Welcome to another episode in my cancelled games series! This is one that I've been looking forward to doing for some time - the original PlayStation.
There are so many unreleased games for this console, but I've selected thirty that I think are particularly interesting.

I could've sworn it was something from Emmanuelle, or maybe a Tera Patrick film. 😂😂😋 Logged countless hours on Driver 1 & 2, GTA was fun and all, but crashing cars and running from po' po' was more exhilarating. Even our parents used to watch in awe, our daring escapes. Funnily enough, a more "innocent" time then. 😂 Hilary & Co. Would make one think these games are for derelicts only, or teaching kids how to be terrible people... Instead, an entire political party has done that in their stead.

Great video as always mate. That Test Drive Cycles game looks incredible! I had no idea that there was going to be a Titan AE game. Of course the film was a Don Bluth one, and I talked with him about it a lot when I was studying with him. I think its pretty under-rated tbh.

More on Rollcage: Team 17 were aiming for 70 fps on a pentium PC. Players would be offered choice of 10 cars, each handling differently, 20 different racetracks, including deserts, stunt tracks and multi-storey carparks. Opponent A. I was to be vicious, they’d happily shunt you into a tree or off the track. Cars would suffer damage, which would effect the handling and the speed.

Starcon looks absolutely fantastic. This is EXACTLY the kind of game I think of when I think PS1. G-Police, Colony Wars, even Descent was brilliant. Love the list Pete.

Thrill Kill, Bounty Arms, and Dead Unity are ones I'd definitely have been interested in if they were released. Great vid! There's one game in particular I wonder if it'll make part two. We shall see!

I had ThrillKill back in the day. Probably shouldn't have been playing it aged 11 lol. The engine was later used in the Wu Tang fighting game I believe.

Thought it was worth mentioning that the engine for Thrill Kill was used to create Wu-Tang: Taste The Pain/Shaolin Style so it wasn't a total waste! A lot of the move sets have similarities between the two games.

Titan AE really fascinates me, I used the ppf patch and play the Bin file of it on my jailbroken PS3. Idk how to finish level 2 😂 but I also use ePSXe on my PC and a GameShark code to look at more content. Also I love the use of Die Hard Trilogy music that's one of my favorites on the PlayStation.

For instance that Sony-developed "Yoyo" thingie. But... on the other hand, there probably isn't a big demand for something like that. It would have to be an already established IP with a big following, I believe. Like an unreleased Crash/Croc/Spyro and the likes...

I've never came up across with a game called Yo-yo, I definitely remember some of these games got cancelled which is a shame really, I definitely remember Alladin on the Snes, back in the days and I've still got the cartridge now. I can't wait for you to do a cancelled Wii game episode, when you ready mate, your definitely progressing well with this. 🙂

Aladdin is great on the SNES, but I do prefer the Mega Drive version. They're quite different. I have the cart too! I'll definitely look at doing a Wii episode. I imagine there are gonna be loooooads of cancelled Wii games! Thanks mate.

My cousin somehow had Thrill Kill on a cdr, so i assumed the game was actually released for years until KZbin was a thing and I found out. I used to even look for it on ebay haha.

Aha, PS1, 'right in my wheel house' as they say! I could see the console having a lot of cancelled titles because of the amount of experimentation that was going on in the early days, it's inevitable some of it would fall by the wayside. A lot of these I'd prefer to see over some of the junk that did see a release, although I suppose a lot of those were produced as budget titles to begin with, and not fully formed standard release games with developments and budgets to match. I had a feeling you'd mention Thrill Kill, it's about the only cancelled title I was aware of. I know it had connections with Wu-Tang: Taste The Pain, a game I've got a soft spot for even if it is, objectively, a bit of a stinker. I think you're right about Bounty Arms, it's exactly the sort of title that would've sold in small numbers and then become collectable later on. In that way it's understandable that it was cancelled, still a shame though.

Yeah, I found so many cancelled PlayStation games when researching this! As you say, understandable. Thrill Kill's engine was used for the Wu-Tang game and a few others, so not a total loss I guess. Bounty Arms could've been an interesting little game; a shame indeed. Thanks, Owen!

Some interesting games. YoYo looks the most fun yet I think it would have had trouble standing out next to other 3D platformers of the time. There were tons of similar ones on PS1.

I was expecting to see 989's _Diabolical Adventures of Yobu,_ but now that I'm thinking of it, I'm not sure any trailer or video footage ever got released for it :( All of these are great though: stuff like 'Big Guns' , 'YoYo', 'Maniac Moons' and 'Bounty Arms' look terrific! You're right about 'Bounty Arms' - I'm a huge fan of stuff like SNK's 'Shock Troopers' and 'Top Hunter,' and Japanese 2D Playstation games like 'Panzer Bandit' and 'Rapid Reload' - if that got finished and came out, I'd be hunting down a copy on eBay or Lukiegames or something today (^-^) I feel like stuff like 'Yoyo' might have been cancelled simply because they were going to release too late in the PS1's lifecycle? It looks pretty dang advanced, so I'm assuming it was from around '98 to 2000, which puts it in prime position to get killed for that reason, unfortunately. I remember Sony briefly was putting out some stuff on the PS1 during and after the PS2 launch - stuff like Aladdin 2: Nasira's Revenge, Speed Punks, and Twisted Metal Small Brawl for some examples - but I think none of them did well commercially and none of them got marketed very well. So, with the PS2 adoption rate moving so quickly, Sony probably were like, "We don't gotta do this anymore - let's just focus on the next gen." It's a total shame though; that one just looked really impressive. Never heard of it before in my life and now I'm bummed out it got cancelled :P Anyway, definitely looking forward to Part 2. You always find awesome, obscure games - and nice quality media of them - to show off in these vids!

Junior producer Nicolas Meylaendeer might be best source to ask what happened to PS1 version as he’d apparently gone on record to say the hardest part of coding the game was getting accustomed to working with Playstation code and the team had been working very hard at creating a visually brilliant game, with zoom fights on the PS1…. Virtual Studio had originally planned for your character, Jack’s mutation to take the form of you becoming increasingly immovable as the effects of the Parasite took hold on your body…Sony pointed out however that this would have a knock-on effect on the game, rendering it extremly boring and pretty pointless!. Virtual Studio were originally Loriciel, familar to ST/Amiga owners i’m sure… They were said to be extremly pround of Parasite and believed it’d stand head and shoulders above similar titles in the UK (Flashback and Rayman) when it hit retail… Influences on the plot came from:Alien, The Hidden, The Thing, Lethal Weapon (film wise) and The Hulk, comics wise.

Interesting, Werewolf The Apocalypse was finally released as a game over 2 decades later called Werewolf The Apocalypse Earthblood... i finished it and this footage isn't that far from the gameplay (of course biggest difference is that it's 3D game, not isometric 2D) but yeah, never knew there was Werewolf The Apocalypse game in development for PS1 🤔😮

Before it turned to Novel Series Project “Exodus: Big Guns Novel Series” I was getting very difficult to my grammatically from lack of the words spelling can’t to do any typing. Got to say of all these cancelled games videos the ones on Playstation seem some of the worse and I'm kinda glad they didn't get a release lol. I expected Thrill Kill to be on the list as how could it not be? I'll always remember a dude from my school banging on about how he had it and we didn't believe him, only to realise a couple years later that you could actually get it on burnt disc due to it being completed. I guess we owe the lad an apology but I guess he can fuck off too hahaha. Great stuff Pete, look forward to part 2.

it may shock you to know i'm actually in the works of not only obtaining an official thrill kill prototype but the freakin' E3 demo from the electronic boute' I know what your thinking that's practically impossible but I was wrong a few developers i wouldnt say leaked thrill kill rather they gave people who really like the game or were huge fans test copys before ea bought virgin the dev crew decided to give one fine gentlemen the e3 build for his euthesiame he later went on and decided he perfer sega over playstation and sold off a lot of rare games the collector I bought it from saw this as an opertunity and buys it since it's obscure this is not most sought after game I know however I was destined to collect all the adult only rated games so when i die and maybe get reincarnated I can go back and watch my old videos that's the sole reason why I started my channel aside the point I was honored to see the actual e3 cover art and case it came with I ask the seller if he has ever truthfully seen another copy of this verison" he said nope never it's almost as if it almost didn't exist not even the texas video game museum has this item it's so rare this also has never been surfaced before on the internet Ever until one ebay listing if you are interested I will more than likely upload a video to show it off i'm not trying to spam just wanted to inform you for your interest in cancelled games I deeply sorry if this comes across as spam i'm a real collector

I felt we could have gotten this game if those involved had just chose to censor it a little more. 6:00 It's a good thing this game was never released for it was made by a shitty developer, so the game would have sucked more than the film. 6:39 Yoyo was cancelled for emulation issues & Sony's executives not being fond of the idea of having a monkey for a mascot. So they scraped Yoyo & reworked it into Spyro. 8:54 it was also in development for the Dreamcast along with the Game Boy Color but only the latter was released. After the shutdown, Infogrames was bought out by Atari who milked the franchise during the 2K & early 2010s when they finally declared bankruptcy. In order to climb out of debt, they sold off all of Accolade's IP's to Tommo with the exception of Test Drive which was sold to a French Company known as Bigben Interactive. Bigben Interactive is currently working on Test Drive Unlimited 3 which will serve as a reboot to the whole series. We could ask them to try & release Cycles on the PSN or something but Bigben refuses to acknowledge any game in the series with the exception of Unlimited 1 & 2 as Canon. 14:36 StarCon was secretly cancelled by Infogrames when they bought out Accolade due to their financial crisis in the late 90s. Atari then acquired the Starcon rights after buying out Infogrames & they turned the series into a novel lineup. Stardock bought the rights from Atari during their liquidation & have outright cancelled the series. 15:10 Werewolf: The Apocalypse was cancelled for the Saturn 1st due to Sega discontinuing it outside of Japan. Capcom then tried to salvage the PS1 port for release but that got cancelled when White Wolf stripped them of the license.
