Most of these cars listed on here, I've personally seen with 300k+ miles, original everything. No car is reliable, if you don't do maintenance. I do agree that they don't make cars like they used to. But at the same time, take care of your car, and it'll take care of you. It's like taking care of your teeth.

Fun fact! My parents have a 2015 Chrysler C200S 2.4L the serpentine belt is difficult to deal with. To remove the starter you have to remove the battery, battery tray, relay box, and CV axle. When the motor is cold it would start up with no issue then turn itself off after 2-5 seconds. If you rev the motor a little bit it will stay on for about 10-25 seconds. Current recalls The rear control arm mounts to the frame can break from the welds. Using windows can potentially cause wiring to burn or even catch on fire. ECU problems with bad catalytic converters from the factory. Cruise control can stay on without being able to turn off the cruise control.

My mother's '08 only has 85k miles but it's 16 years old and the water pump still hasn't failed. The 3.5 is an incredibly reliable engine. Even the poorly designed water pump is very reliable, with most making it close to 200k miles before failing. It's just very expensive to repair and can be an engine-killer if you don't notice it immediately.

Fiat, Mitsubishi, Audi, VW, Mercedes, Ford, BMW, etc. Each of these manufacturers have been around for over 100 years. It's a joke that they didn't learn anything about engineering and assembly in all that time. Other makes, like Nissan and Suzuki have always been unreliable cars, even though Suzuki has made some outstanding motorbikes.

I bought a Hyundai kona 2022. I thought they were past the engine issues. No, the car had heat control module failure in 20,000. Then had a radiator failure at 30,000. The dealer service liked to argue that they may not cover it under mfg warranty. We traded it in at 40,000 after the starter would get stuck in the flywheel, the auto start feature a pain. No point having the dealer look at it, they would just ignore it. I previously owned older Hyundai Accent that ran 200,000 easily trouble free. A second Kia Rio 2008 my son bought has 200,000 runs great with typical Hyundai minor issues. We bought a Lexus, basically a Rav 4 on steroids with comfort features standard. Cheap cars are just that> Cheap. We have had Nissan never again, then a Subaru Forrester which had the head gasket failure under warranty. They didn't replace it, put sealant in the radiator to get it to the end of the warranty. So, no more Subaru for me. They treat you like a criminal, not a customer.

To say a Subarus cooling system is reliable is like saying Biden isn’t old. Those H-block pieces of sh*t are notorious for head gasket failure aka the biggest failure anyone could have within the cooling system 😂😂😂.
@is300Gang
@is300Gang 2 ай бұрын
If you leave them stock, especially the turbo models, then the demerit comes into the realm of being reasonable. Non-turbo models literally just leak oil externally from the head gasket. I have yet to see a 'stock'(trust me, checked the CAL ID and VN) with a 'blown'/leaking head gasket. The term 'blown' is thrown around waaaayyy too loosely. I've seen non-turbo(ej251-253 back to EA engines) 'blown' head gaskets go another 100k miles(I serviced them personally) and as long as the owner knows how a dipstick operates and the lack of funds to replace said 'blown' head gaskets...no reliability/driveablity issues. I'm the youngest SMT one of the largest dealership networks(over 60 stores and various brands) has seen, setting a record in the company back in 2018, at their Subaru store. To say I know the brand well, especially on the technical side, is an understatement 😂😂
@coolkid8934
@coolkid8934 2 ай бұрын
@ I work on them nearly everyday, they’re a junk car. Nothing you can say can convince me otherwise. From the trash cvt thats notorious for failure to external coolant and oil leaks from the head. I’ve seen it on both n/a and turbo models. And yes the cars I’m working on are all daily drivers/stock vehicles. Being 100% honest with you if you’re such a big Subaru enthusiast you should know Subaru has had these problems sense the 90’s (outside of the cvt issues, thats relatively new). Two main issues, the power plants themselves have always been faulty and in conjunction with negligence on the maintenance it’s only a matter of time before it’s being towed to a shop.
@coolkid8934
@coolkid8934 2 ай бұрын
@ what does it matter if the coolant leak is external or internal? the head gasket failed (normal operation for a Subaru😭😂), meaning the head(s) needs to be pulled off. The term “blown” is used to give a one word description pertaining to the underlying fault at hand, no one needs a multiple sentence explanation on the coolant leak being external or internal because the end result is the same (unless you’re typing a story for warranty, which I know you do a lot😭😭😭).

You have seriously mistaken in number 18.Vw Beetle. 1.8 turbo is the best engine in Vw history, but wasn't installed in Vw Beetle. I think catastrophic TSI 1,2, 1.4, 2,0 series was on your mind.

Not surprising you didn't include the worst ever failed foreign automobile manufacturers who once sold cars here in the US. The ones that just stop selling here in the US once their poor reputation became more than obvious. Notable examples are Peugeot, Renault, Saab, Isuzu, Daewoo, Daihatsu to name just a few.

You left out the 2004-2007 Mazda 6 S sedan & Sport Wagon with the Ford Duratech 3.0l engine. My 2005 S Wagon 143k miles won't stop springing coolant leaks as we speak[= Hoses, warped plastic T-fittings, water pump & belt and >now the radiator have to be replaced. It got so bad that I actually purchased every hose & plastic hose fitting under the hood as backup along with the drive belt, tensioner & idler pulley (it chirps at startup). [=

I’m in the market for my very first car, I’ve been doing a lot of research on many different vehicles, right now I’m looking at a 2014 Subaru outback. It has 128.3k miles. And it does have a CVT transmission. From what I’m getting from this video is that I’m good if I buy it. Correct?

I notice Toyota isn’t on the list. I have lost faith in any Ford, Chevrolet or Chrysler product. I blame a lot on the unreasonable government regulations for reliability problems. The old cast iron, push rod engines would last 300,000 to 500,000 miles.

The Buick Rendezvous is the same platform as the Pontiac Aztek-- identical engine from the Chevy Venture and equivalents... They should have the same ranking, not be on opposite ends. I'm also surprised that Land/Range Rovers didn't make it to this list, but otherwise there aren't many surprises in this one.

Over engineering plus cheap manufacturing on new vehicles is a recipe for disaster. My 83 Thunderbird 5.0L with 85,000 miles still fires up and runs like a dream. And all electronics still work including power windows and locks, cruise control, digital dash, and all interior and exterior lights.

Knew someone who had a 91 Passat GL and it made it to over 400 k recently and they live in Northern MN. Must’ve been a fluke. Used to have a 90 Jetta that I sold in 1993 with barely 30k on the odometer, and everything electrical, was a problem. Sometimes it would not start at all. Luckily it was under warranty at the time.
