I make a log splitter that the engine and hydraulic tank can be easily swapped or removed to work on.

A tip for mounting motors put a bushing or bumper at all contact points. (Bolt washers rubber motor rubber frame rubber washer locking nut) Be mindful if you are doing a clutch or chain drive of the slack.

Naive question, regarding the exhaust you mentioned at the end, would it make sense to rotate the engine 180 degrees? That way the exhaust would be pointing away instead of into the middle. I'll echo everyone and say thanks for sharing!

Good question! Rotating the engine/pump configuration 180 from its present location would put the pull cord away from you for starting. You would have to start the engine on the other side of the splitter over/under the cylinder. If it was an electric start motor then I could turn it any which way with no issues. The modular mounting system could also be slid out a lot further moving the exhaust away from the cylinder as well.

I put the same engine on my chipper and you can rotate that exhaust 90 degrees.
