The reason Pascal looks so much different from Lottie and Lyle is probably because they're river otters, while he's a sea otter. They have different shaped mouths, and sea otters have shorter, flatter tails. They also float on their backs. River otters are more sleek, have longer tails, and swim belly down like most aquatic animals.

I found out completely by accident that in New Horizons, if you shoot a present out of the sky directly above a simple well (the big stone well with no top cover), even if there are empty ground tiles surrounding it, the present will fall straight down into the well and disappear instead of bouncing off onto the ground. Considering how circumstantial it is, I just find it really funny that they even thought to add soemthing like that.

I think when the snowboy says that he thinks he's an alien, I think he means that by the definition of "alien" as: "A being from a planet other than your own", not the typical thing you think of when the word "alien", and instead those generic aliens you see in so many forms of media. River otters are usually called カワウソ kawauso, whereas sea otters are ラッコ rakko. I for one had never made a connection until it’s pointed out in this video.

The question could more accurately be framed this way: “Why an English speaker thought it’s intriguing that these characters were designed differently even though ‘they are all otters,’” instead of “Why they are designed differently.” About the point brought up here...I think different real‐life things can be stylized differently because they are different, but they can also be designed similarly because they are mentally bunched together. There are real cats (猫) that look different, too, but there is only one variant in game. Of course animal villagers share head types but “cats” don’t HAVE to be one type, if designers feel it’s more appropriate otherwise. An English speaker might design cartoonish “otter” characters to look somewhat similar to each other regardless of if they are river ones or sea ones, but that probably isn’t even a consideration for a Japanese‐speaking designer.

(With an NSO account, you can just... play hide-and-seek with your visitors, or your host and other visitors.) Now I'm imagining Redd selling you turnips on Sunday, then the day comes that Nook's Cranny will buy turnips at a higher price than you bought them for, and you go to sell them... only to find that they're made of foam rubber or something, so you completely wasted your money. Yeah, I assume your bird-type villagers can't fly, as they have the same limitations on movement as their ground-bound neighbors: if a piece of land is surrounded by water and/or cliff edges with no bridge or ramp to it, they can't go there. They can't vault over the rivers, and they can't use ladders or vines to climb up or down. Snowboys are an alien civilization. They've been looking forward to the moment of their formation since they were still snowflakes. When they melt, they don't feel pain, and even find it fun. Is the rest of the water in the game alive and conscious? Including the water used to brew coffee, or found in baths and showers...? Wait, the tier list is still a thing? It seemed like they stopped maintaining it or something... Also, Mr. Resetti can just show up randomly at The Roost, no amiibo necessary. I guess you could also say that what an artist does with their own music is their business, and if they want to give out what they could be selling, and they're not under contract not to distribute like that... Of course, now you can buy his music, with what's available changing to a random one per day, with only a few not being for sale, but either by request only, or being given to you ONLY on the day you said was your character's birthday. There are also two Daisys: Daisy and Daisy Mae. And then there's Renée and Reneigh, and Tammi and Tammy. The kangaroo children remind me of Wade's floatie. You know, from U.S. Acres/Orson's Farm. I remember that Copper used to be suspicious of Katrina's true identity.

I think the rough translation for Booker's Chinese localization is because in Chinese, it's kind of like a sign of endearment or respect to elders who are male to call them uncle. And so, at least from my experience with the language (which is admittedly limited), this is typically done by referring to them as 大爺, but in the case of Booker and Copper it's 叔叔, which also means uncle, but specifically an uncle who's younger than your own father, meanwhile 大爺 is the opposite, an uncle who's older than your own father. It is weird, though, that they didn't give Copper and Booker some unique names at the very least. I think it would have been neat if they did like a play on words kind of name, where their names are homophones of police. Or even just naming Copper as Jing (警) and Booker as Cha (察), which together form the pronunciation for 警察 (police).
