t about to experiment with it so I’m now going to pull the preverbial trigger and buy a new one to start building now that I’ve seen another one and know it can be done nicely with out rigging it up because I can purchase very nice production parts for it. So thank you so so much @Wolf’sPrairieOutdoors for making this video. Now I can start my own, a little more modern family gun to one day pass down. Thanks to this video it will be something very special to have in the family along with stories like mine but for a new generation(s) to come!!!! In conclusion my great grandfather said it’s great to have a tradition to carry on but it’s just as important to work hard and make your own legacy to leave as well.

Excellent build, i am using allot of their parts as well. Gotta say, they seem to offer a superior product. I've looked at multiple brands when choosing parts, i did decide to go with the bigger loop lever from marlin, i like the extra room. I'm a body builder and got beefy hands. Last hunting season i had the orignal u shaped lever and had to sit in the cold with my glove off, so i could fit my hand in. Never again.

Love this build series. You talked about the safety delete and marking the action smooth by polishing it but it was not shown. I’m looking at doing a similar build I’m just not a fan of the tactical fore end but it does make your gun look really cool especially for a home defense gun. Overall I really enjoy your channel and I appreciate you taking the time to make these videos. I’m still in the process of hunting down a 30-30 since they are hard to find right now. Once I get my build done I will send you some photos Brian.

I agree about the metal hand guard. However, RPP now makes a “cartridge quiver” you can attach to it. Also, I prefer a QD cup for sling attachment on the side of the forend instead of the bottom. I hadn’t thought of a bipod until I saw the thumbnail for this video - probably not something I’d ever need but it is an option. Finally, this guy did a better job of selling the feel in your hand than RPP does.

A great set up in that you have a quick detach optic with irons ready to go. Only way to fly. Also the 30-30 in the eastern US is about perfection and far better matched to the game than your 45-70. It doesnt get any better and is 200yd perfection. I would suggest lookjng at Logcabinlooms channel and hes got a video called Sermon On Pinetar. You can treat that wood stock with pinetar/mineral spirits to darken it and make it impervious to weathering. I think youd really appreciate the pinetar treatment. Im not into every alteration on this rifle but overall i think its at least well thought out and mostly practical. It really is a great univeral setup

@@davidtadlock2238 I use a Marlin 1894S 44mag with a scope for low light, and I have an iron sighted CVA Hunter in 45-70 for walking around in the woods. Like the way the rifle turned out, it looks awesome! I'd like to do a build like that soon. I have a question on that scope, if I recall you had it mounted a little forward on your 1895, will the eye relief allow it to be used sort of like a scout scope? I looking for a scope to use on my Marlin 1894 csbl that I can mount a little forward of the peep sight without having to take it off.

Thanks so much! It's actually a regular scope, but it worked for me because I generally stayed on the lower powers. If you need the higher powers, you may want to go with a scout scope. I have a Vortex Crossfire scout scope and it works really well!

I never noticed my trigger flopping before wonder if it's because it was made decades ago. It's the best $80 I ever spent at a pawnshop.

Do you find leaving rounds in the cartridge cuff long term ok or does it cause the loops to loose tension on the round

I used to have a leather cuff with 6 rounds. I can say that after 30 years, the brass turns green and the leather loops definitely loosen up.

i learned how to hunt with a winchester 1894 30-30 i hear people say they are this or that, or aren't this or that..... its a 1979 NRA model and its never failed, original parts no fail to feed or fire ever. I'm gonna get a marlin and build it similar to this soon as i want to retire my papaws old gun and keep it clean

*I have successfully used the 'anemic' Remington 30-30 150 CoreLokt factory loads at 324 yards. Yes, 2250 actual fps from an actual 20" Mircrogroove Marlin barrel seems anemic. Box shows a speed of 2350 'or faster'. Two deer in one shot at 324 yards is adequate performance...even if the bullet seems anemic. I wonder if your all copper bullets are actually better....or, simply more rules compliant ...in UN-LEADED states or areas.*

I've greatly enjoyed this series. Thank you for the time and effort you've put into it. Why did you switch from the RPP quiver to the Hoptic? Just curious, I've no experience with either one. That pepper laminate buttstock is SWEET! RPP just shipped my handguard, which is going on a 336SS (stainless steel) with walnut stock. Nothing, not even the black stock, beats the look of your laminated stock with the RPP handguard. If I like the handguard as well as I think I will, I'll order another one for my 1894 .357 Magnum. I've resisted (so far) the quick-takedown screw. My Marlins have regular slotted screws. I have a set of gunsmith's screwdrivers at home, I keep the proper screwdriver (separate from the bench set) for the Marlins in my field cleaning kit and my Bundeswehr-issue folding knife's screwdriver will suffice in any unlikely pinch. Still... I'm looking forward to the lightweight magazine tube and the medium-loop lever when they're back in stock. I'm holding off on the Mason butt cuff until I'm sure I don't need a cheek riser for my optic. My eyes never were great and I'm now at the age where my ability to resolve the multiple front sight posts into one is a sometimes thing. I'll probably go with a forward-mounted scout scope on the 336 and a red dot on the 1894 (with a red dot on QD mount for backup or low light for the 336). I'm told red dots and astigmatism don't always mix but these things can be highly individual--the rangefinder patch on my Leica M10 camera works great for me and I prefer it to autofocus--so I'll need to check it myself.

Thank so much, I'm glad you've enjoyed the project! I switched because I'll be hard on this gun, in thick woods, and the RPP quiver could get grabbed and yanked backwards because it has the single mounting hole, whereas the Hoptic is rock solid. You'll love the handguard!! Lol yeah the quick take-down screw isn't a must, but it's just that something extra that catches peoples' eye a the range. Sounds like some good setups you've got going there! You're going to enjoy the process and they shooting them for sure! I have a Vortex Crossfire scout scope and it works great. Thanks so much for following a long!
