I did 'work from home' during my several visits in Egypt in order to extend my holidays. The connection through VPN(which I have to do due to my employer's procedures) was literally terrible in 2024. To the extend I would not risk it again in order not to get into troubles with my employer. Did you experience the same problem? Did you use any tricks to be comfortable working over VPN? Cairo was the worst, but Aswan and Luxor were also very bad experience from 'remote working' perspective (Alexandria somewhat OK). It seemed they are slowing down (or something) the VPN connections in Egypt.

@@letecmig yeah internet was rough. In Cairo the Cowork was okay, but only after I bugged them to increase my speed. Beyond that it was just me going to different coffee shops around town in Alexandria and seeing which had the best cell connection. Which a couple did even up to 60 mbps, but was a pain. VPN in general can also slow connection a lot. I’ve found shadowsocks proxies to be the fastest in terms of speed

@ hmmm, I allways do a test of connection by streaming some video in 1080p on my private laptop(I am not very technical but assume to run 1080p video streaming without quality reduction ang glitches you need VERY fast connection). Then i check on my work laptop that needs to go through specific VPN Even if i could run 1080p video no issues on my private laptop, VPN apparently killed it on my work laptop. Never had similar proble anywhere- from Mexico to India to Indonesia… …… stupid. Can not ask for assistance from employer’s tech team as I am only officially work in my home location or abroad on official business trip…. ok, so really no solution for me in Egypt. Its a shame as would love combine tourism with extension via ‘work from home’ extra days again…. So Egypt is out of the list for the future for me.

😂😂 Look there really weren’t great airbnb options in Alexandria. It was either that place or pay way too much at a nice hotel
