Now that is what you call a thicknesser. Lovely restoration and no doubt that beast will outlast most of us. Cheers for sharing

You main issue with finish and feed is the feed roller. It will be located on the top of the machine just inside the feed end, it will be well worn and they never get any attention. If you take a look at it you will see it looks like a roller with teeth, ie grooves running its length. These will have worn and lost their crisp sharp corners. If you take the time to remove the roller and machine these groove back in it will transform the machine. Most people just wind the roller up on the bottom table and this makes the finish terrible by putting a ‘heel at the start and end of the cut. Hope this helps Regards Stuart Bell

They are a beast of a thicknesser 30" wide and having the ability to lift the front pressure bar by hand is amazing. The bit people are saying is a knife grinder is for jointing the knives in the block in the machine. They will give an edge but the flat it produces should be stoned back by hand. Take a look at Rex planers for absolutely massive wide machines.

Congrats on epic upgrade - from the box planer in the beginning. Now you only need upgrading to massive helical cutter head, in/out feed tables with roles, a zillion CFM blower, 10" stainless ducts, a super cyclone tower, double 0.0001 micron filters with 200 gal bins ........ hey, and dont forget automatic fire control (I just witnessed one in a large pro shop so that's my serious part). One caramel eats the next.

Hello mate. Bit jealous of your machine there. Just a wee note tho, if you avoid letting the end of your boards come in contact with the concrete. Your planer will stay sharp much longer. It avoids ingrained grit being passed through the machine

Just got the same machine although yours looks in much better shape. Started it up today for the first time and it sounds great ( I only have the sound on your video for comparison). Any idea where I can get a service manual or operation manual. I cant find anything online and with living in Cape Town, South Africa, there arent too many of these around. Will appreciate any assistance. Thanks

Holy chipped blades! You really need to rig up that knife grinder! Perhaps you can shift one or two blades to get rid of some of those nicks in the blade?
