I'm over 40 and spent almost a decade working abroad seeing my parents only a couple of time during that time. I returned and we all agreed that the best option would be to move in to my parents house. I've a full-time job here, have no intention to set up any long relation anymore and hate living alone or share flat with someone i don't know and trust, so I happily live with my parents. They dont have issues with that as well and say ive brought happiness to their lives as there is more fun where there are 3 folks instead of two.

Timothy Perdue, Amen to all of that. His parents definitely failed him in some way for this to have happened. I would hazard a guess that they enabled him into stagnation. It's surprising how many parents think that they deserve their title simply because they keep a kid alive. Being a parent means providing structure, discipline and equipping your child for the outside world. If all you're doing as a parent is keeping your kid alive and breathing, you're a provider, not a parent. There's no way that the parent's did everything right, and that this is just simply 100% his fault. Things are seldom ever that black and white. Like you said, there is something more to this story.

For those who are blaming the parents for their son’s behaviour, they also have a daughter who is the younger child, she has moved out. While I think the parents did allow this situation to go on for too long, I can understand the difficult position they’re in. I think they have tried everything to reason with and help their son “see the light”. I can’t imagine how desperate u have to be to go to the courts. It must be very embarrassing for them. Their son is extremely self-entitled. Certain personalities are much more difficult than others. Honestly, I don’t even think they’d object to their son living in their home if he was doing something. The issue is he’s not doing anything! No job and not contributing at all to the household or to society. Very sad situation.

dot1spot : I knew of a man that the parent left with an older cousin hoping he would change. He could drive he went to the gym but did not know how to meet a girl or find a job. Fortune was kind to him: a girl who wanted to get married, but unsuccessful in Italy came to America as a last resort. A match was made, she works, he stays home looking after the house and everything worked fine. There is a girls prayer to Saint Anthony: at first she asks for a good looking handy man. No one comes along, then she asks for a man, looks are not important, her hopes gone, becoming holder she pleads: Saint Anthony send me a man, I take even an handicapped one.

Women have the most opportunities and privileges in society?! Ridiculous. Being born a white male, as in this case, u are automatically born with advantages. As for women being easy to raise... Talk to parents who have raised girls. Teens girls can be extremely difficult. I am the oldest of 2 and I can tell u I gave my parents more problems than my younger brother ever did. It appears u have issues with women. I think u should take your misogyny elsewhere.

dot1spot - women ARE more privileged, but only the beautiful ones. you can simply make money playing video games and having a little bit of cleavage if you have a pretty face. men will buy you gifts. men will go out of their way for you. ugly women get ignored. white male privlege is a myth. the legal system is heavily tilted against them, they rarely get custody of their children, they get harsher sentences for the same crime, they are discriminated against by college campuses, and workplaces are beginnign to have gender quotas that favor women and discriminate against men. people are taught to hate straight white men for simply being who they are.

This is the reason why when parents grow older, their children will not care about them and by most, put them in a long term care facility to die alone. The strong connection between parents and children is missing in the west. In my culture, we stay at our parents home as long as we want and until we get married. We are never expected to pay rent to them. When they grow older, we stay close to them, we give them money as they are no longer to work and support themselves and we take them to our homes as they age so we can give them the most amount of care and love.

I admit that I don't know the laws in New York, but I thought that once a child reaches the age of majority (18 years of age), they don't have to let him live under their roof anymore. Once a child reaches 18, they are automatically emancipated from parental care and can be kicked out under defiant trespass if they won't.
@samthepoet1076 жыл бұрын
California got a similar law. Remember the couple who rented Airbnb from a lady then made an agreement to pay her directly instead of through Airbnb? Then they stopped paying her and won't move out. She would have to go to court to evict them but she paid them money to leave her home instead. So the freeloaders ended up being paid to stay at her home.

I said that was easy for him to say cause he was already a grown up, He ask me do I know the difference between a man & a boy, adult & a child. I said yea you get older, he said no, "One takes responsibility & the other makes excuses, that's why I know 17 year old men & 50 year old boys. Now go finish your chores." It took me some years to start to figure that out & see it out in the real world, Now I have said the same thing to my teenager, He got quicker than most people do. Every stupid activist tries to force his opinion and more and more limit parents by "protecting" kids against their parents and putting their "rights" up as the highest value.

fox on the run: Sure. He is the one who should change his behaviour. So, please, don't blame his parents. They have no legal ways to force him to behave better. He is adult for 12 years. And even when he was a child were they very limited by the whole society.

fox on the run: And what can parents do when he doesn't react to their request? Should they call police or what? I can imagine that after every eviction he had some explanation why he can't do it just in that time. So they gave him another and another chance. And this one was the ultimate one. That is absolutely correct from their side.

The judge should have ordered a caseworker to force him to go to an interview for a full-time job so he can begin saving up money. How is he suppose to maintain payment on an apartment? Evicting him will only victimize him in being homeless!

If the parents are unhappy with the outcome of the human being he has become they have nobody to blame but themselves. They probably weren't a big enough influence in his life and left most of his rearing to the education system and himself while providing him with whatever he wanted. They are the one's who raised him, let him move back home when he lost his job at 22 and then allowed him to live there without contributing or helping out and without making strides towards achieving goals. Kids will only go as far as they are taught to go and as far as the tools they are given will get them. Obviously, his parents thought providing everything for their child and not making them do chores or help out was acceptable when he was younger, which is why that is who he is as an adult. They did not teach him the skills to overcome losing his job. Then when he moved back home they just enabled him until their breaking point then tossed him out. In the end they will suffer knowing they failed as parents. He will be forced into the street and NY will have another homeless man.

CSmith 4029 If he indeed has *mental health issues* that is all the more reason to make sure he receives therapy & help ... We don't know the full context but the assumed narrative that these parents are the sympathetic "good guys" and he the dead-beat villain is probably not true! There exist very disordered narcissistic parents who enjoy the "drama" of scapegoating their own progeny ... whose fragility they in large part created! What a nasty cold thing to do to your own flesh and blood!

Honestly, he appears to perhaps be on the spectrum. He probably would require six months to prepare leaving the household since he's obviously never received proper autism support growing up. The problem is, people on the higher end of the spectrum are literally forgotten about simply because they tend to have high iqs. However, the suffer many of the exact same struggles as those in the lower spectrum. Judge him a loser all you want, a true loser or entitled brat wouldn't have showed up in court because doing so would be been beneath them. This is a child who fell through the cracks, who doesn't interact with the environment the same as you all do but has no idea why, grew up probably feeling like a burden all his life and you laugh and call names. He was once a kid n apparently no one gives a crap about you once you're an adult.

Thank you. Unfortunately that comes from watching how a close friend of mine is treated daily by even his own family (they tell him autism isn't even real, etc). One of the most sincerest people I know but gets mocked left n right. I'm not sure majority of ppl would've cared if this Michael Rotondo had an official diagnosis either. He's adult, he's apparently fair game :/ I fear for all children leaving an aware n supportive environment going into our "adult" world where compassion is second place to the entertainment value of judgement.

Wrong. He's a lazy, victim mentality fueled, NEET virgin, ANTIFA loser. It takes a simple internet search to see this "man"'s life story. All those like him will face the same fate either like this when the parents have had enough or when their parents die and natural selection turns them into a bum, drug addict, or suicidal husk of a human being. This is why no one is worried about you pathetic losers.

It gets really difficult to find a job the longer one is unemployed. A year can go by really fast. It gets more and more difficult to go out and depending where one lives the prospective employment situation doesn't change for the better.
