@@rastanot Thanks! Mine are pretty basic. I've got one really big one for film scoring that has essentially an entire orchestral all mapped out, but for pop production, I usually start with just a handful of MIDI tracks with Kontakt and several audio tracks with a preset vocal chain I use for tracking scratch vocals. I love making templates, but at the same time, I often DO like starting from scratch if I'm not super pressed for time - cause then I can feel more free to try new things out.

@@NathanJamesLarsen Word. I am trying to remotely flesh out some Pop-Punk/Ska-Reggae songs with my buddies, I thought the process would be faster, we'll find a groove soon as we learn the Postal Service way of songwriting and recording🇲🇱 Do you have any suggestions for file sharing Logic Stems? Not enough space on Google drive, Dropbox is annoying, Mega makes you do achievements every month to keep your account running. I'm thinking a NAS that's preconfigured for "cloud-like" file sharing should work, as long as I have the internet bandwidth. Have you used anything you would recommend?? It's frustrating though cause I can't find a lot of Logic videos that follow this type of music. More than anything I just need the inspiration. I've been recording in the box since 2002, and you can guess I bet; I've ran so many different DAWs through their paces. Logic Pro and I fit together like puzzle pieces. My templates have Rasta colored instrument stacks and some very fitting icons to match. 🌿🌿 I totally agree about starting from scratch, if you know the daw it doesn't take much extra time to organize as you work. Sometimes I wonder if I spend more time adapting a template for a song that doesn't really fit the structure. Thanks for letting me talk your ear off: You totally made my day after I watched this video, then you did it again with a warm reply. Thanks dudder 🤘🇲🇱

@@NathanJamesLarsen Indeed. There is another thing that happens in Logic Pro that maybe you know something about. When I'm working in a midi region in the piano roll view and copy/paste notes in there, the midi clip region extends to whatever the original recording length was. So if I have trimmed and edited that region previously and subsequently copy/paste any notes in the region, I have to re-edit the end of the midi region. Drives me crazy!

Not sure if anyone mentioned it, but on Tip #11 for track stacks, you have the option of adding a 'Summing Stack' vs folder so you can actually turn it into an Aux, add effects, etc. Except it still functions like a stack and you can max/min all the takes. I usually use it to make 'mini-busses' for organization and some processing - and then route all of my production into my 4-6 main bus channels > then mix bus > master bus > final output. Great video! Lots of stuff in here I never knew how to do!

Chill out bro haha - WRONG !! 😆😆
@drvoodoo30734 жыл бұрын
Reinold Guzman He’s still wrong though. WRONG. Nathan Larsen Music even admitted that I was right. It’s important to point out things that are incorrect in tutorial videos because lots of beginners will watch this video and take what he says as gospel, and not only will they do things the wrong way, they’ll repeat what he said to other people and next thing you know, a whole bunch of misinformation will have been spread.
@NathanJamesLarsen4 жыл бұрын
I don't think the fade tool thing is "the wrong way" -- I mean, yeah, you're right - I misspoke but if people are using the fade tool to change the shape vs what you're saying - it doesn't matter. There are usually multiple ways to do everything in most DAWs. Again - I have no problem being corrected but the fade thing is really not a big deal. I didn't know half these tips for YEARS and was still making good music.
@drvoodoo30734 жыл бұрын
Nathan Larsen Music Nope, I corrected you because you stated in the video that you “cannot change the slope of the fade with the Marquee Fade Tool” which is just flat out wrong and misinformation. I wasn’t talking about the many different ways you can achieve manipulating fades but talking specifically about the Marquee Fade Tool’s functionality.

Great tips. One note. In Tip 11: STACKS, you say you can’t put effects on a stack. But that’s only if you do it as a “folder”. If you choose the “summing” option instead then you get inserts & can add any plugins you want. FYI.

@@NathanJamesLarsen All good. Thanks for the reply. The only reason I know that is because I JUST did it today. Ha! What's interesting about stacks is that it's more intuitive than buses, sends and aux. (That's because I'm a video editor and Premiere & Avid have "collapse" features that are similar to stacks. Plus I just upgraded from Garageband, so anything that makes it easier it a plus.) Question though. Other than being able to put effects on it, are there any other differences in Stacks between "folder" and "summing"? And if not why wouldn't you always use "summing"? Thanks in advance. Great video!
